Brewers' Trevor Megill: Hoping to return Sunday

The Brewers are hopeful Megill (elbow) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Megill has not had a smooth recovery from a right flexor strain that's kept him out all of September. He'll try throwing off the mound again Tuesday, though, with a 25-to-30 pitch, two "up" bullpen session. If that goes well, Megill could make it back for one appearance on the final day of the regular season as he tests out his readiness for the playoffs.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Exiting starting nine

Davis is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

Rafael Flores is getting his first big-league start at catcher while Davis rests. Fellow catcher Joey Bart is also in Tuesday's lineup, serving as the Pirates' designated hitter.

  • Jack Suwinski RF | LAD

Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Getting regular reps in left field

Suwinski will start in left field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Reds.

Suwinski looks to have leap-frogged the slumping Tommy Pham in left field, as this will be his fourth start over the last five games against right-handers. The left-handed-hitting Suwinski hasn't done much himself lately, going 2-for-16 with nine strikeouts since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier this month.

  • Tommy Pham LF | NYM

Pirates' Tommy Pham: Playing time dwindling

Pham is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Cincinnati.

Pham is in a deep slump, having gone hitless over his last eight games. As a result, he will yield left field to Jack Suwinski for the fourth time over the last five games versus right-handed pitching.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Getting breather

McCutchen is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

It's a routine day off for the veteran. Joey Bart is getting a start at designated hitter and will bat sixth for the Pirates.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Rare day off Tuesday

Harper is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

It's a rare day off for Harper, who had started every game since July 4. Otto Kemp will handle first base and bat ninth for the Phillies in Tuesday's series opener.

  • Nationals' Orlando Ribalta: Recalled from Triple-A

The Nationals recalled Ribalta from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Ribalta has made 20 relief appearances for Washington this season, collecting a 6.56 ERA and 24:15 K:BB over 23.1 innings. He'll give the team a fresh bullpen arm for the final week.

  • Nationals' Julian Fernandez: Summoned to big leagues

The Nationals recalled Fernandez from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Fernandez was claimed off waivers in August and will now receive his first major-league opportunity since joining the Nationals organization. The 29-year-old has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, where he's held a 4.17 ERA and 67:18 K:BB over 54 frames.

  • Mason Thompson RP | TEX

Nationals' Mason Thompson: Shelved with biceps tendinitis

The Nationals placed Thompson on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right biceps tendinitis.

The injury will end Thompson's season, though he should have a normal offseason, barring any setbacks. Thompson struggled mightily in 10.2 innings out of the Nationals' bullpen in 2025, finishing with an 11.81 ERA and 11:21 K:BB.

  • MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Ankle injury ends season

The Nationals placed Gore on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right ankle impingement.

Gore suffered an ankle injury earlier this season, although it's not clear whether this is an aggravation of that injury. Either way, his season is now over. The left-hander had an up-and-down 2025 campaign, finishing with a 4.17 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 185:64 K:BB over 159.2 innings covering 30 starts.
