The Pirates outrighted Bethancourt to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Bethancourt did not appear in a game during his brief time on the Pirates' 40-man roster, but he's slated to remain in the organization as experienced catching depth. The 35-year-old is a career .229/.259/.362 hitter over parts of eight big-league seasons.

Gurriel started at designated hitter and went 0-for-3 in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning win over Kansas City.

Gurriel made his first appearance since the Diamondbacks reinstated him from the injured list last week. That he wasn't used over the previous week indicates that Gurriel is not expected to have a full-time role down the stretch as Arizona competes for the postseason.

Perdomo went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Perdomo was back in the lineup a day after taking a line drive off the helmet. He had a run-scoring single as part of Arizona's five-run 10th inning.

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

This was Suarez's fourth homer over his last nine games. He's gone 8-for-31 (.258) with 10 RBI in that span. The veteran third baseman is batting .209 with a .726 OPS, 22 homers, 63 RBI, 41 runs scored, 17 doubles and a stolen base over 111 contests this season.

De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

De La Cruz has homered in three straight games and has multiple hits in five straight. The steal was his first since Aug. 29 against the Cubs and just his fifth on seven attempts since the start of August. The speedy shortstop is batting .281 with an .859 OPS, 24 homers, 25 steals, 67 RBI, 87 runs scored, 25 doubles and five triples over 125 contests this season.

Williamson (3-4) allowed six runs (three earned) on three hits, five walks and a hit batsman while striking out four over 4.1 innings to take the loss versus the Dodgers on Monday.

Williamson has been tabbed to handle a piggyback role with ace Chase Burns as the Reds focus on managing Burns' workload late in the season. Williamson wasn't good in this tough matchup, with a three-run home run by Teoscar Hernandez in the sixth inning accounting for most of the damage. For the season, Williamson is at a 5.97 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 28:27 K:BB through 37.2 innings. While working in bulk relief theoretically gives the southpaw a better chance at wins, the Reds have three of their last five series of the year coming against division-leading teams. Burns and Williamson are projected to work in tandem again over the weekend in Milwaukee.

Burns walked one and struck out five over three scoreless, no-hit innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Monday.

Burns' workload is being curtailed late in the season. He threw just 44 pitches (26 strikes) in this contest, and similar pitch counts can be expected for the remainder of his starts. Unless he moves to the back half of a piggyback situation, it will be virtually impossible for him to work deep enough to qualify for wins. Burns is at a 2.73 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 176:51 K:BB through 148.1 innings over 27 starts this year. He is expected to work in tandem with Brandon Williamson again over the weekend in Milwaukee.

Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

Hernandez has gone 13-for-29 (.448) during his active eight-game hitting streak, adding two homers and 11 RBI in that span. The veteran outfielder is rounding into form at just the right time of the year. He's up to a .261 average and .740 OPS with 13 homers, four steals, 55 RBI, 55 runs scored, 17 doubles and a triple over 108 contests.

Phillips struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

This was Phillips' first save of the season. Tanner Scott didn't pitch Sunday, so it's at least somewhat notable that Phillips got the call, even though this was in a fairly low-pressure situation with a three-run lead. Phillips is on a seven-inning scoreless streak that began Aug. 21, while Scott has given up four runs over six innings in that same span. On the year, Phillips has pitched to a 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB while adding six holds and three blown saves over 20.2 innings. The Dodgers' bullpen has been a little unstable over the last month-plus, so there's a chance Phillips will factor into more save chances down the stretch.

Pauley went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Monday's loss to the Mets.

Pauley belted his third homer of the season Monday. Until Xavier Edwards (thumb) returns from the injured list, Pauley has a clearer pathway to action in the infield. He's batting .195 with 13 extra-base hits, 21 RBI, eight walks and 13 runs scored over 123 at-bats on the year.
