Greene will visit Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday for his right elbow injury, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Greene felt discomfort in his throwing elbow after Tuesday's side session, which prompted the Reds to place him on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. He opened the year on the IL after having bone chips removed from his right elbow in March and didn't make his 2026 debut until early July. Given that it's another elbow issue, Greene's availability for the rest of the season is in question.

Cincinnati placed Greene on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to right elbow soreness.

Greene's 2026 debut with the Reds was delayed until July 4 after he required surgery in mid-March to remove bone chips from his right elbow. After posting a 6.83 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB in 27.2 innings over his first five starts, Greene has been shut down yet again due to an elbow issue. He'll likely be sent in for further testing before the Reds have a better idea of how much time he'll miss, but it's reasonable to expend the right-hander to be out beyond the 15-day minimum. Cincinnati recalled reliever Luis Mey from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move but will need to fill Greene's spot in the rotation later in the week.

The Brewers reinstated Harrison (forearm) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Pirates.

The 24-year-old lefty will make his return to the Milwaukee rotation after missing just under four weeks while recovering from left forearm extensor tendinopathy. Harrison covered 5.2 innings and 68 pitches during his lone rehab start at High-A Wisconsin last Thursday, so he should be capable of handling something close to a normal workload as he takes the hill for the Brewers for the first time since July 8.

The Nationals designated Littell for assignment Wednesday.

Littell covered 6.2 innings -- his second-longest outing of the season -- in bulk relief Tuesday against the Phillies, but he's on an expiring contract and wasn't viewed as a vital part of the future for a Nationals squad that has begun to fade from the playoff picture following a seven-game losing streak. Even though he had pitched better over his last three outings, Littell struggled to make bats miss (14.6 K%) and keep the ball in yard (25 home runs allowed) during his time with Washington. The Nationals activated Brad Lord (side) from the 15-day injured list to join the roster as a replacement for Littell, who turned in a 4.97 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 112.1 innings over his 23 appearances (14 starts).

Cincinnati recalled Mey from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Mey will be up with the Reds for the third time this season after posting a 7.27 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 14:10 K:BB in 8.2 innings over seven appearances between his prior two stints in the big leagues. He'll likely be ticketed for a low-leverage role out of the bullpen.

Washington activated Lord (side) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

After completing a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester, Lord has been cleared to return to the big-league club. Before landing on the IL, the 26-year-old posted a 3.88 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB over 58 innings. The Nationals designated right-hander Zack Littell for assignment in a corresponding move.

Freeman was removed from Wednesday's game against the Cubs following the top of the fifth inning due to an apparent wrist injury, Adrian Medina of Roundtable.io reports. He went 1-for-3 at the plate before departing.

The Dodgers will likely provide an explanation for Freeman's early exit after the game, but the veteran first baseman appeared to grimace and look at his wrist following a check swing in the top of the fifth. Freeman flied out to center field to finish out the at-bat and was then replaced in the field by Enrique Hernandez in the bottom half of the frame.

Milwaukee optioned Anderson to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Anderson will give up his spot on the active roster to lefty Kyle Harrison (forearm), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Pirates. The 29-year-old righty has been serviceable out of the bullpen this season with a 3.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB through 48.2 innings, so he shouldn't have to wait long before getting another call-up to Milwaukee.

The Pirates reinstated Devenski (illness) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and outrighted him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Devenski had been on the shelf since May 7 due to an unspecified illness. Though the veteran right-hander is healthy again after having made five minor-league rehab appearances since the All-Star break, the Pirates didn't have room for him in the big-league bullpen and dropped him from the 40-man roster. He looks set to report to Indianapolis, though he also has the ability to elect free agency if he wants to pursue opportunities outside of the organization.

Pittsburgh optioned Dotel to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Dotel made five appearances with the big-league club after being activated from the injured list July 18. In 14 games in the majors this year, the 23-year-old has a 5.06 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 29:11 K:BB through 26.2 innings. Dotel is being sent to Triple-A in order to make room for Evan Sisk's (elbow) return from the injured list.
