  • Brady Singer SP | CIN

Reds' Brady Singer: Strikes out nine in loss

Singer (7-6) took the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with nine strikeouts over five innings.

Singer allowed runs in three separate innings but managed a season-high nine strikeouts in a losing effort. It was the first time in eight starts this year that the 28-year-old surrendered more than three earned runs, though he's issued at least three walks in six of those outings. He'll carry a 4.31 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 76:36 K:BB across 85.2 innings into a road matchup with the Red Sox next week.

  • Ian Happ LF | CHC

Cubs' Ian Happ: Power surge continues in rout

Happ went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Cardinals.

The 30-year-old left fielder continued his June power surge, launching his ninth long ball of the month. Happ may be hitting a modest .240 over his last 19 games, but he has the aforementioned nine homers, two doubles, 20 RBI, 11 walks and one stolen base across 75 at-bats. With the big bats of Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong working behind him, Happ should continue to see his fair share of pitches to hit from the leadoff spot.

  • Ronny Mauricio SS | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Homer, three hits in win

Mauricio went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

Mauricio opened the scoring with a solo homer in the third inning while tallying his first career three-hit game. Since making his season debut June 3, he's slashing .224/.274/.414 with three home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored and two steals across 62 plate appearances. The 24-year-old has made 11 of his 16 starts at third base, so he could be at risk of losing playing time with Mark Vientos (hamstring) on track to return from the injured list as early as Thursday.

  • Didier Fuentes RP | ATL

Braves' Didier Fuentes: Hit hard in loss

Fuentes (0-2) was the pitcher of record in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Mets, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and no walks with one strikeout over 3.1 innings.

Fuentes opened with two scoreless innings but was charged with six runs while failing to escape the fourth. He generated just five swinging strikes on 74 pitches and has now surrendered 10 earned runs with a 4:1 K:BB over 8.1 innings across his first two major-league starts. Atlanta has an off day coming up Monday, which could allow the team to reorder its rotation and delay Fuentes' next start until July 5 versus the Orioles. If Atlanta elects to keep its rotation order intact, however, Fuentes would likely make his next turn Tuesday versus the Angels.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Makes history in win

Soto went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Soto now has 27 career multi-homer games, surpassing Jimmie Foxx for the most all-time by a player before turning 27 years old. The superstar continued his torrid June, during which he's launched 10 home runs with a 1.238 OPS over 23 games. For the season, he's slashing .256/.393/.505 with 19 homers, 45 RBI, 58 runs scored and nine steals across 356 plate appearances.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYM

Mets' Clay Holmes: Battles for eighth win

Holmes (8-4) earned the win against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks with two strikeouts over five innings.

Holmes walked four batters and needed 96 pitches to get through five innings, but he limited Atlanta to just a solo homer in the fourth. While the 32-year-old has allowed only five earned runs over his past three outings, he's failed to pitch beyond the fifth in any of them with a 10:12 K:BB during that stretch. He'll carry a 2.97 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 75:35 K:BB across 88 innings into a home matchup with the Brewers next weekend.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Smooth sailing in seventh win

Boyd (7-3) tallied the win Wednesday against the Cardinals, giving up no runs on three hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.

The veteran southpaw efficiently tossed 58 of his 79 pitches for strikes, and he delivered his 11th quality start of the season. The Cubs plated at least one run in each of the first five innings, so Boyd was able to aggressively attack the strike zone and cruise through St. Louis' lineup. Boyd boasts a 2.65 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 82:21 K:BB over 91.2 frames ahead of his next scheduled outing versus the Guardians, who have a dreadful .603 OPS against left-handed pitching since May 25.

  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Pockets 18th save

Megill struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 18th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Pirates.

The 31-year-old righty came through with his sixth straight successful conversion, and on the year he's blown only two of his 20 save chances. Megill hasn't been quite as dominant as his predecessors in the Milwaukee closer role, Josh Hader and Devin Williams, but that's a high bar to clear, and he's been more than adequate in his first full season with the job. Through 27.2 innings, Megill's posted a 2.60 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB.

  • Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski: Blanks Bucs for third straight win

Misiorowski (3-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Pirates, allowing two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

The 23-year-old right-hander has been all but untouchable through his first three big-league starts. Matched up against fellow young ace Paul Skenes, Misiorowski racked up 26 called or swinging strikes on only 76 pitches (50 total strikes) while reaching triple-digit mph on 19 of them. Through his first 16 MLB innings, he sports a 1.13 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB. He'll look to keep dominating in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Mets.

  • Paul Skenes SP | PIT

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Loses duel against Misiorowski

Skenes (4-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks over four innings as the Pirates were downed 4-2 by the Brewers. He struck out four.

Matched up for the first time against Milwaukee phenom Jacob Misiorowski, Skenes was the first young ace to flinch, putting the first three batters on base in the second inning en route to a four-run frame for the Brewers. While Skenes didn't take any further damage, he was lifted after 78 pitches (50 strikes) with the Bucs having once again failed to provide him with any offensive support -- they didn't get on the board until the seventh inning. It's the first time since May 1 that the 23-year-old right-hander has been tagged for more than two runs, and Skenes will take a 2.12 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 110:29 K:BB through 106 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Cardinals.
