  • Mike Siani CF | BAL

Cardinals' Mike Siani: Goes deep in win

Siani went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Marlins.

Siani opened the scoring with a fifth-inning homer off Miami starter Braxton Garrett. Siani has hit safely in eight of his 15 games in June, but he hasn't posted a multi-hit effort since May 20. The outfielder is up to two homers, 10 RBI, 17 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a .210/.257/.283 slash line through 157 plate appearances. Siani sat out against the last two southpaws the Cardinals have faced, so he appears to be slipping into a strong-side platoon role in center field, with Dylan Carlson picking up at-bats versus lefties.

  • Cardinals' Andrew Kittredge: Picks up extra-innings win

Kittredge (1-3) allowed two unearned runs on one hit over two innings, earning the win over the Marlins on Monday.

Kittredge allowed a run in each of the 11th and 12th innings, but the Cardinals were able to establish a two-run lead in the 12th. Through 10 innings in June, Kittredge has allowed six runs (four earned) with an 8:3 K:BB. The right-hander is at a 3.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB with one save, 19 holds and four blown saves through 33 innings in a high-leverage role this season.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Belts homer in loss

Busch went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk against the Giants in Monday's loss.

Busch gave Chicago its first lead with a two-run blast to center field in the sixth inning. It was his first long ball over his past 17 contests and just his second across his past 32 games. Busch began the campaign with six homers through 16 contests, so the fact that he's still yet to reach double digits in that category emphasizes the extent to which he's slowed down. Still, the first baseman has been hitting well lately, batting .370 over his past 27 at-bats.

  • Ian Happ LF | CHC

Cubs' Ian Happ: Drives in three runs Monday

Happ went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Monday's loss to San Francisco.

Happ's seventh-inning, three-run homer snapped a 3-3 tie and appeared to give the Cubs a comfortable advantage, but the Giants scored three runs in the ninth to pull out the win. Nonetheless, Happ continued to break out of his recent slump -- over his past three contests, he's gone 6-for-9 with two homers, six RBI and three walks. Prior to the three-game stretch, Happ endured a rough span of eight contests during which he went 2-for-28 with 10 strikeouts.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Goes deep Monday

Bailey went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk against the Cubs in Monday's 7-6 victory.

Bailey brought San Francisco to within two runs with his eighth-inning solo blast. It was just his second extra-base hit over his past 16 contests, a span in which he's batted .264 (14-for-53). Bailey has a modest five long balls on the campaign, but he's been solid offensively with a .286/.360/.435 slash line, 23 RBI, 18 runs, two steals, an 11.5 percent walk rate and a 19.0 percent strikeout rate over 179 plate appearances.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Belts game-winning homer

Estrada went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and four total RBI in Monday's 7-6 win against the Cubs.

Estrada was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning to give San Francisco its first lead, though Chicago quickly re-took the lead in the bottom of the frame. The Giants remained behind until the ninth, when Estrada blasted a three-run homer that proved to be the game-winning hit. The long ball snapped a 20-game homerless stretch for the infielder. With nine home runs on the season, Estrada is five away from tying his career-high mark.

  • Hector Neris RP | HOU

Cubs' Hector Neris: Can't convert save opportunity

Neris (6-2) took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one inning.

Neris entered in the top of the ninth frame with Chicago leading by two runs. He got one out before Jorge Soler reached base on catcher's interference. Mike Yastrzemski followed with a walk before Thairo Estrada gave San Francisco the lead with a three-run homer. Though Neris retired the following two batters, the damage had been done, and the Cubs weren't able to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame. The blown save was the fourth of the season for Neris and his third over his past seven chances. He's allowed nine earned runs across his past 8.2 frames, so his hold on the closer position may be tenuous.

  • Javier Assad RP | CHC

Cubs' Javier Assad: Fans seven in no-decision

Assad allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.

Assad needed 92 pitches to get through five frames, but he was effective during his time on the mound, limiting the Giants to just a fourth-inning run. However, the right-hander couldn't pick up his first win since mid-May, as Chicago's offense wasn't able to push across a run until after his departure. Nonetheless, this was a nice bounce-back for Assad after he surrendered seven earned runs over 10.1 frames across his previous two outings.

  • Ian Anderson RP | ATL

Braves' Ian Anderson: Returning to mound

Anderson (elbow) will pitch in a Florida Complex League game Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Anderson has been working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in April 2023 and Tuesday's outing will be his first in the recovery process. The right-hander will likely need to build up his workload over a series of weeks, including a multi-start rehab assignment before he'd be able to be activated from the minor-league 60-day injured list, but Tuesday is a welcome sign nonetheless.

  • Camilo Doval RP | SF

Giants' Camilo Doval: Nails down save Monday

Doval earned a save against the Cubs on Monday, striking out one batter in one perfect inning.

San Francisco scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a one-run lead, and Doval entered in the bottom of the frame to try to slam the door on Chicago. He did so without much trouble, needing just 11 pitches to set down the side in order. The outing helped wash away the sour taste of Doval's outing one day earlier, when he allowed four runs over one-third of an inning in a non-save situation against the Angels. On the season, the closer has racked up 13 saves in 15 chances while posting a 4.71 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 36:21 K:BB over 28.2 frames.
