  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Hits home run as pinch hitter

Butler went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a 5-1 win against the White Sox on Monday.

Butler began the game on the bench, but he still made an impact when he hit a solo homer as a pinch hitter for Daz Cameron in the sixth inning. Butler had been cold coming into the contest, going 1-for-15 with seven strikeouts over his previous four games. Though he didn't start Monday, Butler has been taking on a near-everyday role for the Athletics, as this was his first game out of the starting lineup since the All-Star break.

  • Ky Bush P | CHW

White Sox's Ky Bush: Takes loss in big-league debut

Bush (0-1) took the loss against Oakland on Monday, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks while striking out three batters over four innings.

Bush was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday for his first major-league appearance and was handed the task of trying to end Chicago's 20-game losing streak. The southpaw couldn't get the job done, mostly due to his control -- he gave up just two hits but walked five batters and threw only 45 of 85 pitches for strikes. Bush struggled with walks in the minors too, issuing 42 free passes over 99.2 frames between Double-A and Triple-A. Despite Monday's rough start, he could get at least another turn in the rotation with Drew Thorpe (forearm) landing on the injured list Friday.

  • Bo Naylor C | MIL

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Nabs steal Monday

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a triple, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Diamondbacks.

Naylor put the Guardians ahead for the first time with his RBI single in the second inning. This game was his first multi-hit effort since July 4. The catcher has struggled to hit consistently in his first full year in the majors, batting .206 with a .628 OPS, eight home runs, nine doubles, two triples, four steals, 32 RBI and 32 runs scored over 83 contests. Naylor has alternated starts with Austin Hedges over the last six games, so it's fair to assume that the Guardians will deploy a timeshare behind the dish going forward, though it doesn't appear to be a strict platoon situation.

  • JP Sears SP | SD

Athletics' JP Sears: Sends White Sox to another loss

Sears (9-8) earned the win over the White Sox on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Sears appeared determined to not be the first pitcher to lose to the White Sox since July 10, as he held Chicago to a lone run and retired the final 10 batters he faced. The left-handed hurler notched his second straight seven-inning quality start and has given up just one run on six hits over 14 innings during that span. Sears has held his opponent to two or fewer earned runs in five of his past six starts, though the one exception was an ERA-damaging outing during which he allowed eight runs (seven earned) over six frames against Houston.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Three-hit effort in loss

Gimenez went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one run scored in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Diamondbacks.

Surprisingly, Gimenez's two-run single in the sixth inning marked the first time he'd knocked in any runs since July 13. He's added just two runs scored over 15 contests in that span. Gimenez hasn't been a total slouch -- he's on a 10-game hitting streak, going 14-for-38 (.368) in that span, but it's been a fairly empty average with just three extra-base hits, all of which are doubles. For the season, the second baseman is at a .256/.303/.342 slash line with five home runs, 17 doubles, one triple, 47 RBI, 46 runs scored and 16 stolen bases over 104 contests.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Takes second loss

Clase (4-2) allowed an unearned run without putting a runner on base over one inning, taking the extra-inning loss versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Arizona played some small ball, using a pair of sacrifices to scrape together a run in the 10th inning, The Guardians couldn't respond, leaving Clase to take his first loss since April 28. The closer has gone 10 innings without allowing an earned run, but he's been tagged for two unearned runs in that span. Clase remains rock-solid with a 0.69 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 45:6 K:BB over 52.1 innings while adding 33 saves in 36 chances.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Slugs another homer

Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Red Sox on Monday.

Pasquantino struck out in two of his first three at-bats but ended his performance on a positive note with a solo shot in the eighth inning. It was the first baseman's fifth homer over his past six contests, and he's added 11 RBI during that span. Prior to the power surge, Pasquantino had gone 17 games without a long ball.

  • Romy Gonzalez DH | BOS

Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Homers as pinch hitter

Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run against the Royals in Monday's 9-5 victory.

Gonzalez entered the contest in the seventh inning as a pinch hitter for Dominic Smith and promptly smashed a 452-foot, two-run homer to center field. It was his second long ball in his past four contests after he had gone deep just once over his first 98 at-bats this season. Gonzalez's overall slash line of .283/.336/.453 is pretty solid, but he doesn't see the field often enough to be a viable fantasy asset in most formats -- he plays almost exclusively against left-handed pitchers and has started just once over Boston's past seven contests.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Plates three in victory

Duran went 1-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a stolen base in a 9-5 victory versus Kansas City on Monday.

Duran knocked in a run with a groundout in the second inning and added a two-run double in the sixth. He also stole his 27th base of the season, tied for seventh-most in the majors. Duran has at least one hit in seven straight contests and is batting .375 (12-for-32) with a homer, four doubles, a triple, four runs, six RBI and five thefts over that span.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Racks up four hits Monday

Yoshida went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs Monday in a 9-5 win against the Royals.

None of Yoshida's hits knocked in a run, but he did score twice in the victory. The big performance snapped a four-game hitless stretch during which the DH had gone 0-for-13. This was Yoshida's second four-hit effort of the campaign.
