The All-Star right-hander continues to be one of the top pitchers in baseball, having now conceded two runs or fewer in 24 of his 29 appearances in 2025. Skenes is well on his way to notching his first career National League Cy Young Award, posting a 1.98 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 195:39 K:BB across 173 innings. On tap for Skenes next week is a matchup with the last-place Orioles at Camden Yards.

Snell (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Pirates, allowing five runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out six.

On a positive note, the veteran southpaw fanned at least five for the fifth time in his last six outings, and he's worked at least five frames in seven appearances in 2025. Snell has a 3.19 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB over 42.1 innings overall, and he's set to get a favorable home matchup against the last-place Rockies his next time out.

Suarez boasts a 2.89 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 128:32 K:BB over his 137 innings, and he's next in line for a stiff assignment against a Mets team with an .845 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the beginning of August.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Recent dominance continues

That hot stretch has amounted to a scoreless streak of 28 frames, and he's yielded a lone run across 33 innings since the beginning of August. The All-Star right-hander now sports a 2.50 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 176:61 K:BB through 158.2 frames overall, and he'll be aiming to extend his scoreless streak in a scheduled matchup against the Rangers next week.

This marked Megill's first time throwing off of a mound since he hit the injured list Aug. 27. There weren't many other details provided, as the assembled media members were called into manager Pat Murphy's office while Megill was throwing. Regardless, Megill should be back for the final couple weeks of the season, barring a setback.

  • Alex Freeland 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Alex Freeland: Returning to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned Freeland to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The move comes in order to make room on the active roster for Ben Rortvedt, who was selected by the Dodgers on Thursday as Will Smith battles a hand injury. Alexis Diaz was also designated for assignment as part of the move. Freeland got the call at the end of July and slashed .190/.292/.310 across his first 97 plate appearances in the big leagues. The rookie infielder had been filling in for a multitude of Dodgers on the injured list, such as Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Enrique Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim. With some of them nearing a return or having already returned, Freeland might not rejoin the Dodgers in 2025.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

The Dodgers selected Rortvedt's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Next start on mound coming Monday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Ohtani's (illness) next start as a pitcher will come Monday at home against the Rockies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Ohtani was scratched from a scheduled outing Wednesday in Pittsburgh because he was under the weather, and he won't return to the bump until Monday. The 31-year-old will continue to hit until then, as he is in his usual designated hitter and leadoff spots for Thursday's contest against the Pirates.
