  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Sitting out fourth straight game

Doyle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Despite going 7-for-13 at the dish to open the second half, Doyle finds himself on the bench for the fourth consecutive game. The Rockies haven't provided an explanation behind Doyle's ongoing absence from the lineup, and no reports have suggested that the two-time Gold Glove winner is dealing with any sort of injury. Yanquiel Fernandez has been the main beneficiary of Doyle exiting the lineup, as he'll crack the starting nine for the second time in three days.

  • Mookie Betts SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Rejoins lineup Sunday

Betts (personal) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Sunday against the Red Sox.

The 32-year-old didn't start the first two games versus Boston due to a personal matter, but he made an appearance as a pinch hitter in Saturday's contest. Betts has gone 3-for-30 over his past eight games, dropping his slash line for the season to .237/.308/.369, all of which would be career worsts.

  • Alek Thomas CF | LAD

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Activated, starting Sunday

The Diamondbacks reinstated Thomas (personal) from the bereavement list, and he will start in center field and bat eighth Sunday against the Pirates.

Thomas stepped away from the team for a couple days while on the bereavement list, but he's back with the Diamondbacks for Sunday's series finale in Pittsburgh. The 25-year-old has struggled at the plate through 15 games in July with a .234/.294/.362 slash line and 34 percent strikeout rate.

  • Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: In lineup Sunday

Sosa (back) will start at shortstop and bat seventh Sunday against the Yankees.

Sosa departed Saturday's 9-4 win due to a back contusion, but the injury is apparently not much of a concern since he's in the lineup a day later. The 29-year-old continues to perform well as a utility infielder for the Phillies and has an .812 OPS through 15 games in July.

  • Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Good to go Sunday

Castellanos (knee) is starting in right field and batting cleanup Sunday against the Yankees.

The outfielder sat out of Saturday's contest after jamming his knee against the outfield wall Friday, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup after missing just one game. In seven games since the All-Star break, Castellanos is batting .241 (7-for-29) with a double, a homer, a stolen base, five RBI and four runs.

  • Giants' Randy Rodriguez: Fans three Saturday

Rodriguez threw a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Mets, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Rodriguez gave up an infield single but struck out the rest of the batters he faced, throwing 10 of his 14 pitches for strikes. The All-Star has allowed one run in seven appearances this month, posting a 1.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 7:1 K:BB across seven innings during that span. Overall, the right-hander owns a 0.82 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and a 59:8 K:BB in 43.2 innings this season.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Receiving Sunday off

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Stephenson started the first two games versus the Rays and will take a seat Sunday after gong 3-for-9 with a homer, three RBI and two runs. Jose Trevino will step in behind the plate to catch for Cincinnati righty Brady Singer in the series finale.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Out of Sunday's lineup

Steer is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Steer started the first two games of the series and will receive Sunday off after going 1-for-7 with two walks, a run and three strikeouts. He's batting just .213 (13-for-61) with four extra-base hits through 19 contests in July. Santiago Espinal is starting at first base in the series finale.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Kicks off Triple-A rehab Saturday

Koss (hamstring) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, and he went 1-for-5 with an RBI double in the team's 5-4 win over Las Vegas.

Koss began his rehab stint in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday but was quickly moved to Triple-A. The 27-year-old reserve infielder was placed on the 10-day injured list July 1 due to a left hamstring strain, but his quick advancement to Sacramento bodes well for his chances of being activated soon.

  • Padres' Stephen Kolek: Awarded another start

Kolek is slated to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Kolek will make another turn through the San Diego rotation after he was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday to fill the vacant fifth starter spot. Taking the hill for the big club for the first time since July 5, Kolek was dealt the loss against the Marlins after giving up three earned runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. In 13 starts with San Diego this season, Kolek has gone 3-5 with a 4.28 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 54:23 K:BB across 73.2 innings.
