Tauchman is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rays.

The left-handed-hitting Tauchman doesn't always sit against southpaws, but he will take a seat in this one as the Rays send lefty Ian Seymour to the bump. Brooks Baldwin is covering right field and batting seventh for the White Sox.

Benintendi is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Rodon (16-8) took the loss against Detroit on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six batters over six innings.

Rodon pitched well in the outing, but New York's bullpen was again demolished late in the contest, and the team's offense put only one run on the board. The loss snapped a streak of five straight wins for Rodon, though he did manage to nab his fifth quality start over his past six appearances and posted his highest punchout total since he struck out nine Marlins on Aug. 1. Rodon has been effectively consistent for the Yankees this year, registering a 3.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 186:70 K:BB across 176.1 innings spanning 30 starts.

The Rays recalled Gerber from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Gerber was added to the 40-man roster in July, but this will be his first stint in the big leagues since 2020. The 28-year-old has collected a 6.23 ERA with Durham this season, but that has come with an impressive 54:15 K:BB over 43.1 innings.

The Rays recalled Orze from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Orze has spent the last two months in the minors despite holding a 2.72 ERA and 38:15 K:BB over 39.2 innings for the Rays this season. He'll give manager Kevin Cash a fresh relief arm after a bullpen game Wednesday.

The Rays optioned Rock to Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Rock covered 2.2 scoreless innings Wednesday against the White Sox, and his reward is a trip back to the minors. The Rays have summoned Eric Orze and Joey Gerber to supplement their bullpen.

Montgomery was dinged for five runs while recording just two outs in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox, and he finds himself back in the minors a day later. The Rays are adding a couple fresh relief arms after a bullpen game Wednesday.

Gipson-Long is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Tyler Holton in Thursday's game against the Yankees, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Gipson-Long filled a starting role last week following his promotion from Triple-A Toledo, but he didn't impress in his outing against the Mets, taking a loss while allowing six earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings. The Tigers will keep Gipson-Long in the rotation for another turn, but the team will hope to get better results from him by using him out of the bullpen. Holton is likely to work just one or two innings before giving way to Gipson-Long, who should cover multiple frames.

Rooker went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over Boston.

Rooker didn't drive in any runs in Wednesday's win, but he still made his presence felt with his 11th three-hit game of the year and his fourth contest with multiple doubles. The 30-year-old's .824 OPS marks a step back from last season's .927 breakout, though he's remained a steady power source with 40 doubles, 27 homers and 82 RBI across 147 games.

Wells didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Pirates, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Making his second start since recovering from June 2024 elbow surgery, Wells was locked in, with the only blemish on his line coming from a Spencer Horwitz solo shot in the fourth inning. The right-hander tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and through 11.2 innings, he sports a 2.31 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB. Wells will look to continue a strong finish to 2025 in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the White Sox.
