  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Getting night off against lefty

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Schneemann and fellow left-handed hitters Bo Naylor and Will Brennan will hit the bench for the series opener while the Cubs send southpaw Shota Imanaga to the hill. Tyler Freeman will get the nod at shortstop in place of Schneemann.

  • Bo Naylor C | MIL

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Idle versus lefty

Naylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

With southpaw Shota Imanaga taking the hill for the Cubs, the lefty-hitting Naylor will retreat to the bench in the series opener. Austin Hedges will fill in for Naylor behind the dish.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Gets two-game suspension

The Red Sox issued a two-game suspension to Duran, who will begin serving the ban Monday against the Rangers.

The suspension was agreed upon in consultation with Major League Baseball after Duran directed a homophobic slur at a fan during Sunday's 10-2 loss to the Astros. Duran will miss the first two games of the Red Sox's series with the Rangers before returning to action for the finale Wednesday.

  • Adolis Garcia RF | PHI

Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Third straight multi-hit effort

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, a run and a stolen base during Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Yankees.

The outfielder walked and singled across his first four plate appearances Sunday, and he finished the day with an RBI single and a steal, his 10th of the season, in the bottom of the ninth inning. It's the third consecutive multi-hit game for Garcia, who went 7-for-11 with two walks, a double, two RBI and three runs during the three-game set in New York. He struggled at the plate in July with a .504 OPS, but he's hitting .357 through 32 plate appearances in August.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Rangers' Carson Kelly: Clubs eighth homer

Kelly went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored during Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Yankees.

Kelly started the final two games of the series and was productive in both contests, going 4-for-8 with a walk, a homer, four RBI and three runs. The 30-year-old was acquired ahead of the trade deadline and was expected to serve as the primary backup to starting catcher Jonah Heim, but Kelly has started five of Texas' 10 games since being acquired. Kelly has a .738 OPS for the season and has gone 6-for-17 with the Rangers, which is significantly more productive than Heim's .619 OPS this year. Kelly could continue carving out a larger share of the playing time if those offensive trends continue.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Rangers' Andrew Heaney: Handed 12th loss

Heaney (4-12) took the loss Sunday against the Yankees after he gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

The left-hander labored throughout the contest and had given up two runs through his first four frames, but he departed with runners on the corners with two outs in the fifth inning and had those baserunners added to his tally when Giancarlo Stanton clubbed a three-run homer off Jose Leclerc. It's the second time in Heaney's past three starts that he's failed to complete five innings, and he's surrendered 10 runs (nine earned) between those two short outings. He has a 4.05 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 115:34 K:BB across 120 innings this season and tentatively lines up for a matchup with Minnesota this weekend.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Goes deep again Sunday

Stanton went 1-for-2 with a walk and four RBI against the Rangers in an 8-7 victory Sunday.

Stanton kicked off the scoring with a first-inning sacrifice fly and added a three-run homer in the fifth. It was the second homer in as many games for the slugger after he failed to go deep across his first eight contests after returning from the injured list July 29. Stanton's homer Sunday was his 20th of the campaign, marking the 13th season in his career he's reached that total.

  • Aaron Judge RF | NYY

Yankees' Aaron Judge: Perfect at plate Sunday

Judge went 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two total runs and a stolen base Sunday in an 8-7 victory versus Texas.

Judge's seventh-inning solo shot proved to be the difference-maker as a late Texas rally ended up falling one run shy of sending the game into an extra frame. The slugger is up to 42 long balls on the season, most in MLB. He's on pace to finish the campaign with 57 home runs, which would be tied for the seventh-most in American League history for a single season.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Yankees' Juan Soto: Launches two homers Sunday

Soto went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in an 8-7 win against Texas on Sunday.

Soto swatted a solo homer in the third inning and another in the seventh. The two long balls pushed his total to 30 on the season, marking the second straight campaign that he has reached that mark. Soto is also just 18 RBI away from his second consecutive season with 100 RBI. Prior to 2023, the slugger had just one 30-homer, 100-RBI campaign over his first five years in the majors.

  • Clay Holmes SP | CHC

Yankees' Clay Holmes: Escapes with save Sunday

Holmes earned a save against the Rangers on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings.

New York carried an 8-3 lead into the eighth frame before reliever Mark Leiter surrendered three runs on three hits and allowed the tying run to come to the plate in the form of Corey Seager. Holmes entered at that point and got Seager to ground out to squelch the threat, and the closer then began the ninth with two straight punchouts. However, he almost let things get away from him, as Holmes proceeded to issue two straight walks followed by an Adolis Garcia RBI single. Texas' rally ended up falling just short when the next batter, Leody Taveras, grounded out. Holmes thus established a new career high with 25 saves, though he's also blown a career-worst nine saves on the season.
