  • Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Collects 10th win of 2026

Soriano (10-6) picked up the win against the Rays on Tuesday, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out two across 5.2 innings. He did not issue a walk. The nine hits Soriano gave up Tuesday were his most of the season. However, the damage was limited to three runs thanks to double plays that the Blue Jays turned in both the third and fifth innings, the former of which came when the Rays had the bases loaded. Through three starts with Toronto, Soriano has a 2.76 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 16.1 innings, and his next start lines up for this weekend on the road against the Yankees.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Posts quality start in no-decision

Soriano did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over six innings. Soriano opened with four scoreless innings before surrendering a solo homer in the fifth, throwing 63 of 90 total pitches for strikes en route to his first quality start with his new club. The 27-year-old has now yielded three earned runs or fewer in seven straight outings, including just two earned runs allowed over his past three. He'll carry a 3.16 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 134:62 K:BB across 133.2 innings with the Angels and Blue Jays into a road matchup with the Rays next week.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Inefficient in Jays debut

Soriano didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 win over the Phillies, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out three. The start of the game was delayed by two hours due to bad weather, and that combined with any nerves from debuting for a new team may have impacted Soriano's focus and efficiency. The right-hander tossed 62 of 94 pitches for strikes, and after a 1-2-3 first inning he dealt with traffic on the basepaths in every frame, including runners on second and third with nobody out in the fifth. Soriano rallied to fan Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner before being lifted, however. It wasn't the most impressive performance for Toronto's newest member of the rotation, but Soriano hasn't allowed more than three runs in six straight outings dating back to June 30, posting a 3.03 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB through 32.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to provide more length in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Red Sox.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Dealt to Toronto

The Blue Jays acquired Soriano from the Angels on Monday in exchange for infielder Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti and right-hander Angel Rivero, Mark Feinsand and Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com report. After dealing away right-hander Kevin Gausman on Sunday, the 52-60 Blue Jays appeared to be firmly in the sellers camp heading into Monday's deadline. However, the team has replenished its rotation depth with the acquisition of Soriano, who may have carried added appeal for Toronto since he's under club control through 2028. Soriano permitted just one earned run in 37.2 innings while going 5-0 through his first six starts of the season with the Angels, but he's fallen back to earth with a 4.64 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 84:44 K:BB in 85.1 innings over his subsequent 16 outings. The 28-year-old righty could slot into the Toronto rotation as soon as Thursday's game versus the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Earns ninth win

Soriano (9-6) earned the win Sunday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and three walks over five innings in a 4-3 win over San Francisco. He struck out five. Soriano was lifted after five frames at 85 pitches (47 strikes), but he was able to keep the San Francisco offense quiet en route to picking up his first win since June 13. After a disastrous stretch on the mound during May and June, the right-hander has found his footing a bit in July, posting a 2.74 ERA and 0.96 WHIP across 23 innings (four starts), though his strikeout production has dipped a bit this month. Overall, Soriano owns a 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 127:57 K:BB across 123 innings (22 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Saturday against Milwaukee.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Turns in quality start

Soriano allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Monday. Soriano didn't have a strikeout in his last start, but he bounced back well in his longest outing since May 10 versus the Blue Jays. The Cardinals got to him for two runs in the second inning, but Soriano was able to get back on track, ending with 64 of his 95 pitches going for strikes. The right-hander now has a 3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 122:54 K:BB through 118 innings over 21 starts this season. His next start is projected to be at San Francisco.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Fails to log strikeout in loss

Soriano (8-6) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout over five innings as he took the loss versus the Twins on Sunday. Soriano had logged at least two strikeouts in every outing this season prior to Sunday. He's found a little more success with limiting walks lately -- he's given up no more than two free passes in six of his last seven outings. However, he has just one quality start and has reached the six-inning mark only twice in that span. Soriano is at a 3.49 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 115:53 K:BB through 111 innings over 20 starts this season.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Settles for no-decision in QS

Soriano completed six innings in a no-decision against Texas on Tuesday, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Soriano gave up a pair of runs on two walks and a single in the second inning. Beyond that frame, the right-hander was excellent, yielding just two additional baserunners on a hit-by-pitch and a single. Soriano picked up his first quality start since May 21 and completed six innings for just the second time over his past eight appearances. He's faded after a scorching start to the season, but Soriano still holds a respectable 3.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 115:51 K:BB over 106 innings spanning 19 starts. He's projected to start the Angels' final game before the All-Star break in Minnesota.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Hit hard in no-decision

Soriano took a no-decision Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out four. Soriano didn't have his best stuff on the bump Wednesday, as half of the hits allowed went for extra bases. The 27-year-old right-hander has regressed dramatically following an incredible start to the season that saw him post a 0.24 ERA through six starts -- he's given up at least three runs in seven of his last 11 outings. Soriano still holds a respectable 3.41 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 102:48 K:BB over 95 innings, and his next scheduled appearance is set to come at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park versus the division-rival Mariners.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Set to start Friday

Soriano (chest) will start Friday's contest against the Athletics in Sacramento, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Soriano initially appeared on track to start Thursday's series opener, but the Angels opted to push the right-hander back an extra day to give him more time to heal up from the chest tightness and sore legs he experienced after being struck by a comebacker in his previous appearance last Saturday. Soriano has come back down to earth after a remarkable start to the season, posting a 4.74 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 49.1 innings in his last nine starts, though he tossed five scoreless frames his last time out against the Rays before leaving the game early.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Not starting Thursday

Soriano (chest) will not make his scheduled start Thursday against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Soriano reported that he was dealing with chest tightness and sore legs during his last start Saturday against the Rays, and he now appears to be taking a seat versus the A's as a result. Ryan Johnson was called up from Double-A Rocket City on Thursday, and he'll make his second start of the season in Sacramento. More information on Soriano's status will likely be provided in the near future.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Credited with seventh win

Soriano (7-4) earned the win Sunday, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks over six innings against the Dodgers. He struck out two. Soriano held the Dodgers offense to just one run through the first five innings, though things began to spiral in the sixth frame when he allowed a pair of homers to Dalton Rushing and Ryan Ward. Despite his late struggles, a strong offensive showing from the Angels propelled Soriano to his seventh win. After a dominant start to the season, the right-hander has struggled to maintain that form, posting a 5.26 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 39.1 innings over his past seven starts. The 27-year-old will carry a 2.96 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 87:40 K:BB across 82 innings (14 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Rays.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Struggles mightily with control

Soriano did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and seven walks over 4.2 innings against the Rockies. He struck out seven. Soriano generated a huge number of whiffs (22) but struggled mightily with his control, surrendering a staggering nine free passes between walks and hit batsmen. The right-hander was elite through his first seven starts, posting a 0.24 ERA and 0.82 WHIP across 37.2 innings, but has since regressed to the tune of a 5.17 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 38.1 innings across his past seven outings. Soriano is now 6-4 with a 2.72 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 85:38 K:BB across 76 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Labors in fourth loss

Soriano (6-4) took the loss Wednesday against Detroit, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out four. Soriano labored Wednesday, needing 105 pitches (61 strikes) to complete five frames while walking at least a trio of batters for the seventh time this season. The 27-year-old right-hander has come crashing back to earth quite a bit following an amazing start to the year that saw him post a 0.24 ERA through six outings, as Soriano has a 5.35 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across his last 33.2 innings (six starts). He's set to bring what's still an impressive 2.65 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 78:31 K:BB over 71.1 frames overall into a favorable home matchup against the Rockies.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Rebounds with quality start

Soriano completed 6.2 innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven batters. Soriano came into Thursday in the midst of his first rough patch of the season, as he'd given up 12 runs over 17 innings across his previous three starts. The right-hander bounced back nicely, keeping the A's off the scoreboard for five frames before yielding a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Soriano registered his sixth quality start through 11 outings and reached seven punchouts for the sixth time. He's in the midst of a career-best campaign, posting a 2.44 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 74:27 K:BB through 66.1 innings. Opposing batters are hitting just .187 against him, which places him in a tie for sixth in that category among qualified starters.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Dominates Toronto

Soriano (6-2) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across 7.2 innings. Soriano yielded an RBI double to Kazuma Okamoto in the first inning, but that ended up being the only run allowed by the veteran right-hander. Following Okamoto's double, Soriano retired the next 20 batters he faced, a streak that was broken by a Myles Straw infield single in the eighth. It was the fifth quality start of the season for Soriano and his first since April 12 against the Reds. It was the bounce-back performance he needed after giving up eight earned runs over his last two starts, and he now sits at a 1.66 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB across 54.1 innings this season. Soriano's next start is tentatively slated for this weekend at home against the Dodgers.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Roughed up for first time in 2026

Soriano (5-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five batters over four innings. Soriano got off to a blazing start to the season -- in fact, he was recently recognized as the AL Pitcher of the Month for April. However, the right-hander couldn't sustain that success against the White Sox in his first real stumble of the campaign. Soriano gave up two runs in the first inning, then served up a pair of homers accounting for three total runs in the fourth. He ended up finishing just four frames, marking his shortest start of the season, while the five runs he surrendered were a campaign-worst mark. Soriano got through his first six starts spanning 37.2 frames having allowed just one homer, but he's now given up four long balls over his past two starts. He still carries a sterling 1.74 ERA overall, and he'll look to get back on track the next time he takes the mound, which is projected to be a road start in Toronto.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Saddled with first loss Tuesday

Soriano (5-1) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts across five innings. After allowing just one earned run across 37.2 innings in his first six starts of the season, Soriano experienced his first bit of adversity Tuesday. He battled location issues, throwing 40 of his 97 pitches out of the zone, though the right-hander was able to generate 19 whiffs with his plus stuff. Soriano is one of the most groundball-heavy pitchers in the league but did serve up a pair of homers against Chicago, as Colson Montgomery and Drew Romo both took him deep. Despite the rough outing, Soriano still owns a microscopic 0.84 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and league-high 49 strikeouts to 16 walks across 42.2 innings. He's scheduled to see the White Sox again Monday in Los Angeles.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Extends scoreless run

Soriano did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing seven hits and no walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out four. While Soriano failed to come away with a win for the first time in a start this season, the right-hander kept the Blue Jays off the board to lower his ERA to a minuscule 0.24. Through his first six starts, Soriano has given up just one run over 37.2 innings while posting a 0.82 WHIP with 43 strikeouts, the second most in the majors. Soriano will look to keep it rolling in his next outing, currently slated to come on the road against the White Sox next week.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Already at five wins

Soriano (5-0) allowed two hits and four walks while striking out eight over 5.2 shutout innings to earn the win Friday over the Padres. Soriano fell short of a quality start for the first time this season, but he's still picked up a win in all five outings so far. The four walks matched his season high from Opening Day versus the Astros, but that's about the only complaint to be had with his performance. The right-hander has a tiny 0.28 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB across 32.2 innings so far. The walk rate is a concern in the long run, but he's consistently shown an ability to limit home runs as a groundball pitcher. He'll see his luck fade at some point, but he looks like the Angels' clear ace early in 2026. Soriano is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays.
