  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: On bench Tuesday

Higashioka is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Higashioka and Luis Campusano have been alternating starts at catcher over the last six games, with each receiving three starts. Higashioka has a career-high 13 homers this season and an .800 OPS across 164 plate appearances.

  • Bryce Jarvis RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Bryce Jarvis: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Diamondbacks transferred Jarvis (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL ahead of his start Tuesday in Cleveland. Jarvis landed on the IL last with a right elbow sprain, and while it's not clear whether he will need surgery, the move to the 60-day IL effectively ends his season.

  • Diamondbacks' Humberto Castellanos: Sent packing to minors

The Diamondbacks optioned Castellanos to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Castellanos holds a 5.23 ERA and 7:4 K:BB over 10.1 relief innings with Arizona this season. He's been used mostly as a starting pitcher at Reno and could return to that role.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Available off bench Tuesday

Fortes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds due to quadriceps tightness but will be available off the bench, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Fortes departed Monday's contest due to the injury and was limited to running at 75 percent Tuesday. It remains to be seen if a stint on the injured list will be necessary. Ali Sanchez is working behind the plate and batting ninth.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Activated ahead of season debut

The Diamondbacks activated Rodriguez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Rodriguez has been out since spring training with left shoulder issues but is finally ready to make his season and Diamondbacks debut with a start Tuesday in Cleveland. The left-hander most recently completed a four-inning simulated game last week but did not make any rehab starts, so his workload figures to be muted somewhat initially and rust could also be a factor.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: On bench Tuesday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Brujan drew the start in center field Monday -- a position he could see regular work at moving forward -- but he'll take a seat Tuesday in favor of Cristian Pache. The pair are likely to share center field duties, but Derek Hill could mix in at the position.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Taking seat Tuesday

Murphy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Murphy has continued to split time behind the plate with Travis d'Arnaud, and he'll yield to d'Arnaud for Tuesday's series opener. Murphy is 5-for-16 with a solo homer in his last five games.

  • Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS

    Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Idle again

Lipscomb is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Lipscomb will cede third-base duties to Ildemaro Vargas for a second consecutive game. It hasn't been announced that Lipscomb is dealing with an injury, so it seems like his playing time is declining. Lipscomb is 4-for-37 (.108) at the plate since the All-Star break while Vargas is 10-for-30 (.333) during that stretch.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Taking seat Tuesday

Donovan is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Rays, Brendan Schaeffer of KMOV reports.

The left-handed hitting Donovan will begin this one on the bench as the Rays throw southpaw Jeffrey Springs. Tommy Pham will be in left field and Nolan Gorman will cover second base.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Out of lineup again

Nootbaar is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Brendan Schaeffer of KMOV reports.

Nootbaar has now been absent from the lineup for two straight games and three off the last four contests. He's slashing just .233/.296/.356 in 23 games since coming off the injured list a month ago. Tommy Pham, Victor Scott and Alec Burleson will make up the Cardinals' outfield Tuesday.
