  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Progressing well

Muncy (knee) started swinging a bat Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muncy took swings Friday for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 3. Muncy said of his recovery, "we're right where we think we should be" and shared that "everything feels great." The third baseman appears to be on track for a mid-August return, which is right in line with the initial six-week projected absence.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Taking batting practice

Riley (abdomen) participated in batting practice Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Riley landed on the injured list shortly before the All-Star break with a right abdominal strain. After using the All-Star break to rehab back home, the 28-year-old said he is feeling much better now and is optimistic about his chances to return sometime next week, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. Until then, Nacho Alvarez should continue to work as Atlanta's primary third baseman.

  • Erik Miller RP | SF

Giants' Erik Miller: To begin throwing

Miller (elbow) will begin a throwing program Saturday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Miller was placed on the 15-day injured list July 5 and was projected to miss five weeks. The 27-year-old reliever will rehab at the Giants' complex in Arizona. If he abides by the five-week timeline, he'll likely be back in mid-August.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Rehab stint coming soon

Koss (hamstring) is expected to begin his minor-league rehab assignment next week, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Koss resumed baseball activities shortly before the All-Star break and is approaching a minor-league rehab stint. The infielder has been on the shelf since July 1 due to a strained right hamstring. He should be activated in late July or early August.

  • Hunter Greene SP | CIN

Reds' Hunter Greene: Set for rehab assignment

Reds manager Terry Francona said Friday that Greene (groin) is on track to make a rehab start in the Arizona Complex League early next week, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

The plan is for Greene to make one start in Arizona before continuing his rehab at Triple-A Louisville. The 25-year-old suffered a setback in his recovery from a strained right groin early in July. It's unclear how many rehab appearances he'll need, but he shouldn't be expected back until sometime in August.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting Friday

Goodman is not in Friday's lineup against the Twins.

Goodman will get the final game of the first half and the first game of the second half off, with his first All-Star appearance sandwiched in between. Austin Nola will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

    Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Hits IL

The Rockies placed Estrada (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 11.

Estrada jammed his thumb July 7 against Boston and has been diagnosed with a left thumb sprain. The IL move is backdated to before the All-Star break, so he'll become eligible to return during a three-game set against St. Louis next week. Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

    Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Activated Friday

Tovar (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game against the Twins.

Tovar, who also missed time with a hip injury earlier this year, hit .120 with zero extra-base hits, zero walks and six strikeouts in six rehab games in the Pacific Coast League. While he struggled on his rehab assignment and hasn't gotten going at the plate in the majors either (.708 OPS, three homers in 32 games), Tovar is set for three games in Coors Field this weekend, so he's a solid option in most formats.

  • Max Kranick RP | WAS

Mets' Max Kranick: Likely to require Tommy John

Kranick (elbow) will likely undergo Tommy John surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Kranick was diagnosed with a right flexor strain in late June, and after receiving a second opinion on his elbow, he's expected to undergo his second Tommy John surgery in three years. There's still a chance he undergoes a flexor tendon repair surgery, but for now, the expectation is Tommy John. The 27-year-old logged a 3.65 ERA in 37 innings of relief for the Mets this season. Regardless of which procedure he has, he'll be out for the rest of 2025 and could miss a large portion of 2026.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mets' Jesse Winker: Shut down for at least one week

Winker (back) recently had an epidural and will be shut down for 7-to-10 days, Laura Albanese of Newsday reported Friday.

Winker received an injection to address the pain in his back and will be shut down for at least one week. The 31-year-old has been on the shelf since July 11, and Friday's news likely means he won't be back until August.
