Monasterio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Monasterio will head back to the bench after he went 2-for-11 with an RBI and a stolen base while starting in each of the Brewers' last three contests, twice in place of shortstop Joey Ortiz and once in place of third baseman Caleb Durbin. Though Durbin's absence from the lineup in Tuesday's 3-1 win appeared to be more of a rest day, Monasterio could make a push for more starts at shortstop if Ortiz is unable to break out of his extended slump at the dish. After going hitless in his return to the lineup Tuesday, Ortiz is now slashing .125/.200/.344 over his last 10 games.

Bauers will start at first base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

With Rhys Hoskins (thumb) landing on the injured list Monday and likely to remain on the shelf through at least mid-August, Bauers should have a clearer path to playing time, though he won't necessarily rank as the Brewers' preferred option at first base. Andrew Vaughn was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Monday and started over Bauers in both of the Brewers' first two games of the series with the Dodgers, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two walks, four RBI and two runs. Though Vaughn will get a breather Wednesday, he could be prioritized ahead of Bauers, who has produced a .212/.329/.381 slash line through 140 plate appearances on the season.

After getting called up from Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Vaughn started at first base in both of the first two contests of the series with the Dodgers, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two walks, four RBI and two runs. Jake Bauers will get the nod at first base Wednesday, but Vaughn could end up seeing the bulk of the starts at the position while Rhys Hoskins (thumb) is on the shelf until around mid-to-late August.

The Nationals announced Tuesday that Sykora was diagnosed with lower right triceps soreness and will be shut down for 2-to-3 weeks before throwing again, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Any arm issue is worrying for the 21-year-old pitching prospect, but the Nationals don't view Sykora's injury as a major concern. The triceps issue will keep Sykora from pitching in the All-Star Futures Game this weekend, however, and he appears unlikely to return to action for Double-A Harrisburg until at least early August. Across four different levels this season, Sykora has compiled a 1.91 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 74:17 K:BB through just 42.1 innings.

Manaea (elbow/oblique) struck out five and allowed three earned runs on four hits and one walk over 3.2 innings in his rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Syracuse.

Manaea had some hiccups in his seventh rehab start, but he built up to 73 pitches in the outing and looks poised to return from the 60-day injured list to make his next appearance in the majors. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets are planning on having both Manaea and Clay Holmes appear in Sunday's game in Kansas City, with the latter pitcher likely to start and the former likely to piggyback him. Though his innings count would likely be somewhat suppressed if he works behind Holmes on Sunday, Manaea could be in better position to secure a win in his 2025 MLB debut than if he were used as a starter. Manaea, who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a right oblique strain and more recently, a loose body in his pitching elbow, should have a rotation spot all to himself coming out of the All-Star break.

Alvarez is slashing .256/.326/.590 with four home runs and a 3:13 BB:K in 11 games for Triple-A Syracuse since he was demoted June 22.

Though Alvarez's poor pitch framing played a factor in his demotion, the Mets sent him down to the minors largely due to the middling production he had provided at the plate after he made his return from the injured list in late April upon completing his recovery from hand surgery. Over his 138 plate appearances with the Mets, Alvarez slashed .236/.319/.333 with a 27.5 percent strikeout rate, prompting New York to turn over primary catching duties to Luis Torrens. The Mets still view the 23-year-old Alvarez as their long-term solution behind the plate, and the improved power output he's shown thus far with Syracuse could put him in the mix for a call-up shortly after the All-Star break.

Borucki (back) struck out one in a scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance with Single-A Bradenton on Tuesday.

The southpaw landed on the 15-day injured list in late June with a lower-back injury but has been cleared to ramp things back up in game action. Borucki's absence has been brief, so it shouldn't take long before he rejoins the Pirates' active roster.

Atlanta recalled Wiles from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Wiles had been in line to start Wednesday for Gwinnett, but he'll instead move up to the big club and join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for right-hander Didier Fuentes, who was demoted to Triple-A after giving up eight earned runs in one inning in his start during Tuesday's loss to the Athletics. The 27-year-old righty will give the big club a fresh arm who's capable of covering multiple innings out of the bullpen, but if he isn't needed in long relief in Atlanta's remaining two games in Sacramento, he could end up filling one of the two open spots in the rotation during this weekend's series in St. Louis. Wiles was previously tagged for three earned runs in a one-inning relief appearance for Atlanta back on April 22, but he's been effective pitching out of the rotation at Gwinnett this season, logging a 3.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 78:24 K:BB in 81 innings.

Wetherholt is expected to play some third base at Triple-A Memphis, in addition to shortstop and second base, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Wetherholt started 36 games at shortstop and 17 games at second base at Double-A Springfield before being promoted to Memphis on Monday. While he has yet to play third base at the professional level, he saw plenty of action at the hot corner in college at West Virginia. Wetherholt's ultimate position at the major-league level is undetermined, but the Cardinals want him to add to his versatility at Memphis. The top prospect slashed .300/.425/.466 with seven home runs, 14 stolen bases and a 40:44 K:BB over 62 games with Springfield and is slated to make his debut with Memphis on Wednesday after its game Tuesday was rained out.

Kelly said after Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Padres that he was lifted early from his start after experiencing right calf discomfort, but he doesn't believe it will be anything worrisome moving forward, ArizonaSports.com reports.

Kelly has had multiple starts cut short in recent seasons due to leg cramping, and he appears to have run into a similar issue Tuesday. Though Kelly said he was "willing and able" to return to the mound for the bottom of the eighth after he felt some discomfort in his calf on two pitches in the seventh, the Diamondbacks ultimately decided to err on the side of caution and lift him early in a one-run game. Kelly dropped to 7-5 on the season while taking the loss, but he emerged with his fifth quality start in his last seven outings, as he allowed just one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four over seven innings and 77 pitches. Manager Torey Lovullo echoed Kelly's comments about his early exit being precautionary in nature, as the skipper said that there is "zero chance" the calf will be an issue for the right-hander moving forward, according to Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com. Kelly tentatively lines up to start the Diamondbacks' final game before the All-Star break Sunday in Anaheim versus the Angels.
