  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Delivers five scoreless frames

Holmes did not factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing three hits and a walk across five scoreless innings. He struck out five. Since returning to Atlanta's rotation, Holmes has given up just one earned run on eight hits across 10 frames in two starts. He's given up just two runs in his last four appearances (18.2 innings) overall. Holmes' ERA now sits at 3.61 on the season with a 1.32 WHIP and 76:39 K:BB across 87.1 innings.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Wins in return to rotation

Holmes (5-4) earned the win against the Mets on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts over five innings. Holmes allowed a two-run homer in the third inning but kept the Mets off the board otherwise, throwing 56 of 82 pitches for strikes with eight whiffs. The 30-year-old has now yielded just two earned runs over his past three appearances, including one in bulk relief, and owns a 3.83 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 71:38 K:BB across 82.1 innings this season. It's currently unclear what his role will be for his next outing.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Might remain in bullpen

Holmes could remain in Atlanta's bullpen moving forward, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Holmes made 15 starts for Atlanta before tossing four scoreless relief innings during his last appearance against the Giants on Saturday. While Holmes could make another start Thursday versus the Cardinals if Hurston Waldrep is needed in relief Wednesday, the club's preference is to keep Holmes in the bullpen. The right-hander has collected a 3.96 ERA and 69:37 K:BB over 77.1 frames this season.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Inefficient in tough-luck loss

Holmes (4-4) allowed one run on three hits and five walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus San Diego on Monday. Holmes threw 53 of 91 pitches for strikes. Manny Machado's solo shot in the fourth inning was the lone run, but Holmes' five walks were a season high that made this outing worse than what the runs column would suggest. The right-hander's June has been a bit disrupted, with a short start versus the White Sox on June 9 before his last outing was abbreviated by rain against the Giants. He's given up nine runs over 16.1 innings with a 12:12 K:BB over his four starts this month. Overall, Holmes has a 4.17 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 65:37 K:BB across 73.1 innings through 15 starts. Until he can trim down his 4.5 BB/9, he'll be a risky option in fantasy. Holmes' next start is projected to be in San Francisco over the weekend.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Takes no-decision in short start

Holmes did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings. Holmes turned in his shortest start of the season Tuesday, as the right-hander surrendered a two-run homer to Miguel Vargas in the third inning before allowing another run to score in the fourth. After that run crossed the plate, Holmes loaded the bases and was lifted before he could escape the jam. While the abbreviated outing was disappointing, Holmes has done a decent job limiting damage this season, holding opponents to three or fewer runs in 12 of his 13 starts. He now owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 59:29 K:BB across 66.2 innings and is lined up to face the Mets in his next start.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Early exit in no-decision

Holmes didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 8-3 win over the Reds, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out five. The right-hander got handed a 4-0 lead before he took the mound for the bottom of the second inning, but Holmes wasn't efficient enough to stick around and collect the win, getting lifted after 80 pitches (52 strikes) with the tying runner on base for Cincy. Holmes put together a bumpy May, going 1-1 in five starts with a 4.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB over 24.2 innings. He'll try to tighten things up in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Blue Jays.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Goes six scoreless in win

Holmes (3-1) earned the win against the Red Sox on Sunday, allowing five hits and one walk while generating four strikeouts over six innings. Holmes was efficient, throwing 58 of 87 pitches for strikes and earning his fourth quality start of the year. It marked the second time in nine outings the 30-year-old walked only one batter, and he's now yielded three earned runs or fewer eight times. He'll carry a 3.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 38:22 K:BB across 47.1 innings into a home matchup against the Nationals next weekend.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Limits Cubs in no-decision

Holmes did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out five over four innings. Holmes looked strong through three innings, allowing only one baserunner, before faltering in the fourth. The only hit he allowed all day came in the inning, a solo homer by Alex Bregman, and he immediately unraveled afterward by issuing three straight walks to load the bases before allowing an RBI groundout. The right-hander has had trouble working deep into games lately, failing to complete six innings in four of his last five starts while also surrendering five home runs during that stretch. Holmes now owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 34:21 K:BB across 41.1 innings and is scheduled to face Boston next.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Subpar showing in no-decision

Holmes didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Rockies, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks across five innings. He struck out four. This was far from Holmes' best outing, though the expectations weren't very high considering the disadvantage that Coors Field represents from a pitching perspective. The reality is that Holmes has been trending in the wrong direction, as he has just one quality start over his last four outings. During that stretch, the right-hander has a 5.95 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with a 15:9 K:BB across 19.2 innings. He's scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Mariners next week.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Six Ks in 6.2 strong innings

Holmes (1-1) notched the win Wednesday against the Angels, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out six. Holmes was tagged for a pair of extra-base hits, with one leaving the yard, but he otherwise produced a very strong outing. The right-hander generated 13 whiffs, and he notably escaped a bases-loaded jam to finish a two-run second inning and limit the damage. Holmes owns a 2.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB over 17.2 innings, and he should maintain streaming appeal with a favorable matchup versus the Marlins set for his next start.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Strong showing against Arizona

Holmes allowed a hit and three walks while striking out four over six shutout innings in a no-decision versus Arizona on Friday. Holmes and Eduardo Rodriguez had a pitchers' duel. While Holmes didn't last as long in the game, exiting at 85 pitches (52 strikes) over his six frames, Atlanta got the win in the end with a two-run ninth inning. Holmes has allowed three runs over 11 innings across his two starts, scattering six hits while posting an 8:5 K:BB so far. The right-hander had some positive moments in 2025, pitching to a 3.99 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 123:54 K:BB across 115 innings over 22 regular-season appearances (21 starts). He'll still need to improve at limiting walks, but he's shown enough strikeout potential to be an interesting fantasy option. The 30-year-old's next start is projected to be on the road against the Angels.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Dominant outing against Bucs

Holmes struck out nine and walked one over five scoreless, no-hit innings in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. The right-hander built up to 64 pitches (41 strikes) as he dominated a Pittsburgh lineup that featured most of its likely Opening Day starters, including Bryan Reynolds, Ryan O'Hearn and Marcell Ozuna. Holmes has yet to allow an earned run this spring, posting a 16:6 K:BB through 12.1 innings, and he's locked into an Opening Day rotation spot due to injuries to Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow), Hurston Waldrep (elbow) and Joey Wentz (knee).

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Blanks Twins in Sunday's start

Holmes allowed one hit and one walk over 2.2 scoreless innings during Sunday's split-squad game against the Twins. He struck out two. Facing a good chunk of Minnesota's likely Opening Day lineup, Holmes tossed just 23 of 46 pitches for strikes but escaped jams in the first and third innings. The 29-year-old right-hander worked a career-high 115 innings in 2025 before his season ended in July due to a partial UCL tear in his elbow, but so far in camp it looks like his decision to treat the issue with rest and rehab rather than surgery was the correct one. Through two Grapefruit League appearances, Holmes has thrown 4.2 scoreless frames with a 4:2 K:BB.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Shifted to 60-day IL

Atlanta transferred Holmes (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday. Earlier Sunday, Atlanta placed Holmes on the 15-day IL due to right elbow inflammation, but the club's decision to shift him to the 60-day IL suggests that follow-up tests may have revealed a more significant injury. As a result of the transaction, the earliest Holmes could return to action is Sept. 26, so his season his most likely over. The transaction will open up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Erick Fedde, whom Atlanta acquired from St. Louis on Sunday and could immediately slot into the rotation. Over his 21 starts prior to landing on the IL, Holmes posted a 4-9 record, 3.99 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 123:54 K:BB in 115 innings.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Moves to injured list

Atlanta placed Holmes on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. The right-hander exited his start in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers after four innings due to the injury, and he'll be sidelined for at least the next couple of weeks and potentially longer. Atlanta now has all five members of its Opening Day rotation on the IL, with Holmes joining Chris Sale (ribs), Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow), Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) and AJ Smith-Shawver (elbow) on the shelf.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Dismal outing in St. Louis

Holmes took a no-decision Friday against the Cardinals, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out one. It was one of the worst outings of the season for Holmes, who established a season low in strikeouts and yielded his most runs since May 7. Friday marked the 29-year-old right-hander's shortest appearance among his 19 starts, and the nine hits allowed set a season high. Holmes still owns a steady 3.77 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 119:50 K:BB across 105 frames ahead of the All-Star break, and his spot should remain solidified in Atlanta's injury-ravaged rotation.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Mixed results in win

Holmes (4-6) earned the win against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing five hits and five walks with five strikeouts over 5.2 scoreless innings. Holmes kept the Marlins off the board despite issuing a season-high five walks, with all 13 of his swinging strikes coming on the slider. While the 29-year-old has just two wins over his past 10 starts, he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of those outings. He'll take a 3.71 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 97:39 K:BB across 85 innings into a road matchup with the Mets next week.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Starting against Rockies

Holmes will start Sunday against the Rockies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Chris Sale was originally scheduled to start, but Atlanta will push him back to its upcoming series against the Mets. Holmes will draw a more favorable matchup as a result, but he has a 5.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across his last 14.1 innings (three starts).

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Tosses quality start Saturday

Holmes allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Boston on Saturday. Holmes struggled with his control in the contest, throwing just 57 of 99 pitches for strikes and tying a season high with four free passes, but he mostly managed to limit the damage. The only runs against the right-hander came on a two-run blast by Jarren Duran in the third inning. Holmes finished with his second straight quality start and his third such effort in his past four outings. During that span, he's posted a 3.42 ERA along with a 23:8 K:BB across 23.2 frames. Despite the imminent return of Spencer Strider (hamstring), Holmes is set to remain in Atlanta's rotation, and his next start lines up to come at home against the Padres.

  • Braves' Grant Holmes: Limits Nats to one run

Holmes allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday. Holmes faced the minimum number of batters through the first three innings and his only blemish came in the fourth frame, when he yielded a solo home run to James Wood. Holmes recorded nine groundouts while generating 11 whiffs on 79 pitches (49 strikes) en route to his third quality start of the season. He has a 4.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB across 45.1 innings, and he's lined up to face the Red Sox on the road this weekend.
