    Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Resting Monday

Herrera is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

After starting in three of the Diamondbacks' previous four games, Herrera will get a breather for the series opener. James McCann will handle catching duties Monday for Arizona.

  • Starlyn Caba SS | MIA

Marlins' Starlyn Caba: Back on track at Single-A

Caba (thumb) is 8-for-26 with two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored in his last six games for Single-A Jupiter.

Caba got off to a tough start to begin July, going 3-for-20 at the dish through his first five appearances. However, he's managed to get back on track by collecting at least one base knock in five of his previous six matchups. Caba missed over two months of action earlier in the season while recovering from a left thumb sprain but has remained healthy since his return June 24.

  • Tony Blanco 1B | PIT

Pirates' Tony Blanco: Back from injured list

Blanco (leg) went 1-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday after being reinstated from Single-A Bradenton's 60-day injured list.

Blanco made his debut in full-season ball after a spring leg injury had kept him on the shelf all season. The 20-year-old first baseman appeared in two games in the rookie-level Florida Complex League last week before he was cleared to join Bradenton.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jalen Beeks: Another bullpen on tap

Beeks (back) is slated to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Beeks tossed a 23-pitch side session Saturday and appears to be closing in on a return from the 15-day injured list. The team has yet to announce whether he'll need a rehab assignment, as he may be ready to return after missing the minimum.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Throwing to live hitters Tuesday

Miller (forearm) is scheduled to face live batters Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Miller tossed a bullpen session Saturday and will take a slight step forward Tuesday by going up against actual batters. It remains unclear if Miller will be asked to complete a rehab assignment considering he's been on the injured list for just over two weeks, so his timetable for a return is currently up in the air.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Heading to bench Monday

Toglia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Orlando Arcia will get the start at first base while Toglia exits the lineup for the first time since July 3. Since slugging his 10th home run of the season in a July 6 win over the White Sox, Toglia's production has tailed off at the plate. He's slashing just .125/.200/.188 with a pair of extra-base hits (both doubles) and a 40 percent strikeout rate over his last nine games.

  • Dodgers' Edgardo Henriquez: Called up Monday

Henriquez was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Henriquez will join the major-league roster for the first time this season after posting a 5.89 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 26 strikeouts over 18.1 innings in 18 appearances, including two starts, with Oklahoma City this season. The right-hander allowed one run on two hits and two walks, while striking out five batters over 3.1 innings with Los Angeles in 2024. Lou Trivino was designated for assignment Monday, opening a spot for Henriquez in the Dodgers' bullpen.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Out Monday with illness

Freeman (illness) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Freeman will take a seat for the second straight game while he continues to recover from an illness. With Freeman on the bench, Mickey Moniak will assume leadoff duties, while Yanquiel Fernandez enters the lineup at designated hitter and as the Rockies' No. 7 batter.

  • Lou Trivino RP | BAL

Dodgers' Lou Trivino: DFA'd by LA

Trivino was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday.

Trivino will head to waivers after surrendering three runs in his last 1.1 innings of work, with both appearances coming against Milwaukee. Edgardo Henriquez was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: To be asked about trade preference

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said Monday that he will approach Arenado in the week leading up to the trade deadline to ask for the third baseman's preference if a trade possibility surfaces, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Arenado has a full no-trade clause and used it to shut down a potential trade to the Astros over the offseason. It's uncertain what the 34-year-old's appetite is for waiving the clause at the trade deadline, nor is it clear what level interest there will be in Arenado from contenders. Arenado has had a fine year defensively at third base but further regressed at the plate, slashing only .241/.299/.381. He's owed $42 million over the next two seasons, with the Rockies being responsible for $5 million of that.
