Julio Rodriguez CF | SEA
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Ramps up activity level
Rodriguez (ankle) ran in the outfield and on the bases before Thursday's game against the Tigers, but he remains without a timetable for his return, MLB.com reports.
Rodriguez also resumed swinging a bat earlier in the week and has now participated in running exercises on consecutive days. Despite the outfielder's increase in activity over the last several days, manager Scott Servais remained non-committal about a timeline for Rodriguez's return. Servais did note that since swinging a bat isn't really an issue for Rodriguez, he could be utilized as a designated hitter when activated from the IL, with defensive duties on hold until his ankle is 100 percent. A short rehab assignment is also a possibility. "The longer it goes, it's a discussion we'll have to have, I think, any time a guy is out for more than two weeks," Servais said. "So we'll just have to wait and see when it gets closer, when he's able to return."

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Activated from IL
The Twins activated Farmer (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Declan Goff of SKOR North reports.
He's been sidelined for nearly a month with a right shoulder strain but is ready to go after playing three rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul. Farmer is starting at second base and batting ninth in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Guardians' Carlos Carrasco: Out with hip strain
The Guardians placed Carrasco on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a left hip strain.
The 37-year-old presumably suffered the injury during his start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, during which he allowed four runs across 4.1 innings. Carrasaco will be eligible for reinstatement Aug. 23, but it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined or if he'll have a rotation spot waiting for him once he's healthy.

Brooks Lee 3B | MIN
Twins' Brooks Lee: Could be headed to injured list
Lee (undisclosed) has been scratched from the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader versus the Guardians and could be headed to the 10-day injured list, Declan Goff of SKOR North reports.
It's unclear what injury Lee is dealing with, but he is no longer listed on the Twins' lineup card as a starter or reserve, so a stint on the IL looks imminent. The Twins should have more information on his status shortly.

Daulton Varsho CF | HOU
Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Crosses plate three times in win
Varsho went 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Orioles.
Batting second ahead of the red-hot Vladimir Guerrero paid off for Varsho, as the 28-year-old outfielder set a new season high in runs in a single game. He's showing more life at the plate of late, and over his last 12 games Varsho is slashing .237/.333/.447 with two doubles, two homers, a steal, eight RBI and nine runs.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: On base three times Thursday
Kirk went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Orioles.
The 25-year-old continues to thrive since becoming the Blue Jays' No. 1 catcher. Kirk has reached base safely in nine straight appearances, batting .452 (14-for-31) during that stretch with two doubles, a homer, four runs and nine RBI. The hot streak has boosted his slash line on the season to .254/.321/.348.

Cody Bradford SP | TEX
Rangers' Cody Bradford: Rangers-Yankees postponed
Bradford won't start as scheduled Friday against the Yankees after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in New York.
The left-hander was reinserted into Texas' rotation last weekend against the Red Sox and was set to start again in Friday's series opener, but that outing will be pushed back. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Saturday, and Bradford should start one of those contests.
-
Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Yankees-Rangers game postponed
Rodon won't start Friday against the Rangers after the game was postponed due to expected inclement weather in New York.
The contest will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Saturday. Rodon's start will be pushed back a day, although it's not yet clear whether he will start the first or second game of Saturday's twin bill.
-
Trevor Larnach LF | MIN
Twins' Trevor Larnach: Not starting first game
Larnach is out of the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.
Larnach should be in the lineup for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll begin the matinee on the bench. The Twins have Manuel Margot in left field and Royce Lewis at designated hitter in the first contest.
-
Matt Wallner RF | MIN
Twins' Matt Wallner: Sitting out first game
Wallner is absent from the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians.
Lefty Joey Cantillo will start for the Guardians, so the lefty-hitting Wallner will begin this one on the bench. Wallner should be in the lineup for the nightcap versus right-hander Alex Cobb.
