Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals.

The outfielder turned on a Mitchell Parker pitch in the fourth inning for his first long ball of the spring. Sanchez dealt with a sore elbow earlier in camp and has struggled to find his timing at the plate, going 3-for-22 (.136) in nine Grapefruit League appearances with a 2:7 BB:K. He's healthy now however, and he could even open the season as the starting center fielder given the Marlins' lack of appealing options at the position.

Edwards went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals.

The steals were the first of the spring for Edwards, who is batting .320 (8-for-25) through nine Grapefruit League appearances. After a breakout 2024 season, the shortstop is looking to build on a performance that saw him swipe 31 bags in 35 attempts over just 70 games while delivering a .328/.397/.423 slash line.

Alcantara gave up two unearned runs on four hits over 2.2 innings in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The right-hander tossed 57 pitches (33 strikes) as he continues building up ahead of an Opening Day assignment for the Marlins. Alcantara missed the entire 2024 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he worked over 180 innings each of the prior three seasons, and manager Clayton McCullough indicated over the weekend that Miami's ace would not face a hard innings limit in 2025. Alcantara hasn't done anything this spring to suggest he needs one, posting a 0.00 ERA and 8:2 K:BB over 8.1 innings.

Norby went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals.

The third baseman took Shinnosuke Ogasawara deep in the first inning, giving Norby his first homer of the spring. The 24-year-old slashed .247/.315/.445 with seven homers and 17 RBI in 36 games last season for the Marlins after being acquired from the O's, and while his minor-league track record suggests he can improve on those numbers once he gets comfortable in the Show, his 32.1 percent strikeout rate with Miami needs work. Norby's gone 8-for-28 (.286) through nine appearances this spring, but that comes with a 1:7 BB:K.

Arcia has gone 1-for-15 (.067) over nine Grapefruit league appearances this spring.

The shortstop is better known for his glove, but Arcia has slugged 17 homers in each of the last two regular seasons, even if his OPS dropped from .741 in 2023 to .625 last year. The 30-year-old hasn't yet found his timing in camp, but his job wouldn't seem to be in any jeopardy, especially given the limited options behind him in the system. A healthy Nacho Alvarez might have made a push, but the 21-year-old has been dealing with a wrist injury this spring.

The Rockies optioned Fernandez to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Fernandez is still waiting to make his MLB debut, but he's heading into his second season as a member of the 40-man roster and could be in line to join the Rockies at some point in 2025. The 22-year-old outfielder will first need to show improvement after struggling in his initial taste of the Pacific Coast League upon being promoted from Double-A Hartford last August. Over his 138 plate appearances with Albuquerque, Fernandez slashed .211/.268/.313 with two home runs and 18 RBI.

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Gordon made eight starts for the Rockies over the final three months of last season and logged an 8.65 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 34.1 innings. With German Marquez, Antonio Senzatela and Kyle Freeland all healthy in spring training after missing considerable time in 2024, Gordon wasn't viewed as a strong candidate to crack the Opening Day rotation. He'll continue to handle a starting role in Albuquerque to begin the upcoming season.

Mitchell went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.

Mitchell has picked up at least one base knock in six of his last seven spring appearances, and since the start of that stretch he has racked up three doubles and a homer. Health has been an issue for Mitchell, but he posted an .811 OPS last season. If he can stay on the field consistently in 2025, his counting stats appear primed to pick up.

Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBI in Monday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.

Ortiz went just 1-for-10 in the four spring games he appeared in last month, but he has gotten hot since the calendar flipped to March, going 7-for-13 (.538) with four extra-base hits and three steals. The Brewers have not yet decided whether Ortiz or Brice Turang will be the primary shortstop, but expect Ortiz to see regular action one way or another.

Chourio went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs in Monday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.

Chourio shined as a rookie and has picked up where he left off this spring, going 9-for-23 (.391) with a 3:2 BB:K while recording both a trio of doubles and steals. Chourio -- who turned 21 years old Tuesday -- will play regularly in 2025, and it looks like he will occupy a prominent spot in the batting order, as he has hit either leadoff or second in eight of the nine exhibition contests he has appeared in to date.
