Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Reinstated from IL
The Dodgers reinstated Edman (ankle) from the injured list Wednesday.
Edman played five games in a rehab assignment while working his way back from a sprained ankle he suffered in early August, during which he went 4-for-14 with three walks and a run scored. Now fully healthy, he should reclaim his role as an everyday starter -- likely spending most of his time in the outfield. Justin Dean was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Jesse Winker DH | NYM
Mets' Jesse Winker: Officially done for 2025
Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed Wednesday that Winker (back) will be shut down for the rest of the 2025 season, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports.
Winker landed on the injured list in mid-July due to back inflammation. He was pulled from his rehab assignment last week after suffering a setback, and the injury is severe enough for the 32-year-old to be officially sidelined for the rest of the 2025 campaign. Winker will shift his focus to being ready for spring training and will enter the offseason as a free agent. He logged just 81 plate appearances for the Mets this season, slashing .229/.309/.400 with one home run, one stolen base, 10 RBI and eight runs.

Tylor Megill SP | NYM
Mets' Tylor Megill: Set for further evaluation
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Megill is being further evaluated as the team seeks to find the source of the pitcher's right elbow discomfort, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Megill has been shut down after he experienced tightness in his pitching arm following his most recent rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. Mendoza noted Wednesday in regard to Megill's status that Tommy John surgery has not been discussed, though that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be in the future. The righty has been out since mid-June due to elbow trouble, and his availability for the rest of the season is very much in doubt.

Connor Norby 1B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Starting rehab assignment
Norby (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Norby appears to have made a swift recovery from his left quadriceps strain, an injury he suffered just last week. He will be eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Sunday and would seem to have a good shot to be ready to go at that time.

Dane Myers CF | CIN
Marlins' Dane Myers: Cleared for rehab games
Myers (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Myers has been sidelined for all of September with a right oblique strain but has been cleared to knock some rust off on a rehab assignment. Because the absence has been brief, he shouldn't require too many rehab at-bats before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Myers could be limited to playing time versus left-handed pitching upon his return.

Ethan Roberts RP | CHC
Cubs' Ethan Roberts: Heading back to Triple-A
The Cubs optioned Roberts to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Roberts' stay with the big club lasted just two days, and the right-hander didn't appear in relief in either of the Cubs' first two games of their series in Atlanta. He'll be pushed off the 28-man active roster with the Cubs bringing back Jameson Taillon (groin) from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's series finale.

Jameson Taillon SP | CHC
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Brought back from IL ahead of start
The Cubs reinstated Taillon (groin) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday in Atlanta, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Reliever Ethan Roberts was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move, while right-hander Javier Assad was moved to the bullpen to clear room in the rotation for Taillon, who spent the minimum amount of time on the shelf. Prior to being activated, Taillon tossed 3.2 innings and 68 pitches in a rehab start with Iowa on Thursday, so his workload could be somewhat suppressed as he makes his 20th appearance of the season for the big club.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Out Wednesday with sore groin
Adams (groin) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Adams will get at least one game off after he was removed from Tuesday's 7-5 win during the bottom of the second inning after taking a foul tip to the groin area while he was catching. Per MLB.com, interim manager Miguel Cairo said after the game that Adams was "fine," but Jorge Alfaro will receive a turn behind the plate Wednesday.

Nick Gonzales 3B | PIT
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Taking Wednesday off
Gonzales is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Gonzales will receive what appears to be a routine maintenance day after he started in each of the Bucs' last 12 games while slashing .250/.294/.333 with six runs and three RBI. Nick Yorke will fill in for Gonzales at second base and will bat sixth.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Resting up Wednesday
McCutchen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
McCutchen will receive a breather after he had served as the Pirates' designated hitter in the team's last two games while going 2-for-8 with a double, an RBI and a run. Tommy Pham will get a break from playing the outfield Wednesday and will settle into the DH spot.
