Suarez (6-1) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings in a 4-2 victory over the Marlins. He struck out eight.

A solo shot by Connor Norby in the fifth inning accounted for the only damage off Suarez, who delivered his eighth straight quality start on 95 pitches (63 strikes), including 32 called or swinging strikes. During his quality-start streak, the southpaw has posted a stellar 1.17 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB through 53.2 innings. Suarez will look to stay locked in when he makes his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Houston.

Ohtani is scheduled to make his next start as a pitcher Sunday against the Nationals in Los Angeles.

Ohtani will begin his time as a two-way player with the Dodgers with a two-start pitching week, but just like when he made his mound debut in Monday's win over the Padres, the right-hander is expected to serve as an opener this Sunday. After tossing one inning and 28 pitches Monday, Ohtani could push up to the 2-to-3-inning range and toss around 40 pitches against the Nationals, though the Dodgers haven't provided official word on what his workload might look like. According to Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com, manager Dave Roberts did note that Ben Casparius would "most likely" pitch behind Ohtani again, after Casparius previously earned the win Monday while covering 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. The Dodgers' goal is for Ohtani to gradually get stretched out enough to handle a typical starter's workload without needing to be followed by a bulk reliever, though it will probably take him at least a couple more outings for him to get there.

Lewis is batting .348/.392/.461 with five extra-base hits, 11 steals, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored over 21 games in the Arizona Complex League.

The Reds selected Lewis with the 51st overall pick in 2024 and are giving him a taste of the ACL before exposing him to full-season ball. That appears to be a good thing for the 19-year-old Lewis, as noted by Keith Law of The Athletic, who feels he could be a top-75 prospect now and in the top 30 by next winter. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has played exclusively at shortstop for the ACL Reds, but he could profile at another infield position if short doesn't work out.

Callihan (forearm) played catch prior to Wednesday's game at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

This was the first time Callihan played catch since breaking his forearm six weeks ago. Doctors have given him various timelines for his recovery, but the 25-year-old outfielder, who is currently on the 60-day injured list, chooses to take it day-to-day. He was also given clearance to start lifting weights with his left arm.

Dix is batting .341/.415/.476 with 11 extra-base hits, eight steals, 15 RBI and 24 runs scored over 32 games in the Arizona Complex League.

Dix, a 19-year-old middle infielder whom Arizona drafted 35th overall in 2024, looks like he's ready for the next level. He's riding a 24-game on-base streak and has a modest 19.0 strikeout percentage for the ACL D-backs. He's still getting his base-level strength back following shoulder surgery last autumn, but the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder projects 15-to-20 home-run potential the farther he's removed from the surgery. Dix has mostly played second base in the ACL but has experience at all infield spots from his days in Wisconsin.

Ginkel allowed three runs on two hits and two walks over one inning in Wednesday's 8-1 loss to Toronto. He also hit a batter.

Ginkel made his second appearance since being recalled and both have been in low-leverage, mop-up duty. He managed to escape with a win in his first outing Saturday when the Diamondbacks scored five runs in the bottom of ninth to overcome a four-run deficit that Ginkel helped create. On Wednesday, he entered with Arizona trailing by four runs and threw just 13 strikes among his 29 offerings. Ginkel has allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks while hitting a batter over two innings since his return to the majors.

Smith hit a solo homer as a pinch hitter in a 4-3 win against the Padres on Wednesday.

Smith began the contest on the bench, continuing his regular routine of resting every three games. However, the star backstop was called upon to pinch hit with the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning and came through with a walk-off solo shot to right-center field. Smith extended his on-base streak to 10 games with the blast, and he's batting .378 with three home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored over that stretch. As a pinch hitter this season, Smith has gone 4-for-7, and he's batting a robust .333 overall on the campaign to lead the National League.

Kolek allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Kolek made it through four scoreless frames before the Dodgers tagged him for three runs in the fifth. The right-hander hung around for a scoreless sixth and even remained in the game for the start of the seventh, though he exited after allowing two of the first three batters he faced to reach base in that frame. Kolek was in line for the loss at the time of his departure, but San Diego got him off the hook with a pair of runs in the ninth inning. The quality start was the third of the campaign for Kolek and his first since May 22. He's at a tolerable 3.59 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 37:19 K:BB through nine starts spanning 52.2 frames on the campaign.

Wrobleski (2-2) earned the win over San Diego on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Emmet Sheehan got the start and threw 65 pitches over four frames for Los Angeles, while Wrobleski handled the final five innings. The southpaw cruised through the first four of those frames, holding San Diego scoreless on just one hit. Things got dicey for Wrobleski in the ninth, however, as he gave up three hits and was hurt by a fielding error behind him to allow the Padres to tie the score, but Will Smith's walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame ensured Wrobleski still emerged with the victory. The 24-year-old hurler gave up eight runs over five frames in his season debut April 8, but he's been much better since, posting a 2.79 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across his subsequent four appearances spanning 19.1 innings. It's unclear if Wrobleski will continue to piggyback with Sheehan in the short-term or settle into more of a regular long-relief role.

Sheehan's start was his first MLB appearance since he underwent Tommy John surgery in May of last year. The right-hander had only modestly built up in the minors prior to being activated, topping out at 3.1 frames in his most recent rehab outing and tossing 11.1 innings total over four appearances. Despite that, Sheehan looked great Wednesday -- he induced 10 whiffs on 65 pitches, demonstrated strong control with 43 of his offerings going for strikes, and gave up just a single run. The righty will almost certainly need multiple more starts before he's ready to handle a full workload, but this was about as good an outing as could have been asked for given Sheehan's extended layoff and the quality of his opponent. He's projected to face the Rockies on the road in his next start.
