Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Secures 22nd save
Diaz picked up the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants. He allowed one hit and no walks across a scoreless inning. He struck out one.
The closer gave up a one-out double to Jung Hoo Lee but bounced back to retire Mike Yastrzemski and Patrick Bailey, locking down his 22nd save of the season. Diaz's numbers in 2025 are beginning to resemble his monstrous 2022 campaign, when he posted a 1.31 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 62 regular-season innings with 32 saves. This season, the right-hander holds a 1.51 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 41.2 innings. While his fastball velocity is down slightly to a career-low 97.0 MPH (compared to 97.5 MPH in 2024), the small dip hasn't impacted his dominance on the mound.

David Peterson SP | CHC
Mets' David Peterson: Delivers six strong frames
Peterson (7-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on eight hits and three walks over six innings against the Giants. He struck out four.
The southpaw navigated traffic on the basepaths Saturday but limited the damage to just one run, picking up the win thanks to a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos in the top of the sixth inning. Peterson has consistently gotten the job done this season, logging 121 innings over 20 starts with a 2.83 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. His fastball velocity is down to a career-low 91.7 mph, but he's offset that with a personal best 3.0 BB/9. His 2025 numbers closely mirror his 2024 production, when he posted a 2.90 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 121 innings in 21 regular-season starts.

Luis Garcia 1B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Hot stretch continues
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 9-3 victory over the Twins.
Garcia stayed hot Saturday with a pair of extra-base hits, extending his hitting streak to five games. Over that span, the second baseman is 7-for-19 with two doubles, a home run and an RBI. He'll look to push the streak to a season-best six games in Sunday's contest. Before this recent surge, Garcia carried a .688 OPS through 87 games, but he has now raised that mark to .708.

Alex Call LF | LAD
Nationals' Alex Call: Three RBI off bench
Call went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and one additional run scored in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Twins.
He was originally set to sit Saturday but entered in the third inning after Jacob Young (finger) exited. Call went on to drive in three runs, highlighted by his third home run of the season in the seventh inning. While the outfielder hasn't shown much power this year (.392 SLG), he's been effective overall, posting a .275 batting average and .372 OBP over 70 games. His counting stats -- nine doubles, three homers, two triples and 24 RBI -- are modest, but his 114 wRC+ entering the contest reflects above-average offensive production.

Drew Millas C | WAS
Nationals' Drew Millas: Three-hit performance
Millas went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Twins.
Millas didn't drive in a run during the Nationals' blowout win, but he did notch his first three-hit game of the 2025 season. The catcher entered Saturday hitting 3-for-14 with a double, a stolen base and three RBI over seven games. His recent opportunity at the big-league level has come due to Keibert Ruiz (concussion) being sidelined.

Mitchell Parker RP | WAS
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Earns seventh win
Parker (7-10) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against the Twins. He struck out four.
Parker tossed five scoreless innings before running into trouble and allowing two earned runs, ultimately getting pulled just one out shy of a quality start. The lefty has now delivered back-to-back solid outings, posting a 3.09 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 11.2 innings, a notable improvement from the 9.28 ERA and 2.06 WHIP he recorded over 10.2 innings in his first two starts of July. Following Saturday's performance, Parker owns a 4.91 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 21 starts and 113.2 innings this season.

Matthew Liberatore SP | STL
Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Doesn't complete five frames
Liberatore (6-8) took the loss against San Diego on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings.
Liberatore hadn't pitched in 15 days prior to Saturday, as St. Louis opted to skip his last start so that he could get some extra rest around the All-Star break. Despite the extended time off, the Cardinals didn't want to push the southpaw too hard against the Padres -- per John Denton of MLB.com, manager Oli Marmol said prior to the contest that while Liberatore wouldn't be on a pitch count, he wasn't likely to reach triple-digit pitches. That proved to be the case, as he was lifted after 77 pitches (49 strikes). St. Louis seems set on keeping Liberatore's innings in check during the second half of the season, so shorter outings like this one could become the norm for him. He's currently at 104.2 frames on the campaign, 18.2 more than he threw all of last season, when he worked mostly as a reliever.

Robert Suarez RP | ATL
Padres' Robert Suarez: Reaches 30 saves
Suarez hit one batter and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning to earn a save against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Suarez needed 17 pitches (11 of which were strikes) to get the job done, as he also navigated around hitting Willson Contreras with a pitch. The righty reliever worked his seventh straight scoreless outing, and he's tallied six saves while posting an 8:0 K:BB over that span. Suarez's save Saturday was his 30th of the campaign, making him the first closer to reach that mark this season. He has an excellent chance of surpassing the career-high 36 saves he registered last year.

Randy Vasquez SP | SD
Padres' Randy Vasquez: Navigates through 4.2 frames
Vasquez allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Saturday.
As usual, Vasquez was far from overpowering, notching just six whiffs and two punchouts. He was clinging to a 2-1 lead entering the fifth and retired the first two batters he faced, but manager Mike Shildt then decided to pull him in favor of Adrian Morejon, ending Vasquez's shot at a victory. It was the third straight start in which the right-hander has been yanked having completed fewer than five frames, though he hasn't given up more than two runs in any of those outings. That strategy has hampered Vasquez from getting into the win column, and he's now finished with a no-decision in 11 consecutive starts.

Mookie Betts SS | LAD
Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Returns as pinch hitter
Betts (personal) entered Saturday's loss to Boston as a pinch hitter and struck out in his only at-bat.
Betts missed Friday's series opener to attend to a personal matter and didn't make it to Fenway Park in time for the start of Saturday's game. However, he was able to arrive in time to pinch hit in the top of the ninth inning, when he represented the tying run with two outs. There would be no dramatics against his former club, however, as Betts struck out against closer Aroldis Chapman to end the contest. With Betts now back with the Dodgers, it's likely that he'll return to the lineup Sunday for the series finale.
