The Padres recalled Campusano from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

With Jason Heyward (oblique) headed for the IL, Campusano will come up from the minors to fill the open spot on San Diego's bench. The 26-year-old backstop is 0-for-6 with four walks in the big leagues this season but has slashed .275/.370/.550 with three homers, nine RBI and five runs across 46 plate appearances since being sent down in early May.

The Padres placed Heyward on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a left oblique strain.

Heyward was left out of the starting lineup for a third consecutive game Saturday, and his oblique injury helps to explain why. He'll now be held out of action until at least early June upon moving to the IL, creating a pathway to regular playing time in left field for Brandon Lockridge, who will bat ninth Saturday. Luis Campusano was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Smith will get a breather after going 1-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two walks during Friday's 13-inning affair. Dalton Rushing will get the nod at catcher instead and bat eighth.

Reynolds will start Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Reynolds will be filling in for Michael King, who was scratched from his scheduled start due to a shoulder injury. Saturday will mark Reynolds' first start in the majors and only the fourth start of his professional career, though he isn't expected to last more than an inning or two.

Azocar never received much playing time with the Mets, appearing in just 12 games since being selected to the active roster in mid-April and going 5-for-18 with an RBI and five runs scored. He owns a .733 OPS in Triple-A this season, which could be just good enough for another club to claim him off waivers as organizational depth.

Young has spent the entire 2025 campaign in the minors, slashing .256/.371/.500 with five homers, 21 RBI and 15 runs scored across 97 Triple-A plate appearances. Now with the Mets, he'll supply the big club with a bench piece capable of playing in the infield and outfield. Jose Azocar was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The Mets recalled Waddell from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

The Mets used eight pitchers during their marathon game against the Dodgers on Friday, so they'll bring up Waddell to get a fresh arm in their bullpen. The 30-year-old lefty has throwing 4.1 scoreless innings in the majors this season and owns a 3.06 ERA in 32.1 frames at Triple-A. Genesis Cabrera was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The Cubs selected Kriske's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

After turning in a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP alongside a 27:8 K:BB in 17.2 innings to start the Triple-A season, Kriske will get his first look with the Cubs and return to the majors for the first time since 2023. Julian Merryweather was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
