  • Brewers' Brandon Lockridge: Will get MRI

Lockridge is expected to get an MRI on his injured right knee once swelling subsides, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Lockridge needed "about 10" stitches in the knee after crashing into a side wall in the outfield during Friday's contest versus the Yankees. While Lockridge was placed on the injured list Saturday and is currently on crutches, he said the laceration may heal in 7-to-10 days. Should that be the case, and should his MRI come back clean, Lockridge may be able to return to action before the end of May.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Slated for live BP on Sunday

Fairbanks (hand) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Sunday and will then travel with the Marlins for the team's road series in Minnesota, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Fairbanks landed on the IL on April 28 due to nerve irritation in his right hand, but he tossed two bullpen sessions this week and is now lined up to throw to hitters. The veteran reliever is eligible to be activated May 13, and it sounds like he could be back in action that day. Fairbanks will likely reclaim the team's closer role upon his return. Calvin Faucher and Tyler Phillips have notched one save apiece during Fairbanks' absence.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Returning Saturday

Marte (illness) will start at second base and bat leadoff against the Mets on Saturday.

Marte was a late scratch from Friday's lineup due to an illness, but he appears to be feeling well enough to play Saturday. The 32-year-old second baseman has been caught in a bit of a slump recently, going just 2-for-26 (.077) with two RBI and two runs scored over his last eight games.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Moves to 60-day IL

The Dodgers transferred Edman (ankle) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Edman's rehab was paused Monday after he felt renewed soreness in his surgically repaired right ankle. He remains without an official return timeline, but his move to the 60-day IL will ensure that he remains out until at least May 24. The transaction also frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Charlie Barnes, who was claimed off waivers from the Cubs on Saturday.

  • Charlie Barnes SP | LAD

Dodgers' Charlie Barnes: Claimed by Dodgers

The Dodgers claimed Barnes off waivers from the Cubs on Saturday.

Barnes lost his spot on the Cubs' 40-man roster Wednesday, but he'll reclaim a 40-man spot after being picked up by the Dodgers. The 30-year-old southpaw posted a 3.04 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 26.2 frames with Triple-A Iowa and will likely remain in the minors to begin his tenure with his new organization. Tommy Edman (ankle) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Blake Perkins RF | MIL

Brewers' Blake Perkins: Recalled from Nashville

The Brewers recalled Perkins from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins was sent to Triple-A on Monday after Jackson Chourio returned from the injured list, but the former will now return to Milwaukee to replace the injured Brandon Lockridge (knee). Perkins likely won't play as often as he did when Chourio was sidelined but could still see consistent at-bats against left-handed starters.

  • Brewers' Brandon Lockridge: Placed on IL

The Brewers placed Lockridge (knee) on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Lockridge was taken out of Friday's game against the Yankees after crashing hard into the side wall in left field and suffering a deep laceration in his right knee. Manager Pat Murphy said after the game that Lockridge is expected to be out for "a while," so the Brewers will stash him away on the IL and bring up Blake Perkins to replenish their outfield depth.

  • Nationals' Richard Lovelady: Working as opener

Lovelady will serve as the opening pitcher in Saturday's game against Miami.

Lovelady has given up just one earned run in 7.2 innings since joining the Nationals in mid-April and will now be called upon to make his first career start in the majors. The 30-year-old southpaw will likely pitch the first inning of Saturday's contest before handing the game over to Zack Littell.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Resting Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Ruiz will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 0-for-3 during a win in Friday's series opener. Drew Millas will handle catching duties and bat eighth.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Back in lineup

Garcia (wrist) will start at first base and bat second against the Marlins on Saturday.

Garcia was held out of the starting nine for each of Washington's last four games, though he entered Friday's contest as a pinch hitter. Now back in the lineup, the 25-year-old will aim to turn things around offensively after starting May 0-for-9 with three strikeouts.
