Bassitt is slated to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Keegan Akin in Sunday's game against the Athletics, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Orioles will deploy Bassitt in a bulk role for the first time all season, hoping the arrangement generates better results for the right-hander after he submitted 5.91 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 32 innings through his first seven starts. The A's lineup features four left-handed batters among its first seven hitters, so Akin could work the first couple innings before Bassitt takes over.

Akin will start Sunday's game against the Athletics, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Akin served as an opener three times last season will do so again Sunday for the first time in 2026. He's surrendered seven earned runs with a 5:0 K:BB across his first 5.2 innings of the season. Chris Bassitt is expected to follow as the primary pitcher.

Rogers (illness) said that he threw a "simulated bullpen" session Saturday and is optimistic that he'll be able to return from the 15-day injured list to make a start during the Orioles' three-game series versus the Yankees that begins Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Monday will mark the first day that Rogers is eligible to return from the IL after falling ill with the flu in late April. The southpaw indicated that he doesn't expect to require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, noting that he thinks the throwing session he completed Saturday will be sufficient. The Orioles' coaching staff is still finalizing rotation plans for the three-game set with the Yankees, but even if Rogers isn't deemed ready to pitch during that upcoming series, he'll have a good chance at making it back from the IL by the end of the week.

Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

It's likely just a maintenance day for Springer, who has gone 3-for-16 with a double and a walk over the past four games after missing two contests due to a hit-by-pitch on his already sore foot. Vladimir Guerrero is resting his legs as the designated hitter Sunday while Lenyn Sosa picks up a start at first base.

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 2-1 extra-innings win over Minnesota.

Ramirez singled, stole second base and scored on Kyle Manzardo's single in the fourth inning. Those were the only two hits the Guardians could muster on the day, but they were able to draw nine walks. Ramirez's bat has disappointed so far, as he has a .221 batting average, but his 16.8 percent walk rate has given him the opportunity to steal 15 bases, second in MLB, and score 25 runs in 41 games.

The Twins recalled Rojas from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Rojas will join the Minnesota bullpen as a replacement for fellow left-hander Kody Funderburk, who was optioned to St. Paul. Andrew Morris will make his first big-league start Sunday against the Guardians but will likely be limited from a workload standpoint, so the Twins could end up needing Rojas to cover multiple innings in relief during the series finale in Cleveland.

Though he's been one of six Twins pitchers to record a save this season and leads the club with six holds, Funderburk will wind up losing his spot in the bullpen as his control continued to slip. He has a 2.81 ERA in 16 innings but a more unsightly 1.38 WHIP and 10:13 K:BB on the season. The Twins recalled left-hander Kendry Rojas from Triple-A to bolster the bullpen.

Hedges went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Twins.

Hedges started for the third time in the last four games, but he is expected to shift back to being the top backup after the Guardians acquired Patrick Bailey from the Giants on Saturday. Bo Naylor, who had been the primary catcher, was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in conjunction with the trade. Hedges, who had out-hit Naylor to start the season, will not be given the opportunity to stay atop the depth chart, although he may continue to be the personal catcher for Parker Messick.

Valenzuela is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Valenzuela will get a break for the matinee after he started behind the plate in the first two contests of the series. Tyler Heineman will fill in for Valenzuela at catcher and bat ninth.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Narvaez, who has just one hit (a double) and three walks over his past 16 at-bats. The 27-year-old recently appeared to have taken a firmer hold of Boston's No. 1 catching job by starting five of seven games, but he's now started just two of the past six contests. Mickey Gasper is receiving his second straight nod Sunday, while Connor Wong has also picked up two starts during that six-game stretch.
