  • Tommy Pham DH | CHW

White Sox's Tommy Pham: Multi-run effort in loss

Pham went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a triple in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Pirates.

Pham accounted for most of the White Sox's offense Saturday, highlighted by his first multi-run game since May 31. Though his team context does him no favors, Pham continues to produce as he has gone 10-of-for 36 with a stolen base across his last 10 games.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: Three hits in loss

Robles went 3-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Robles had a good game from the No. 9 spot, but the Mariners' 4-8 hitters combined to go 0-for-16 with three walks, giving the outfielder little chance to make his hits count. It was his first multi-hit effort since June 14, though Robles has mostly been utilized as a bench bat in his time with the Mariners. He's slashing .259/.359/.389 with one home run, five RBI, six runs scored and six stolen bases over 67 plate appearances between the Nationals and the Mariners this season.

  • George Kirby SP | SEA

Mariners' George Kirby: Quality start in loss

Kirby (7-7) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Angels.

This marked just the third time all year Kirby walked multiple batters. He heads into the All-Star break with seven straight quality starts, though he's gone 2-2 in that span due to a continued lack of run support. Kirby owns an excellent 3.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 116:13 K:BB through 117.2 innings over 20 starts this season.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Angels' Mickey Moniak: Notches steal Saturday

Moniak went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Moniak has swung a hot bat in July, going 11-for-37 (.297) over 10 games this month. Four of those hits have gone for extra bases, and he's added five RBI and six runs. The outfielder is slashing .211/.255/.333 with five home runs, six steals, 28 RBI and 27 runs scored through 77 contests overall, and he should maintain a starting role in center field until Mike Trout (knee) is able to return.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Clean inning for save

Estevez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

This was Estevez's first save since June 28, but he's riding a 15-inning scoreless streak in which he has a 14:1 K:BB and just three hits allowed. The closer is up to 17 saves in 20 chances while pitching to a 2.61 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB through 31 innings this season.

  • Jose Soriano SP | TOR

Angels' Jose Soriano: Works around walks in win

Soriano (5-7) allowed one run on five hits and four walks while striking out five over six innings to earn the win Saturday over the Mariners.

Soriano picked up his first win in three starts since he returned from an abdominal infection. While the four walks were his most in his last eight starts, he was able limit the damage and come away with the win in the low-scoring contest. The right-hander is now at a 3.71 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 72:34 K:BB through 87.1 innings over 17 appearances (15 starts) this season. Soriano threw 87 pitches (59 strikes) Saturday and should be clear for a full workload in the second half.

  • Diego Castillo 3B | MIN

    Twins' Diego Castillo: Promotion pending

The Twins are expected to call up Castillo from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Minnesota is currently dealing with several injuries in the infield and Castillo is expected to take the 26-man roster spot of the IL-bound Jose Miranda (back). Castillo logged just one big-league at-bat last season and is slashing .269/.375/.399 with five homers and seven stolen bases across 283 games with St. Paul. The 26-year-old should see work at third base and could mix in at second base and shortstop if needed. The Twins will need to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Castillo.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Heading to IL

Miranda (back) will be placed on the injured list Sunday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Miranda was a late scratch Friday due to lower-back stiffness and he didn't take the field Saturday. With the All-Star break coming this week, Minnesota decided that it'd be best to give Miranda extended time off to let the back issue heal. Diego Castillo is expected to be called up in a corresponding move and should help out at third base behind Brooks Lee while Miranda is sidelined.

  • Brooks Lee 3B | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Nabs first steal

Lee went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

The steal was Lee's first in the majors. Considering he had just two thefts over 30 minor-league games this season, he shouldn't be expected to make a significant contribution on the basepaths. Modest speed aside, the 23-year-old is an interesting player and he's off to a good start in his Twins career, batting .300 with two home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored across his first 10 big-league contests.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ATL

Twins' Carlos Santana: Delivers go-ahead blast

Santana went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Santana ended June hot, but this was his first multi-hit effort over 10 games in July. The first baseman is 6-for-32 (.188) with three extra-base hits this month. Despite the slump, he's maintained a decent .247/.328/.431 slash line for the year while adding 13 homers, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored, 17 doubles and two stolen bases across 88 contests.
