Marsh is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians.

Even with right-hander Gavin Williams on the mound for Cleveland, Marsh is sitting for the second time in three days. Johan Rojas is starting in center field and batting eighth for Philadelphia. Marsh has struggled to the tune of a .170/.274/.264 slash line with just one home run and seven RBI across 63 plate appearances this season.

Realmuto is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians.

Realmuto fouled a ball off his foot Wednesday and was forced to leave the game but returned to the starting lineup Thursday. Friday appears to be a routine day off for the veteran catcher, as Rafael Marchan is behind the dish and batting ninth for the Phillies. Realmuto is slashing .237/.313/.373 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases on the season.

Vientos is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Vientos is sitting for the second straight game. With Vientos on the bench, Brett Baty is making the start at third base and batting sixth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. Vientos is slashing .220/.301/.370 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and a 15:30 BB:K on the season.

Valdez is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Valdez had started each of the previous 18 games at first base against right-handed pitching, but he will begin this one on the bench as Atlanta sends righty Bryce Elder to the hill. Matt Gorski will play first base and bat sixth for the Pirates.

The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Monasterio slashed just .208/.303/.272 over 59 games with Milwaukee last season. He will be used as a utility infielder.

The Brewers recalled Hudson from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Hudson posted a 4.15 ERA and 9:9 K:BB across 8.2 innings with the Brewers earlier this season but showed better control at Nashville with no walks in four frames. He'll operate in middle relief.

Tena is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Tena has handled most of the reps at third base against right-handed pitching over the last few weeks for the Nationals, but he will begin Friday's festivities on the bench as the Cardinals send righty Erick Fedde to the bump. Amed Rosario is at the hot corner and batting sixth Friday.

Herrera is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth in Friday's game against the Nationals.

It's Herrera's first game with the Cardinals in more than a month as he returns from a left knee bone bruise. While Herrera will see the bulk of the reps at catcher against right-handed pitching, he could be the primary DH versus lefties after the previous holder of that title -- Luken Baker -- was optioned to Triple-A Memphis. The Nationals are starting southpaw Mitchell Parker in Friday's series opener.

Arenado (back) will start at third base and bat cleanup in Friday's game versus the Nationals.

Arenado was a late scratch from the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday due to back spasms, but he's feeling well enough to play following the team's off day Thursday. The veteran third baseman will carry a modest four-game hitting streak into Friday's series opener.

The Cardinals reinstated Herrera (knee) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The 24-year-old backstop has been cleared to rejoin the big-league roster after a six-game rehab assignment, during which he went 9-for-23 with a homer, a double and two stolen bases. The two steals are an especially encouraging sign that Herrera has fully recovered from the knee bruise that has sidelined him for the past month. Herrera clubbed four homers in seven games prior to the injury and will reclaim the starting job behind the plate, with Pedro Pages and Yohel Pozo serving as secondary options.
