  • Kolby Allard RP | CLE

Phillies' Kolby Allard: Optioned to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Allard to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Allard made two starts and one bulk relief appearance, posting a 3.46 ERA and 8:2 K:BB over 13 innings. With Taijuan Walker (finger) poised to return next week, Allard wasn't going to be needed as a rotation fill-in anymore.

  • Cal Stevenson CF | DET

Phillies' Cal Stevenson: Contract selected by Philly

The Phillies selected Stevenson's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Giants in late May but was designated for assignment before receiving a look in the big leagues. Stevenson has spent the past two months at Lehigh Valley, where he has a .304/.419/.484 slash line with seven homers and 27 steals in 90 games. He'll provide outfield depth as Austin Hays (hamstring) heads to the injured list.

  • Austin Hays LF | SD

Phillies' Austin Hays: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

The Phillies placed Hays on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Hays suffered the injury in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers and hasn't made enough progress to avoid the IL. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. While Hays is out, the Phillies figure to go with Brandon Marsh in left field and Johan Rojas in center field most days.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: On bench against RHP

Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

Even with right-hander Michael Lorenzen on the mound for Kansas City, the lefty-hitting Nootbaar is absent from the starting nine. Friday's contest marks Nootbaar's fourth time on the bench in nine games. Brendan Donovan, Victor Scott and Tommy Pham will fill the outfield.

  • Zach Logue RP | LAD

Braves' Zach Logue: Joining big-league club

Atlanta recalled Logue from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

While it'll be Logue's second MLB stint of 2024, he's yet to appear in a game for Atlanta this season. In 20 appearances (12 starts) at Triple-A, the left-hander has logged a 2.93 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP across 83.0 innings. Parker Dunshee was optioned to Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

  • Parker Dunshee RP | ATL

Braves' Parker Dunshee: Heading back to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Dunshee to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Dunshee's contract was selected Thursday, and he threw 2.1 innings in Thursday's 16-7 loss to Milwaukee, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks. The outing marked the 29-year-old's MLB debut. Zach Logue was recalled from Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Getting breather

Higashioka is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins.

After catching back-to-back games, Higashioka will yield to Luis Campusano behind the dish Friday. During those two starts, Higashioka went 2-for-7 with a three-run homer and a stolen base.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Idle against lefty

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Sanchez will avoid a matchup with southpaw Martin Perez on Friday. Kyle Stowers, Derek Hill and David Hensley fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

    Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Sitting Friday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Brujan will be on the bench against the Padres, who'll start southpaw Martin Perez. Brujan has now been absent from the starting lineup in four consecutive games against left-handed pitching despite having a better OPS (.636) against lefties than righties (.616) this season.

  • PJ Morlando OF | MIA

Marlins' PJ Morlando: Done for season with back injury

Morlando will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a lumbar stress reaction, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Morlando played just one game with Single-A Jupiter before suffering the injury. There don't appear to be any long-term concerns for the 19-year-old, but with just a month left in the minor-league season, there's simply not enough time for Morlando to make it back. The 16th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Morlando is expected to have a normal offseason.
