The Athletics reinstated Soderstrom (hip) from the 10-day injured list, and he'll start at designated hitter and bat cleanup during Wednesday's game in Detroit.
Soderstrom rejoined the Athletics after spending just one day over the minimum amount of time on the shelf while he recovered from a left hip impingement. The Athletics optioned infielder Max Muncy to Triple-A Las Vegas to open up a spot on the active roster for Soderstrom, who looks poised to reclaim an everyday role heading into the All-Star break. Before heading to the IL, Soderstrom had produced an .803 OPS with 13 home runs, one stolen base, 41 RBI and 41 runs over 80 games on the season.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Could return 'very soon'
Rotowire
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Tuesday that Soderstrom (hip) is progressing well with his baseball activities and could return to the active roster "very soon," Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Soderstrom has been hitting, running and going through outfield drills without any apparent issues with his left hip impingement. He's eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list now, but it's possible Soderstrom will be asked to go out on a rehab assignment first. The Athletics should have more clarity on a timeline for the outfielder later this week.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Getting day off to rest hip
Rotowire
Soderstrom (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Soderstrom will receive some maintenance for his sore left hip after striking out in his lone at-bat Saturday before the Athletics lifted him in the bottom of the third inning. Manager Mark Kotsay said Soderstrom was scheduled for a re-evaluation Sunday, after which the Athletics should have a better idea whether the 24-year-old's hip issue is a day-to-day concern or something that will require a trip to the injured list. The Athletics will go with Colby Thomas as their starter in left field during the series finale in Anaheim.

Rotowire
Soderstrom went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two walks in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels.
Soderstrom didn't contribute any marks in the RBI column, but the 24-year-old reached base in all five plate appearances and matched a season high with three hits and three runs scored. Notably, he came around to score on Jonah Heim's game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning after lacing a double earlier in the frame. Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Hitting bench vs. southpaw
Rotowire
Soderstrom is not starting versus Colorado on Saturday.
The lefty-hitting Soderstrom is getting a breather with the Rockies sending southpaw Kyle Freeland to the mound. It's the fourth time in five games that the A's are going up against a lefty starter, but Soderstrom started each of those first three contests, so he's not in a platoon situation. However, Colby Thomas is spelling Soderstrom in left field Saturday.

Rotowire
Soderstrom went 3-for-4 with two home runs, four total RBI and two walks in Monday's 15-14 extra-innings loss to the Brewers.

Rotowire
Soderstrom went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Yankees.
Soderstrom has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, including four multi-hit efforts. He's 14-for-36 (.389) with six extra-base hits and six RBI in that span. It's a welcome sight for the outfielder after his slow start this season. Even after that hot stretch, he's batting just .223 with a .739 OPS, seven homers, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored, one stolen base, 17 doubles and two triples through 55 contests while occupying a near-everyday role in left field.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Drives in three runs Wednesday
Rotowire
Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Angels.
Soderstrom was a key contributor in the Athletics' win, opening the scoring with a two-run single in the first inning before delivering what proved to be the game-winning hit with another RBI single in the 10th frame. Wednesday snapped an 11-game stretch without an RBI for the left fielder, who had gone just 4-for-41 (.098) during that span. After a breakout 2025 campaign in which he posted an .820 OPS across 158 games, Soderstrom hasn't yet clicked to the same degree in 2026, slashing .194/.276/.371 with five homers, 14 doubles, a triple, 23 RBI, 22 runs and a stolen base through 46 appearances.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Sitting versus lefty
Rotowire
Soderstrom is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.
The Angels have southpaw Reid Detmers starting Tuesday, so the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom will take a seat. Soderstrom has struggled in 2026 with a .190/.275/.375 slash line, down across the board from 2025. His dip versus lefties has been even worse with a .738 OPS in 2025 and just a .426 OPS in 2026. As Soderstrom sits Tuesday, Colby Thomas will start in left and bat third.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Blasts fourth homer in win
Rotowire
Soderstrom went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's win over the Guardians.
Soderstrom was the last of three Athletics hitters to homer, driving a solo shot off lefty Parker Messick in the fifth inning to go back-to-back with Zack Gelof. Coming off a breakout campaign with an .820 OPS in 2025, Soderstrom hasn't gotten off to a stellar start in 2026, though he has still produced at times, and Sunday's effort was a step in the right direction. Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Remains out of lineup Thursday
Rotowire
Soderstrom (shoulder/head) remains out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.
Soderstrom landed hard trying to make a diving catch in left field Tuesday and will sit for the second straight contest. The Royals are also throwing left-hander Noah Cameron on Thursday, which could play a part in the lefty-hitting Soderstrom getting a second straight day out of the lineup. Carlos Cortes is starting in left and batting sixth.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Pulled after HBP
Rotowire
Soderstrom was removed from Thursday's Cactus League game against Seattle "out of precaution" after being hit by a pitch on the knee, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Soderstrom was nailed by a Randy Dobnak changeup in the fourth inning. The outfielder initially remained in the game and even scored in the same frame on a passed ball, but he was then substituted for in left field for the bottom of the inning. That being said, it doesn't sound like Soderstrom is dealing with a serious injury, so at this point his availability for Opening Day doesn't seem to be in jeopardy.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Inks $86 million contract extension
Rotowire
The Athletics signed Soderstrom to a seven-year, $86 million contract extension Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The deal includes a club option for 2033.
The deal buys out at least three free-agent years and can max out at $131 million if Soderstrom reaches all of the escalators in the contract. Soderstrom broke out in 2025 in his first full major-league season, slashing .276/.346/.474 with 25 home runs and 93 RBI. He also learned to play left field on the fly and took to it surprisingly well, finishing as a Gold Glove finalist. Soderstrom will be only 31 in the final year of the contract if the Athletics pick up his option, so it's a deal that is likely to be very team-friendly if he continues his upward trajectory.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Plates four in win
Rotowire
Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI in Saturday's 17-4 win over the Angels.
Soderstrom set the tone with a three-run double in the first inning and added an additional RBI on a groundout in the sixth. He's hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-23 (.348) with eight RBI in that span. He continues to see more than just a platoon role in left field, though he cedes some at-bats to Colby Thomas when the Athletics face a left-handed pitcher. Soderstrom is up to a .273/.345/.469 slash line with 23 home runs, 85 RBI, 69 runs scored, 29 doubles and seven stolen bases through 142 contests this season.
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are sending left-hander Matthew Liberatore to the hill for the series finale, so Athletics manager Mark Kotsay likely decided that Wednesday was an optimal time to give the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom his first day off since Aug. 15. While starting in each of the Athletics' last 16 games, Soderstrom slashed .323/.400/.452 with one home run, one stolen base, nine RBI and seven runs.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Belts three-run blast in defeat
Rotowire
Soderstrom went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a loss versus Tampa Bay on Monday.
Soderstrom narrowed his team's five-run deficit to just two runs with his three-run homer in the seventh frame, but that was as close as the A's would get. The powerful young outfielder extended his on-base streak to 13 games, a stretch in which he's batting .304 (14-for-46) with three homers and 11 RBI. Soderstrom has had a few extended power droughts this year but has otherwise been a steady offensive presence for the Athletics, slashing .260/.333/.469 with 22 long balls, 71 RBI, 59 runs and six stolen bases through 120 contests.
