McGreevy won't start during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers in order to get some extra rest, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The right-hander was lined up to start in Tuesday's twin bill, but St. Louis will instead have Matt Svanson as the opener and Bruce Zimmermann as the bulk reliever in Game 1 while Hunter Dobbins starts the nightcap. There's been no indication of an injury for McGreevy, who has given up just two runs across 12 innings over his past two starts. He'll instead take the mound Wednesday versus Milwaukee.

The Brewers designated Gasser as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, and he's scheduled to start the second game of the twin bill.

The left-hander was optioned to the minors last week, but the expectation all along was that he would rejoin the big club to pitch in Tuesday's doubleheader. Gasser has a 4.54 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB across 35.2 innings (seven starts) in the majors this season, though he's been more effective in his past three outings with a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.

The Cardinals transferred Rajcic (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL Tuesday.

The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for left-hander Bruce Zimmermann, who was called up ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Brewers. Per Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, Rajcic will travel to Dallas for a second opinion with Dr. Keith Meister, and the Cardinals have "real concern" that the reliever has a serious elbow injury.

The Brewers optioned Perkins to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old hasn't started a game since June 29 and has just six at-bats over the past two weeks, so the Brewers will send him down in favor of top prospect Luis Lara. Perkins could get another look with Milwaukee if its outfield depth is tested later this summer, but his .157/.250/.258 slash line in 53 plate appearances is unlikely to result in him working as more than a bench player.

The Cardinals recalled Dobbins from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Dobbins is serving as the 27th man during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers and is slated to start the second game. The right-hander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 17.1 innings during his time with the big club this season. Dobbins is likely to be sent back down after his spot start.

The Cardinals optioned Fernandez to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Fernandez took the loss in Monday's game versus the Brewers, getting charged with three runs (two earned) without recording an out. He's pitched well this season with a 2.70 ERA and 20:7 K:BB over 13.1 frames, but the Cardinals are desperate for fresh bullpen arms. Fernandez should be back in the big leagues soon enough.

The Brewers recalled Lara from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

There were some conflicting reports about whether Milwaukee would be promoting the 21-year-old Tuesday while David Hamilton (hamstring) continues to be evaluated, but the top prospect has now officially been called up ahead of the doubleheader in St. Louis. Lara inked a seven-year, $31 million extension with the Brewers in early June and has been an offensive force at Nashville this year with a .324/.436/.474 slash line, nine home runs and 24 steals in 78 games. Milwaukee's starting outfield is currently in good health, so Lara may have to settle for a semi-regular role unless the club is willing to give him a look in right field over Sal Frelick.

The Cardinals selected Zimmermann's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Zimmermann is slated to work in bulk relief in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers. The left-hander has had a solid season in Memphis' rotation, turning in a 3.78 ERA and 84:21 K:BB over 78.2 innings. His stay in the majors is likely to be brief.

The Brewers have not yet made a decision on a potential promotion of Lara from Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

A report from Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com earlier Tuesday indicated that Lara would be called up ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader in St. Louis. While that could still happen, the Brewers won't make a decision until the MRI results on David Hamilton's left hamstring are in. Lara has produced a .321/.432/.470 batting line with nine home runs, 24 stolen bases and a 54:48 BB:K over 78 contests with Nashville this season.

Adam said Friday that an MRI on his right shoulder revealed no major structural damage, and he's hopeful to return from the 15-day injured list in early-to-mid August, MLB.com reports.

While Adam looks to have avoided a significant injury, the righty reliever will need more than the minimum 15 days to recover from the shoulder strain that forced him to the shelf last week and won't be ready to rejoin the San Diego bullpen coming out of the All-Star break. A 2025 All-Star selection, Adam's numbers have taken a slight step back in 2026, but he's still proven to be a reliable setup man in front of closer Mason Miller. The 34-year-old posted a 2.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB while notching two wins, two saves and 17 holds over 32.1 innings in his 36 appearances before landing on the injured list.
