  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Expected back Sunday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals that Rizzo (forearm) will "likely" be activated Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Rizzo has been out since mid-June with a fractured right forearm, but he is now on the verge of activation after a handful of rehab games in the minors. While Rizzo's performance has declined dramatically in recent years, he figures to slot back in as the team's primary first baseman, especially with fill-in Ben Rice struggling mightily of late. Rizzo sits with a .223/.289/.341 slash line and eight homers through 291 plate appearances this season.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Making first career start at 2B

Wong will start at second base and bat sixth Saturday against the Tigers, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

As Smith notes, Wong has played 21 innings at second base in his major-league career, but this will be his first career start at the position. Wong homered and doubled in Friday's win over Detroit, and overall he's slashing .285/.339/.432 with 12 homers in 401 plate appearances this season. He could end up playing more at second base than Nick Sogard in the absence of David Hamilton (finger).

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Out of lineup Saturday

Jung is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the A's.

Josh Smith will start at third base and bat third against right-hander Joey Estes. Jung has hit safely in six of his last seven games and he swiped two bags Thursday, but the 26-year-old is still slashing just .229/.234/.314 with two homers in 27 games since returning from right wrist surgery.

  • Wyatt Langford LF | TEX

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Sitting down Saturday

Langford is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the A's.

Langford has gone 0-for-7 over his last two games and 2-for-17 over his last five, so this looks like a day to regroup. Travis Jankowski will start in left field and bat eighth against right-hander Joey Estes.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Taking seat Saturday

Jeffers is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate to catch for starting pitcher Zebby Matthews. Jeffers has enjoyed a productive month with a .926 OPS and five homers, and for the season he's been a top-10 fantasy catcher.

  • Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Sitting against lefty

Abreu is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The 25-year-old will head to the bench against lefty Tarik Skubal, which is standard procedure whenever the Red Sox face a southpaw. Abreu has made just five starts against lefties all year and is 9-for-49 (.184 average) against left-handed pitching this season. Rob Refsnyder, Jarren Duran and Tyler O'Neill will start in the outfield from left to right while Rafael Devers serves as the designated hitter.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Remains out Saturday

Bregman (elbow) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The third baseman will miss a second consecutive start due to elbow soreness, with Mauricio Dubon once again filling in at the hot corner. Bregman has been bothered by the elbow throughout August -- it cost him five games earlier in the month -- but there has been nothing to suggest an IL move will be necessary.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: In Saturday's lineup as DH

Naylor (ankle) will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against the Pirates on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

A bruised left ankle forced Naylor from Friday's game, but apparently he'll be able to tough it out with the help of the DH tag. He was in the midst of a brutally cold stretch in mid-to-late August, but Naylor has turned it on recently with six hits in his last two games.

  • Zach DeLoach CF | CHW

White Sox's Zach DeLoach: Joining big club Sunday

The White Sox will recall DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

DeLoach went just 3-for-22 with one RBI in nine games during his brief stints in the majors in May and June, though he's slashed .288/.373/.435 across 220 plate appearances in Triple-A since his last MLB game. He'll likely be used off the bench once he rejoins the White Sox, though he could make an occasional start in one of the corner outfield positions.

  • Jace Jung DH | DET

Tigers' Jace Jung: On bench Saturday

Jung is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Following an 0-for-5, two-strikeout showing Friday, Jung's slash line is down to .222/.327/.267 through his first 13 games. He's one of the organization's top prospects and the Tigers figure to give him some runway to show what he can do, but Jung will give way to Ryan Kreidler at third base against right-hander Nick Pivetta.
