  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Done for season with torn UCL

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer announced Monday that Herrera (elbow) has been diagnosed with a torn UCL and will miss the remainder of the season, Jack Janes of MLB.com reports. Colorado placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Friday due to left elbow inflammation, but he was shifted to the 60-day IL just two days later after a follow-up MRI apparently revealed that the 22-year-old reliever was dealing with ligament damage. Schaeffer said that the Rockies don't currently have a timeline for Herrera to go under the knife, as the left-hander will presumably receive additional medical evaluations before deciding whether to get Tommy John surgery, an internal brace procedure or a hybrid of the two. Even if Herrera avoids a UCL reconstruction and instead has a UCL repair surgery, he's still likely to require close to a full year of rehab and recovery before returning to game action in the middle or second half of the 2027 season.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Moved to 60-day IL

The Rockies transferred Herrera (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. Herrera landed on the 15-day IL on Saturday due to left elbow inflammation, but his move to the 60-day IL just two days later suggests that his injury is more severe that the Rockies initially anticipated. With Herrera set to remain on the shelf through at least late July, the Rockies were able to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander TJ Shook, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Battling elbow inflammation

The Rockies placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to left elbow inflammation. Herrera pitched just one-third of an inning during his last appearance Friday versus the Giants and seems to have picked up an elbow injury in the process. He'll remain on the shelf until at least June 14, and his spot on the 26-man active roster will go to Ryan Feltner (elbow), who was reinstated from the IL to start Saturday's game against San Francisco.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Recalled by Colorado

The Rockies recalled Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. The move corresponds with the Rockies placing southpaw Jose Quintana on the 15-day injured list due to a left elbow sprain. Herrera has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 5.16 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Herrera's first appearance out of the Rockies' bullpen will also be his official major-league debut.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Fails to make roster

The Rockies optioned Herrera to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. The 21-year-old lefty was added to Colorado's 40-man roster in November but was never a likely bet to make the Opening Day roster. Herrera spent most of last season with Double-A Hartford, where he had a 3.69 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB across 46.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Placed on 40-man roster

The Rockies selected Herrera's contract from Double-A Hartford on Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Herrera is a lefty hurler who advanced to Double-A for the first time last season. Over 37 relief appearances at that level, he posted a 70:19 K:BB over 46.1 innings along with a 3.69 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Herrera notched a combined 16 saves between High-A and Double-A in 2025, and the Rockies may be eyeing him as a future closer at the major-league level.
