  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Sitting versus southpaw

Pederson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

It's Arizona's fourth straight game against a left-handed starting pitcher, and Pederson will end up having started just one of those contests. The veteran slugger is mired in a 4-for-23 slump over his past eight games. Blaze Alexander will bat eighth as the designated hitter Tuesday.

  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Absent from Tuesday's lineup

Carroll is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

One day after being moved down to the No. 8 spot in the Diamondbacks' batting order, Carroll is now out of the lineup altogether. Both games have come versus left-handers. Carroll is hitting a woeful .192/.280/.281 during his massively disappointing 2024 campaign. Jake McCarthy is in center field Tuesday.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Throwing live BP

Hoeing (hamstring) is set to throw a live BP session at Single-A Jupiter this week, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Hoeing reported tightness in his hamstring during a rehab appearance in late May. After a couple of weeks off, Hoeing is working his way back to pitching in games, with a live BP session being one of the final steps before resuming his rehab stint.

  • Josh Simpson RP | SEA

Marlins' Josh Simpson: Begins throwing program

Simpson (elbow) has started throwing, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Simpson has been shut down since April, when he underwent surgery to repair the ulnar nerve in his left elbow. However, he's begun throwing at Single-A Jupiter. He's on track to return in late July or early August.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: On bench Tuesday

Frelick is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.

Frelick will avoid lefty Cristopher Sanchez on Tuesday, giving way to Jackson Chourio in right field. Frelick is slashing .253/.335/.333 with a pair of homers and seven stolen bases on the year.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Taking seat Tuesday

Bauers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

As per usual, Bauers will ride the pine with the Brewers facing a left-handed pitcher. Rhys Hoskins will play first while Gary Sanchez fills the DH spot.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Idle against lefty

Turang is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

Turang will dodge a matchup with southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on Tuesday, joining fellow lefties Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick on the bench. Andruw Monasterio will play second and bat ninth.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Still on track for London start

Suarez (hand) played catch without any apparent issues Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

He gave a thumbs-up to reporters afterward, and Phillies manager Rob Thomson was similarly upbeat about how Suarez checked out during Tuesday's workout. Suarez will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and assuming that goes well, he's expected to be cleared to start against the Mets this weekend in London. The lefty departed his last outing Saturday versus the Cardinals after being struck on the pitching hand by a comebacker.

  • Sean Bouchard RF | COL

Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Out of lineup Tuesday

Bouchard isn't part of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Bouchard will give way to the lefty-hitting Jake Cave in left field Tuesday with RHP Frankie Montas on the mound for the Reds. While Bouchard remains the Rockies' preferred left fielder due to Jordan Beck (hand) being sidelined, Bouchard is still expected to cede work to Cave and Hunter Goodman on occasion.

  • Kris Bryant RF | COL

    Rockies' Kris Bryant: Idle Tuesday

Bryant (back) isn't part of the starting nine Tuesday against the Reds.

Bryant missed Monday's series opener with back soreness and will once again be held out of the lineup due to the issue. Charlie Blackmon will DH and lead off while Hunter Goodman fills out the lineup in right field.
