Soroka (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Mets, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Coming off off his first scoreless outing of the season, Soroka found himself in trouble early Thursday, issuing a pair of walks in the first inning before giving up a three-run homer to Jeff McNeil with two outs. Soroka would settle in, allowing just one additional run over his final four innings, but the Nats couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 4-3 loss. The 27-year-old Soroka sports a 5.14 ERA despite posting a solid 1.12 WHIP and 40:10 K:BB through eight starts (42 innings) this season. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, currently slated for next week at home versus the Rockies.

Scott pitched a perfect eighth inning, striking out one batter and earning a hold in Wednesday's win over San Diego.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts elected to call upon Scott to face the middle of the Padres' order with Los Angeles holding a 4-2 lead in the eighth. Scott looked great in firing 11 of 15 pitches for strikes and retiring Jackson Merrill, Gavin Sheets and Xander Bogaerts in order. Roberts indicated in early June that the team has "no dedicated closer," and that was emphasized Wednesday, as Scott notched a hold while fellow lefty Alex Vesia struck out the side in a perfect ninth frame to grab the save. Still, Scott leads the club with 12 saves -- including three of the past five -- and remains the best choice for fantasy managers among the Dodgers' bullpen options.

Walker (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Walker had a setback with his left wrist last week, but he responded well to an anti-inflammatory shot and has been cleared for rehab games. The young outfielder's rehab assignment is expected to be a brief one, with a return June 17 for the start of a series against the White Sox representing a logical return date if all goes well.

Senga was removed from Thursday's start against the Nationals in the sixth inning with an apparent right leg injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Senga was covering first base and had to leap to grab a high throw from first baseman Pete Alonso. When he landed, he immediately grabbed at the back of his right leg and went down in a heap. Senga was able to walk off the field under his own power, but it looked to be a potentially significant leg injury. The Mets should have more on his status shortly. Senga had struck out five over 5.2 scoreless frames before exiting.

The Cardinals designated Vilade for assignment Thursday.

Vilade received the call to St. Louis at the end of May but has since gone just 1-for-13 in seven games with the Cardinals. His poor performance will ultimately result in him losing his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Michael Siani was recalled from Memphis to replenish the big club's outfield depth, and Andre Granillo was selected from Triple-A to fill the open 40-man spot.

Black (hand) was reinstated from Triple-A Nashville's 7-day injured list Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while playing eight innings in left field in a 5-2 loss to Norfolk.

Black was cleared to make his 2025 debut for the Triple-A club after completing his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured right hand, which he sustained late in spring training. Before he was activated, Black played 10 games in a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, slashing .387/.513/.613 with one home run in 39 plate appearances. Black should handle an everyday role with Nashville and will likely see starts in the infield in addition to both corner-outfield spots.

The Cardinals recalled Siani from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Siani began the season on the Opening Day roster but was sent down in late April after playing sparingly. Victor Scott has struggled offensively since early May, but it still seems unlikely that Siani will be much of a threat to Scott's playing time.

The Cardinals selected Granillo's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Granillo will get his first chance to pitch in the majors after starting the Triple-A season with a 1.82 ERA and 0.86 WHIP alongside an impressive 46:8 K:BB through 29.2 innings. He'll replace Chris Roycroft in St. Louis' bullpen and Ryan Vilade on the 40-man roster.

The Cardinals optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Roycroft has failed to find a groove during his multiple stints in the majors this season, posting a 6.92 ERA and 9:9 K:BB over 13 innings. Andre Granillo is taking his spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Lazar allowed one run on three hits and no walks in two relief innings Wednesday against the Cubs. He struck out one.

Lazar continues to operate as a multi-inning middle reliever for the Phillies, as he's worked beyond one frame in four of his six outings. The 26-year-old right-hander should remain a bullpen piece while Aaron Nola (ankle) is sidelined, but Lazar has an uninspiring 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB with zero holds over 10 innings.
