  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Getting Wednesday off

Malloy isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

After going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during Tuesday's series opener, Malloy will get a day to rest Wednesday. His absence will move Colt Keith into the DH role while Zach McKinstry starts at second base and bats seventh.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Mariners' Luke Raley: Idle versus southpaw

Raley isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

With lefty Tarik Skubal set to start on the mound for Detroit, the left-handed bat of Raley will step out of the lineup Wednesday. Mitch Haniger will start in right field with Cal Raleigh serving as the DH, and Mitch Garver will do the catching for George Kirby.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Red Sox's Chris Martin: Activated Wednesday

The Red Sox reinstated Martin (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

The right-hander looked good during his bullpen sessions over the past week and will rejoin the Red Sox without a minor-league rehab assignment. Martin has a 3.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 29:2 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season and should return to a setup role now that he's healthy.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Sitting versus lefty

Rojas isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Southpaw Tarik Skubal will toe the slab for the Tigers, which will send the lefty-hitting Rojas to the bench to begin Wednesday's contest. Dylan Moore will slide over to third base as a result, allowing Leo Rivas to pick up a start at shortstop.

  • Jonny DeLuca RF | TB

Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Heading to bench Wednesday

DeLuca is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

DeLuca had started in three of the Rays' last four matchups with right-handers but will head to the bench Wednesday while the Cardinals send righty Erick Fedde to the hill. Dylan Carlson will pick up a start in left field in DeLuca's stead.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Mariners' Justin Turner: In Wednesday's lineup

Turner (hand) will start at first base and bat fourth Wednesday against the Tigers, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Turner was pulled from Tuesday's contest after taking a pitch off his left hand, but his bruise won't keep him out of Wednesday's game. The 39-year-old veteran has been hot since the All-Star break, slashing .364/.407/.509 with two homers and eight RBI across 59 plate appearances.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Heading to bench Wednesday

Walls is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will get a breather Wednesday after he had started in each of the previous three games while going 1-for-10 at the dish, bringing his average down to a lowly .148 for the season. Jose Caballero will step in at shortstop for Walls, who is still valued for his defense even though the metrics are not exactly glowing in that regard this season. Walls should be considered at risk of moving into more of a utility role if he's unable to start offering more production at the plate.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | LAD

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Getting rest Wednesday

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rortvedt had started at catcher in each of the Rays' last three games, so his absence Wednesday is most likely a maintenance day. Alex Jackson gets the nod behind the plate.

  • Nick Pivetta SP | SD

Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Being skipped in rotation

Pivetta will have his next start skipped and won't pitch this weekend against the Astros as previously scheduled in order to provide him some extra rest, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The right-hander isn't dealing with an injury, but he's failed to cover five frames in two of his past three starts and has given up 13 runs (12 earned) in those three outings. Pivetta averaged 91.9 mph with his fastball during his previous start Sunday at Texas, which is down a couple ticks from his season average of 94.1 mph. The 31-year-old could be reinserted into the rotation next week for a rematch versus the Rangers.

  • Joey Loperfido LF | HOU

Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido: Taking seat against southpaw

Loperfido is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

After beginning his Blue Jays tenure with five consecutive starts, the lefty-hitting Loperfido will hit the bench while the Orioles send southpaw Trevor Rogers to the bump. Davis Schneider will spell Loperfido in left field Wednesday.
