Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Cardinals' Kyle Gibson: Strikes out seven in no-decision
Gibson did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 win against the Cubs, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over seven innings.
Gibson allowed four runs over his first two innings but rebounded with five scoreless frames. The veteran was efficient, throwing 65 of 96 pitches for strikes and retiring the final seven batters he faced, but he has now yielded three earned runs or more in seven of his past 10 starts and has not won a game since July 7. On the year, he owns a 4.04 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 109:47 K:BB across 120.1 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Rays next week.

Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Trending toward return next week
Freeman (personal) could rejoin the Dodgers during their home series against the Phillies that begins Monday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Freeman has been away from the team since last Saturday, when he was placed on the family medical emergency list. The Dodgers transferred him to the restricted list Saturday, which temporarily removes him from the 40-man roster. While manager Dave Roberts didn't commit to a date for Freeman's return to the club, the first baseman looks to be trending toward an activation in the coming days. Cavan Biggio will likely move back into a reserve role once Freeman is reinstated.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto SP | LAD
Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Throws bullpen session Saturday
Yamamoto (triceps) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Yamamoto has been sidelined since June 16 with right triceps tightness, and the bullpen session was his first since he was placed on the injured list. Manager Dave Roberts said afterward that he was "excited about (Yamamoto's) command and velocity." Yamamoto has no exact timetable for his return, but if he's able to continue to progress without any setbacks, he could be activated from the 60-day IL in the next month or so.

Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | MIL
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Out again Saturday
Bae (knee) isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Saturday will mark the fourth game in a row that Bae has missed since he departed Monday's contest with a left knee injury. The Pirates haven't given any sort of indication that the 25-year-old is trending toward a stay on the injured list, but he may need to be placed on the IL if his condition doesn't improve soon. In the meantime, Michael Taylor will continue to fill in as Pittsburgh's center fielder.

Jake Cave LF | COL
Rockies' Jake Cave: Sitting versus southpaw
Cave is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Padres.
Cave will head to the bench as the team faces southpaw Marin Perez on the mound. Righty bat Hunter Goodman will take over in left field and bat eighth against San Diego.
-
Charlie Blackmon RF | COL
Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Sitting Saturday
Blackmon (head) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Padres.
Blackmon left Friday's 5-2 loss early after being struck in the face with an errant throw from San Diego's Xander Bogaerts, and Blackmon will now take a seat in Saturday's matchup. With left-hander Martin Perez on the mound, it's possible that Blackmon would've taken a seat anyway, so it's unclear if the injury or the matchup is the reason for his absence. Kris Bryant will slot in at designated hitter while Sam Hilliard enters the lineup in right field and bats ninth against San Diego.

Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Starting Sunday
Fried (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's contest versus the Marlins, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
The 30-year-old has been sidelined since July 21 as a result of left forearm neuritis, but he'll make his return to the rotation Sunday after missing the minimum amount of time. Fried will look to take advantage of Miami's subpar lineup in the series finale.
