Vasquez (5-7) took the loss Thursday against the Mets, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk across 2.1 innings. He struck out three.

After turning in back-to-back quality starts in his previous two outings, Vasquez struggled Thursday, giving up a solo homer to Pete Alonso in the first inning before allowing another three runs before departing in the third. Through 125.2 innings this year, Vasquez sports a 3.94 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP and 74:50 K:BB. • Aaron Bummer RP | ATL

Braves' Aaron Bummer: Moves on 60-day IL

Atlanta transferred Bummer (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Left shoulder inflammation sent Bummer to the injured list in late August, and although he began a throwing program Saturday, his move to the 60-day IL will officially rule him out for the rest of the season. He'll give up his place on the 40-man roster to Brett Wisely, who was claimed off waivers from San Francisco in a corresponding move.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Braves' Brett Wisely: Claimed by Atlanta

Atlanta claimed Wisely off waivers from San Francisco on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Wisely lost his place on the Giants' 40-man roster following the promotion of Bryce Eldridge, but the former will reclaim a 40-man roster spot upon moving to Atlanta. He'll most likely remain in Triple-A for the remainder of the season after slashing .253/.332/.387 at Triple-A Sacramento for the Giants.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Will retire after 2025 season

The Dodgers announced Thursday that Kershaw will retire after the conclusion of the 2025 season.

The 37-year-old has pitched well in his 18th and final campaign, posting a 3.53 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 71:30 K:BB over 102 innings covering 20 starts. He's won 222 games and his career 2.54 ERA leads all active pitchers.
