  • Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Three hits Tuesday

Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Nimmo led the Mets with three hits Tuesday, though he only crossed the plate once and couldn't drive in any runs on a night when the Mets scored eight. It was Nimmo's first three-hit effort since the very beginning of the month, and he's gone without an RBI over his last five games. Nimmo has driven in a career-best 72 runs this year but his batting average is down significantly compared to the last few seasons. For the year, he's slashing .230/.341/.410 with 18 homers, 72 runs scored, 11 steals and a 68:133 BB:K in 542 plate appearances.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Homers in Tuesday's win

Alonso went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Alonso homered in his first at-bat to lead off the second inning but was unable to do any more damage. His home run put him at 220 for his career and tied him with Mike Piazza for third most in Mets history. Alonso has struck out eight times over his last four games but, he is also managing to get on base, reaching safely in nine of his last 10 games. For the year, he's slashing .245/.330/.470 with 28 homers, 72 RBI, 74 runs, three steals and a 57:134 BB:K in 569 plate appearances.

  • Sam Hilliard LF | COL

Rockies' Sam Hilliard: Homers in loss

Hilliard went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 9-8 loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Hilliard has started consecutive games in center field while Brenton Doyle (leg) is dealing with an injury. Playing time has been inconsistent for Hilliard in August, though he's batting a respectable .282 (11-for-39) with five extra-base hits and eight RBI this month. The outfielder is at a .247/.298/.471 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI, 17 runs scored and four stolen bases over 97 plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Lifts solo shot in loss

Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the Marlins.

Blackmon led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot, and he scored again in the second on Ezequiel Tovar's second homer of the contest. Blackmon went just 2-for-18 over five games during the Rockies' road trip last week. He's now at nine homers and 41 RBI this season, surpassing his totals from 2023 in both categories while adding a .249/.323/.391 slash line, 50 runs scored and five stolen bases over 100 games in 2024.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Bounces back in big way

Tovar went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and four total RBI in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the Marlins.

Tovar had just one homer while batting .178 over his first 21 games in August. He sat out Monday due to a sports hernia, and it appears the rest did him some good, though it helps the Rockies are facing the Marlins. Tovar is up to 21 homers, 59 RBI, 71 runs scored, four stolen bases, 38 doubles and a .274/.298/.470 slash line through 128 contests overall. It wouldn't be surprising for Tovar to see more regular rest days if his sports hernia flares up again.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Rockies' Cal Quantrill: Walks five in no-decision

Quantrill allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out two over 5.2 innings to take a no-decision versus the Marlins on Tuesday.

The five walks matched his season high. Quantrill exited in line for the win, but the Rockies' ninth-inning collapse denied him his ninth victory. The veteran right-hander has allowed 25 runs (24 earned) over 35.2 innings since the All-Star break, and he's posted a 25:18 K:BB in that span. He's now at a 4.63 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 103:57 K:BB through 138 innings over 26 starts this year. Quantrill's next start is projected to be at home this weekend versus the Orioles.

  • Kyle Stowers 1B | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Homer, triple in win

Stowers went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a triple and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Rockies.

This was Stowers' second multi-hit effort in a row, while the long ball was his first as a Marlin. He's had some trouble adjusting to his new team, batting just .173 (13-for-75) with 30 strikeouts over 24 contests since he was traded from the Orioles. For the year, he has a .216/.267/.333 slash line with two homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and no stolen bases over 120 plate appearances.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Lifts go-ahead homer

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double, an additional RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Rockies.

Sanchez got the Marlins on the board in the third inning with an RBI double and then delivered a go-ahead homer in the ninth to complete the comeback. The outfielder has driven in eight runs over his last three games. He's up to a .242/.298/.426 slash line with 17 homers, 56 RBI, 45 runs scored, nine stolen bases and 20 doubles through 121 contests overall.

  • Calvin Faucher RP | MIA

Marlins' Calvin Faucher: Strikes out side for save

Faucher struck out three batters in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Rockies.

Faucher needed 18 pitches, but he got the job done cleanly after the Marlins rallied ahead in the top of the ninth inning. The right-hander is up to four saves in five opportunities since he became the Marlins' closer at the end of July. He's allowed six runs and posted a 13:5 K:BB over 10 innings in August, so he hasn't been dominant, but there are few other options to challenge him on a rebuilding team. Overall, Faucher has a 3.44 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB through 49.2 innings this year.

  • Roddery Munoz RP | HOU

Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Can't keep ball down

Munoz allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over 1.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Tuesday.

Munoz had given up eight homers over his last six starts, so a visit to the thin air of Colorado was a recipe for disaster. He gave up back-to-back home runs to begin the first inning and then allowed another in the second. The Marlins' ninth-inning rally spared him the loss, but Munoz continues to look overmatched in the majors. He's allowed at least three runs in five straight starts and now has a 6.53 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 70:42 K:BB through 82.2 innings over 18 appearances (17 starts) this season. He's also given up 26 homers, making him one of two pitchers this year to have allowed 20 or more long balls in fewer than 100 innings, along with Cleveland's Logan Allen. Munoz is tentatively projected to make his next start at San Francisco.
