The Marlins optioned Veneziano to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

Veneziano worked 1.1 innings and tossed 49 pitches between a pair of relief appearances the past two days, so he wasn't going to be available Sunday. The Marlins opted to swap him for a fresh bullpen arm in Freddy Tarnok, whose contract was selected from Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Tarnok had been working primarily in the rotation at Jacksonville while posting a 4.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB in 41.1 innings over 12 appearances (10 starts). The Marlins are expected to deploy the right-hander out of the bullpen initially, but if he isn't needed over the next few days, he could be a candidate to make a spot start later next week.

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Norby will take a seat after going 0-for-8 with a walk and an RBI during the first two games of the series in DC. Javier Sanoja will step in at the hot corner and bat seventh Sunday.

Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Hicks will hit the bench for the fourth time in five games, with the Marlins having faced three left-handed starters during that stretch. The Rule 5 pick will see plenty of action between catcher, first base and DH when the team faces right-handed pitching, as he's slashing a magnificent .302/.374/.500 over 107 plate appearances in that split this season.

Stowers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Stowers has made 10 starts against left-handed pitching this season and has an .834 OPS versus southpaws, but he'll take a seat Sunday with MacKenzie Gore on the mound for Washington. Heriberto Hernandez will start in left field and bat fifth in the series finale.

Moniak is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Though he'll take a seat against Grant Holmes in the series finale, Moniak could be gaining traction in the Rockies' lineup. The veteran outfielder had started each of Colorado's last three matchups against right-handed pitchers, going 4-for-9 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and an additional run.

Hiura is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Hiura has produced a weak .222/.333/.278 slash line in 21 plate appearances since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 31. He'll be on the bench for the third time in the Rockies' last four matchups with right-handed starting pitchers and looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role for the time being.

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Rockies.

Baldwin is in the midst of a 1-for-15 slump and will hit the bench for Sunday's series finale against Colorado. Sean Murphy will get the nod as the duo continues to alternate starts at catcher.

The Rockies recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

He was just optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but Palmquist will rejoin the Rockies in short order and reclaim a spot in the rotation after Kyle Freeland (back) was placed on the 15-day IL. Palmquist will start Monday on the road against the Nationals, and he'll tentatively line up for a second start later in the week versus the Diamondbacks at Coors Field. Though he's regarded as one of the better pitching prospects in a thin system, he went 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over his first five starts with Colorado and won't make for an appealing streaming option in the majority of fantasy leagues.

The Rockies placed Freeland on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to lower-back stiffness.

Freeland didn't seem to be dealing with any physical issues while turning in his third consecutive quality start Wednesday, so the back injury may have cropped up during his between-starts bullpen session. The lefty's stint on the IL will be backdated to Thursday, and he could be ready for reinstatement when first eligible June 27. The Rockies called up Carson Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill Freeland's spot in the rotation.
