Irvin didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's loss versus the Phillies. He allowed two runs, seven hits and two walks over five innings, striking out two.

Irvin was a workhorse last year in Washington with 187.2 innings pitched, but he lasted just five innings in his first start of the season. He was lifted at 83 pitches, but he should be able to go longer as he continues to build up his pitch count. He held the Phillies scoreless through three innings before giving up a two-run homer to Bryson Stott in the fourth inning. The righty left the game in a 2-2 tie before the Washington bullpen surrendered nine runs over the final four frames. He will look for his first win of the season in an expected start next week against the Diamondbacks.

Luzardo (1-0) got the win on Saturday versus the Nationals, striking out 11 batters while allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings.

The left-hander made his Phillies' debut and was electric aside from a two-run homer off the bat of Keibert Ruiz, Luzardo struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth inning and then watched his offense erupt for five runs in the top of the sixth inning to break open a 2-2 tie, putting him in line for the win. Sitting at 95 pitches, his day was done from there. Luzardo is lined up for a tough matchup against the Dodgers next week.

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a loss to the Phillies on Saturday.

The first baseman connected for his first homer of the year, a two-run shot with the Nationals down 11-3 in the eighth inning. Lowe added an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little, too late. In 2022, Lowe blasted 27 home runs for the Rangers, but his power numbers dipped to 17 and 16 in the two seasons that followed. Now with a new team, he'll hope to find his power stroke again in 2025.

Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in a 11-6 loss to the Phillies on Saturday.

The catcher hit his second homer in as many games after taking a changeup from Jesus Luzardo the other way 414 feet to left-center field. The blast gave Washington an early 2-0 lead that it would ultimately not be able to hold. Ruiz hit 31 home runs in the previous two seasons as Washington's primary catcher, but he's showing more power early in 2025.

Stott went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, two additional runs and two walks in the Phillies' 11-6 win over Washington on Saturday.

The second baseman was a menace against the Nationals and provided plenty of thump at the bottom of the Philadelphia lineup. His two-run homer in the fourth inning tied the ballgame at 2-2, and he scored again in the sixth inning on a wild pitch before his final run in the seventh inning. Stott went hitless Opening Day and slumped to a .245 average during the regular season last year, but there's optimism he can rebound closer to the .280 average he posted as a sophomore in 2023.

Marsh went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and additional run in a 11-6 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

With the Phillies ahead 7-3 in the seventh inning, Marsh put the game out of reach with a three-run shot to right field on the first pitch he saw. It's the first homer of the season for the 27-year-old outfielder, who had a productive 2024 regular season with 16 homers, 60 RBI and a .747 OPS over 418 at-bats.

Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in a 11-6 win over Washington on Saturday. He also had two strikeouts.

With Edmundo Sosa and Brandon Marsh aboard during the sixth inning, Schwarber deposited a Lucas Sims' sweeper into the stands for his second home run in as many games for the Phils. The 32-year-old slugger launched 38 homers in 2024 and is on his way to matching that to begin 2025.

Vasquez did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 1-0 win over Atlanta. He allowed four walks and four hits while striking out three across six scoreless innings.

Although he wasn't as effective as counterpart Spencer Schwellenbach, Vasquez was able to induce double plays in the first and fourth inning and got out of another sticky situation in the sixth to keep Atlanta off the board. Vasquez was able to beat out Stephen Kolek for the final spot in the Padres' rotation in spring training, and the former's performance Saturday has validated that decision for the time being. Vasquez's next start is tentatively slated for next weekend against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Ozuna went 0-for-1 with three walks and one strikeout during Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Padres.

Ozuna struck out in the first inning, but he showed more discipline over his next three plate appearances and managed to draw three walks for the fifth time in his major-league career. Ozuna has gone 2-for-7 with six walks and two RBI across the first three games of the season.

Bummer (0-1) took the loss against the Padres on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two across two-thirds of an inning.

Bummer was called into action for the seventh inning after Spencer Schwellenbach tossed six scoreless frames. Bummer came out firing with two straight strikeouts, but he was lifted after giving up a ground-rule double to Jake Cronenworth and intentionally walking Xander Bogaerts, with Cronenworth coming around to score after Bummer's exit. The left-hander has given up a run in each of his first two outings of the 2025 season, but he'll likely remain in the high-leverage mix in Atlanta for now.
