  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns save Tuesday

Megill earned the save in Tuesday's win over the Guardians after pitching a perfect ninth inning, striking out two. Megill needed just 12 pitches (eight strikes) to earn his ninth save of the season in 11 chances. He's bounced back nicely after blowing a save against the Rockies at Coors Field on June 5, when he allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over an inning of work. Since then, he's posted three straight scoreless outings around a brief absence due to side tightness. Once again the top endgame option in Milwaukee, Megill has allowed just two runs in his last 11 appearances -- a stretch in which he owns a 1.64 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 13.9 K/9.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Side no longer an issue

Megill (oblique) gave up one hit and struck out two batters during a scoreless inning Wednesday against the Athletics. Megill had been unavailable out of the bullpen earlier in the week due to oblique tightness, but a few days of rest were all he needed to return to full health. The 32-year-old reliever owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 24 frames this season, but he's given up just two runs and struck out 12 batters in his last nine innings.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Managing side tightness

Megill wasn't available to pitch in Monday's game against the Athletics due to oblique tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Megill is slated to play catch before Tuesday's contest, and if all goes well, he's expected to be available to pitch. The 32-year-old gave up two earned runs during his last outing Friday against the Rockies to increase his ERA to 4.70 through 23 frames, though he still boasts a career-best 1.62 FIP.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Unavailable Monday with soreness

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Monday's extra-innings win over the Athletics that Megill was unavailable to pitch in the game due to "discomfort," Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Murphy did not offer any additional details regarding Megill's injury. Megill did battle a flexor strain in his right arm during the second half last season and was given a PRP injection over the winter, though there's no indication at this point that this is a recurrence of that injury. Abner Uribe is the favorite for saves in the Brewers' bullpen for as long as Megill is unavailable.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns win despite blown save

Megill (1-2) earned the win after blowing a save in Friday's 9-7 extra-inning win over the Rockies, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk with one strikeout in the ninth inning. Megill was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning but coughed it up before escaping in a 5-5 tie, ultimately picking up the win after the Brewers scored four runs in the top of the 10th. It was a discouraging outing for the 32-year-old, as he entered the contest having converted four straight saves during a stretch of seven scoreless appearances dating back to May 15. For the year, he's 6-for-8 in save chances with a 4.70 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 23 innings.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Notches sixth save

Megill gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Cardinals. The right-hander fired nine of 13 pitches for strikes to convert his second save chance in the last two weeks, although a Masyn Winn single and stolen base made things interesting. After a bumpy start to the season, Megill has been tagged for earned runs in only two of his last 14 appearances, posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB over 14 innings during that stretch while producing three saves and six holds. Despite the turnaround, manager Pat Murphy appears content to let Megill share the closing load with Abner Uribe for the time being rather than reclaim the role on a full-time basis.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Collects fifth save

Megill struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins. Megill's ninth-inning opportunity came after manager Pat Murphy elected to use Abner Uribe in the eighth. Both relievers have struggled with consistency this season and own an ERA above 4.60, so it's unlikely the Brewers are ready to abandon their closer-by-committee approach.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Picks up second hold Tuesday

Megill struck out one in a perfect sixth inning Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a 12-4 win over the Tigers. The Brewers were ahead 3-1 when the right-hander took the mound, but it was still far from the ninth-inning usage Megill is used to seeing. His performance was encouraging, as he fired 10 of 14 pitches for strikes, but his 9.00 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through eight innings on the season remain sketchy. For now, Abner Uribe appears to be the top closing option for manager Pat Murphy, at least until Megill puts together a sustained run of success.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns fourth save

Megill earned the save in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out two in the 10th inning. Megill was tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the bottom of the 10th inning and did so despite allowing a run to score on a wild pitch. After yielding seven earned runs across consecutive appearances April 10 and 14, he's now picked up a hold and a save in back-to-back solid outings. Angel Zerpa and Abner Uribe, who earned the team's previous two saves, worked the eighth and ninth innings in that order Friday, so Megill's outlook as the team's closer remains murky for now.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Another poor outing

Megill blew his save chance during Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to Toronto. He allowed three runs on three hits and one walk and failed to strike out a batter over one inning. After giving up one run while converting three saves through his first four outings of the season, Megill has now been roughed out his last two times out, yielding seven runs and putting seven runners on base while recording just three outs. Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, manager Pat Murphy acknowledged after Tuesday's loss that the Brewers may consider a change at closer, though the skipper said that no immediate decision has been made. Abner Uribe notched seven saves for Milwaukee in 2025 and would appear to be the next man up if the Brewers go in a different direction at closer, though he's been shaky of late with at least one run allowed in three of his last four appearances. Angel Zerpa (6.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP in nine innings) has recorded the Brewers' lone save this season that hasn't gone to Megill.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Implodes in ninth, takes loss

Megill (0-2) took the loss Friday against the Nationals, allowing four runs on two hits without recording an out. With the game tied 3-3, Megill came on for the top of the ninth inning. He hit CJ Abrams with a pitch, allowed a bunt single to Joey Wiemer, surrendered an RBI single to Luis Garcia, threw the ball away on a sacrifice bunt by Jorbit Vivas and then Milwaukee was unable to get an out on a safety squeeze by Drew Millas. After five batters and nine pitches, Megill's night was over. Megill entered play Friday with a 2.25 ERA but now will take an 11.25 ERA and 5:3 K:BB across four innings into his next appearance.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Holds on for second save

Megill picked up the save Saturday against the Royals, allowing no hits and two walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two. The right-hander did make things interesting, allowing the tying run to get to the plate, but he caught Vinnie Pasquantino looking to end the game. Though Abner Uribe presents a pretty considerable threat in the bullpen, Megill looks to be Milwaukee's primary closer to begin the new year. He's converted each of his first two save chances, but Megill has walked three over three innings so far and will be looking to improve his control going forward.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Makes first spring appearance

Megill tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday's spring game against the Royals. He did not allow a hit, struck out a batter and walked another. It was reported last Monday that Megill received a PRP injection in his forearm at some point over the offseason, but he took the mound for the first time this spring less than a week later, and per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel hit 98.3 mph on the radar gun. The arm issues are something to be aware of, but it's also tough to ignore the 30 saves he recorded last season and 21 the year before. Megill is in line to open the season as Milwaukee's closer, and Abner Uribe is presumably next in line should Megill need a breather or wind up unavailable.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Offseason PRP injection

Megill had a PRP injection this offseason after missing time during the 2025 season due to a forearm strain, Todd Rosiak of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Meanwhile, manager Pat Murphy suggested that he won't necessarily need defined roles for Megill and others at the back of the bullpen. "I don't feel like that at all," he said. "I feel like we'll look at the matchups and see what's best. We'll look at the health of the pitcher. You might see other guys in that mix too." The Brewers' bullpen situation is especially tough to project, because they have so many different good options, even beyond Megill and Abner Uribe. Moreover, both Megill and Uribe are being priced in the draft market as near full-time closers. While their respective ratios and strikeouts mitigate some of the costs of missing out on saves, it's difficult to draft both and miss out on production at another position.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Settles at $4.7 million

The Brewers and Megill avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.7 million contract Thursday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports. It's a nice raise for Megill, who was eligible for salary arbitration for the second time. The 32-year-old notched a career-high 30 saves in 2025, collecting a 2.49 ERA and 60:17 K:BB over 47 regular-season innings. Megill should open the 2026 campaign as the Brewers' closer, but Abner Uribe could also be in the mix to save games.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Opening Game 5

Megill will open Game 5 of the NLDS against the Cubs on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The Brewers have allowed the Cubs to score in the first inning of all four games in the series so far, so manager Pat Murphy will send his All-Star closer to the mound to try to break that trend in the series finale. After Megill is pulled from the game, Jacob Misiorowski is expected to pitch multiple innings out of the bullpen.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Pockets win in return

Megill (6-3) picked up the win in Sunday's contest against Cincinnati, pitching a clean inning with two strikeouts. The Milwaukee right-hander was activated from the injured list prior to this game after being out since Aug. 27 due to a right elbow issue. Megill saw action in the fourth inning, retiring all three batters he faced succinctly on 12 pitches. Abner Uribe, who filled in as closer while Megill he was out, tallied the save later in the contest, as it remains to be seen how the Brewers will leverage their stalwart relievers throughout the playoffs. Megill wraps his regular season with a 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60:17 K:BB across 47 total frames while converting 30 of 36 save chances and appearing in his first All-Star game.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Officially activated

The Brewers reinstated Megill (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Sunday. As expected, Megill will join the 28-man active roster for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Reds. Megill had been sidelined since Aug. 24 due to a right flexor strain, so the Brewers are likely to have him make an appearance in Sunday's contest in order to shake off some rust before the NLDS. Before landing on the shelf, Megill had been serving as the Brewers' closer and posted a 2.54 ERA and 30 saves over 46 innings.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Throws live batting practice

Megill (elbow) threw a successful live batting practice session Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. It was the first time Megill faced hitters since he was diagnosed with a Grade 1 right flexor strain in late August. He could thrown one more live batting practice session before being sent out on a rehab assignment. Megill is aiming to be activated from the 15-day injured list next Tuesday, and thus far, he seems on track to achieve that goal.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Throws successfully

Megill's (elbow) bullpen session went well Thursday, and he is expected to be activated from the injured list by Sept. 16, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. This marked Megill's first time throwing off of a mound since he hit the injured list Aug. 27. There weren't many other details provided, as the assembled media members were called into manager Pat Murphy's office while Megill was throwing. Regardless, Megill should be back for the final couple weeks of the season, barring a setback.
