Burleson went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and four total RBI in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Cubs. Burleson has homered in consecutive contests, and he's driven in 13 runs over his last seven games. He is batting .340 (17-for-50) over 14 games in August as he continues to be a consistent producer in the heart of the Cardinals' lineup. Burleson is hitting .288 with an .849 OPS, 21 homers, 90 RBI, 69 runs scored, 31 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 123 contests.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Swats homer No. 20

Burleson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Cubs. The 27-year-old slugger capped the scoring for the Cardinals with a solo shot off Collin Rea in the eighth inning. While his performance was overshadowed by Joshua Baez's history-making three-homer day in his MLB debut, Burleson achieved a milestone of his own, becoming the first player in the majors this season with 30 doubles and 20 homers. Over 13 games in August, Burleson is batting .311 (14-for-45) with five long balls, 11 runs and 15 RBI.

Burleson went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Phillies. The two-bagger was Burleson's MLB-leading 30th of the season, and it brought home two runs as part of a fifth-inning rally that broke open a 1-1 tie. Burleson has been an RBI machine in August, batting .342 (13-for-38) through 11 games with three doubles, four homers, eight runs and 13 RBI.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Drills three more hits

Burleson went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Reds. Burleson collected his sixth multi-hit effort in the last nine games with this performance. He's also driven in a run in consecutive contests. Burleson's power has dried up a bit -- he has gone 14 games without a home run, logging five doubles and five RBI in that span. He's hitting .289 with an .819 OPS, 15 home runs, 71 RBI, 56 runs scored, 26 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 104 contests this season, so fantasy managers will have to satisfied with consistency while waiting for his over-the-fence swing to return.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Three-hit effort Saturday

Burleson went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Reds. Burleson alone matched the Reds' hit total in the contest. For the season, the 27-year-old is batting .285 with an .813 OPS, 15 home runs, 70 RBI, 55 runs scored, 25 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases across 103 games.

He doesn't have an extra-base hit and has added just two RBI in that span. The first baseman is batting .282 with an .809 OPS on the year, and he's supplied 15 home runs, 69 RBI, 53 runs scored, 23 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 99 contests as a consistent part of the Cardinals' lineup.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Homer and double in win

Burleson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 5-1 victory against the Brewers. Burleson crushed a 443-foot, two-run shot over the right-field wall to extend St. Louis' lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning. Although he has struggled against left-handed pitching all season (.497 OPS), Burleson did most of his damage Wednesday against them, including the home run off Brewers reliever Jared Koenig. The 27-year-old Burleson now has a .277/.339/.474 slash line with 15 homers and 66 RBI through 90 games this year.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Enters Tuesday's lineup

Burleson will start at first base and bat seventh Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Burleson was originally in line to receive a day off Tuesday with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for Arizona, but Masyn Winn's thumb injury will put Burleson back in the starting nine. The 27-year-old owns a career-best .847 OPS on the season through 330 plate appearances, though that number plummets to just .463 when he's matched up against a southpaw.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Tallies season-high three RBI

Burleson went 3-for-4 with a three RBI, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals. It was the second three-hit effort of the season already for Burleson, who recorded a season-high three RBI. With Willson Contreras, Brendan Donovan and Nolan Arenado all with new clubs for 2026, Burleson has hit third in the lineup in each of St. Louis' first 12 games. Overall, he is batting .273 with one homer, two doubles, 10 RBI and one stolen base over 44 at-bats.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Homers in three-hit effort

Burleson went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Thursday's 9-7 win over the Rays. The Cardinals lost several key hitters this offseason, as Willson Contreras, Brendan Donovan and Nolan Arenado have all gone elsewhere, but Burleson opened the season as St. Louis' No. 3 hitter and should maintain strong RBI upside from this spot. The 27-year-old hit a career-high .290 with 18 homers, 26 doubles and 69 RBI over 497 regular-season at-bats a year ago, and he's off to a fast start in 2026 with his Opening Day long ball.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Reaches deal with St. Louis

The Cardinals and Burleson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.3 million contract Thursday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Burleson receives a well-earned raise in what was his first year of arbitration eligibility. The 27-year-old has made a steady progression offensively for the Cardinals, finishing the 2025 campaign with a .290/.343/.459 batting line and 18 home runs. Burleson is slated to take over as the everyday first baseman in 2026 after spending most of his first four seasons playing the outfield.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Shifting to first base

Burleson will become the Cardinals' everyday first baseman in 2026 following the trade of Willson Contreras (shoulder) to the Red Sox, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Burleson has primarily played the outfield in pro ball, but he has ample experience at first base, as well, having made 38 starts there during the 2025 season. The 27-year-old will have dual eligibility in fantasy leagues in 2026, but it's unclear whether he will see enough action in the outfield to retain eligibility there heading into 2027. The left-handed-hitting Burleson greatly improved versus left-handed pitching in 2025 -- slashing an adequate .271/.310/.398 -- and the Cardinals intend to give him everyday reps in 2026 rather than saddling him with a platoon partner.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Set for Monday return

Burleson (wrist) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Mariners, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Burleson will make his return to the Cardinals without going out on a rehab assignment beforehand. The 26-year-old slashed .286/.337/.451 with 16 home runs and five stolen bases across 470 plate appearances before being deactivated Aug. 29 due to right wrist inflammation.

  • Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Aiming to return for SEA series

Burleson (wrist) is slated to return from the 10-day injured list at some point during the Cardinals' three-game road series against the Mariners starting Monday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Burleson is rehabbing from right wrist inflammation that caused him to be placed on the 10-day IL in late August. He's increased his baseball activities over the past few days, and it appears the 26-year-old outfielder will not need a rehab assignment and join the Cardinals in Seattle early next week.
