Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Goes deep in win

Sosa went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Twins.

Sosa singled in the third inning before launching his career-high 11th home run in the fifth. The 29-year-old has been on fire since returning from the injured list Wednesday, going deep four times in three games. For the season, he's slashing .279/.311/.475 with 11 homers, 39 RBI, 30 runs scored and one steal across 258 plate appearances.

  • Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Reachers 30-homer mark in style

Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 12-1 win over the Cardinals.

Suzuki notched 30 home runs and 100 RBI for the first time in his major-league career with a seventh-inning grand slam. The 31-year-old has now hit safely in five straight games and gone deep three times over the past two days. For the season, he's slashing .244/.323/.491 with 30 homers, 101 RBI, 72 runs scored and five steals across 644 plate appearances.

  • Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Joins 30-30 club in rout

Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 12-1 win over the Cardinals. He was also hit by a pitch.

Crow-Armstrong became the sixth player this season to reach the 30-homer, 30-steal milestone with a two-run blast in the fourth inning. Per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, the 23-year-old joined Sammy Sosa as the only players in Cubs history to accomplish the feat. Despite hitting just .209 since the All-Star break, Crow-Armstrong is slashing .245/.285/.476 with 30 long balls, 93 RBI, 90 runs scored and 35 steals across 640 plate appearances on the year.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

    Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Sitting Friday

Freeman (back) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game versus San Francisco.

Freeman's back will force him to the bench for a fourth consecutive game, and given the Rockies' record, they likely aren't in a rush to bring him back for the final few games of the regular season. Hunter Goodman will get another start as Colorado's DH while Braxton Fulford starts behind the plate.

  • Miles Mikolas SP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Allows three homers in loss

Mikolas (8-11) took the loss against the Cubs on Friday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts over five innings.

All four runs against Mikolas came via the long ball, leaving him with a career-high 29 homers allowed on the season. The 37-year-old saw a streak of five straight outings allowing two earned runs or fewer come to an end in what may have been his final appearance in a Cardinals uniform. He'll head into free agency after finishing the 2025 campaign with a 4.84 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 100:37 K:BB across 156.1 innings.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Riding pine Friday

Moniak isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

After stringing together a 10-game on-base streak, Moniak will get a chance to rest his legs Friday while Jordan Beck, Brenton Doyle and Yanquiel Fernandez start in the outfield for Colorado.

  • Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Sitting again Friday

Bernabel isn't in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Giants.

Bernabel started Wednesday during his first game back from the injured list, but he'll now head to the bench for a second consecutive day while Blaine Crim starts at first base.

  • Colin Rea SP | CHC

Cubs' Colin Rea: Strikes out seven in win

Rea (11-7) earned the win against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out seven over 5.2 scoreless innings.

Rea was sharp, pounding the zone with 56 of 77 pitches for strikes and racking up 13 whiffs. The 35-year-old snapped a winless skid dating back to Aug. 20 despite having now limited opponents to three earned runs or fewer in each of his past five outings. He closes the regular season with a career-best 3.95 ERA to go along with a 1.25 WHIP and 127:44 K:BB across 159.1 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Andrew Hoffmann: Up from Reno

The Diamondbacks recalled Hoffmann from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Hoffmann hasn't pitched in the minors since Sept. 4 due to complications with his elbow, but he is evidently feeling well enough to help the Diamondbacks' bullpen during the final series of the regular season. The 25-year-old carries a 6.55 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through 11 innings in the majors this year and likely won't pitch outside of low-leverage situations while with Arizona.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Nursing injury

Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Muncy has been dealing with a lower-body injury over the past couple of days, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The skipper noted that Muncy's injury has been affecting his swing, which explains why the slugging third baseman is set to miss a second consecutive start Friday. It remains unknown whether he'll make it back to the starting nine before the end of the regular season, but Muncy doesn't seem to be at risk of missing the start of Los Angeles' postseason run.
