  • Max Fried SP | NYY

    Braves' Max Fried: Starting Sunday

Fried (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's contest versus the Marlins, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The 30-year-old has been sidelined since July 21 as a result of left forearm neuritis, but he'll make his return to the rotation Sunday after missing the minimum amount of time. Fried will look to take advantage of Miami's subpar lineup in the series finale.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Not starting Saturday

Wisely isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wisely has gone 2-for-12 with two RBI over his past seven games, and he'll now get a chance to rest as the Giants prepare to take on Hunter Greene and the Reds. Casey Schmitt will get the nod at second and bat ninth.

  • Jordan Beck RF | COL

Rockies' Jordan Beck: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies reinstated Beck (hand) from the 10-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

A fractured left hand has kept Beck out since late May, though he's been playing in rehab games since July 23. The 23-year-old is 5-for-25 with two RBI and five runs scored since moving his rehab to Triple-A, and he'll remain with the Isotopes now that he's made a full recovery. He figures to be on the short list for a return to Colorado if the Rockies' outfield depth is tested down the stretch, even though he only holds a .514 OPS through 81 MLB plate appearances.

  • Jacob Bird RP | WAS

Rockies' Jake Bird: Sent back to minors

The Rockies optioned Bird to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Bird has struggled to find his footing in the majors this season, accumulating a 6.12 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over 25 innings out of the bullpen. He'll head back to Triple-A in order to right the ship, and his roster spot will be given to Tanner Gordon, who will start Saturday's game versus San Diego.

  • Tanner Gordon SP | COL

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Officially recalled for start

The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of his start Saturday against the Padres.

Gordon hasn't found much success through his first three MLB starts, surrendering 15 earned runs in just 15.1 innings while striking out 12 batters and walking two. Nonetheless, he'll rejoin the Rockies' rotation and presumably remain with the big-league club until German Marquez (elbow) returns from the IL. Jake Bird was optioned to Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Idle Saturday

Higashioka isn't in the Padres' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Higashioka's brief three-game hitting streak came to an end with an 0-for-3 performance Friday, and he'll now take a seat while Luis Campusano catches for Martin Perez.

  • Mike Siani CF | BAL

Cardinals' Michael Siani: Battling oblique injury

Siani was removed from Saturday's game against the Cubs due to right oblique tightness, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Siani had gone 0-for-3 with three strikeouts before his oblique forced him out of the game in the eighth inning. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but it's possible the Cardinals hold him out for another day or two so that he can properly recover.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Getting Saturday off

Lopez isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against Atlanta.

After going 1-for-4 with a stolen base during Friday's loss, Lopez will give way to Vidal Brujan at second base.

  • Forrest Wall LF | SD

Marlins' Forrest Wall: Headed back to Jacksonville

The Marlins optioned Wall to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Less than a week after coming up from the minors, Wall will now be sent back to Triple-A to make room for Cristian Pache, who was claimed off waivers from Baltimore on Friday. Wall was able to appear in three games for Miami during his latest MLB stint, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base.

  • Pirates' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Activated Saturday

The Pirates reinstated Kiner-Falefa (knee) from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

A sprained left knee forced Kiner-Falefa onto the injured list in July, and he was in the final stages of his rehab assignment when he was traded from Toronto to Pittsburgh at the trade deadline. The 29-year-old went 4-for-10 and scored two runs over three games while in the minors, and he figures to take over as the Pirates' primary second baseman now that he's healthy. Alika Williams was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.
