  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Gets little help in loss

Stroman (10-8) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings as the Yankees fell 5-0 to the Royals. He struck out four.

The right-hander didn't pitch poorly, tossing 56 of 89 pitches for strikes, but Seth Lugo was dominant Tuesday and the Yankees managed only three singles in support of Stroman. He's completed six innings only twice in nine outings since the All-Star break, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through 43.1 innings over that stretch. Stroman will look for a better result in his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Seattle.

  • Jacob Amaya SS | ARI

White Sox's Jacob Amaya: Carving out regular role

Amaya will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians.

Amaya will make a fourth consecutive start at the shortstop position, and he'll have started 11 of the last 12. He's hitting just .233/.281/.267 so far with the Pale Hose and profiles as more of a utility infielder over the long haul, but Amaya should continue to receive regular reps down the stretch for the rebuilding White Sox.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Rays' Edwin Uceta: Struggles in high-leverage spot

Uceta allowed three earned runs on four hits while recording only one out Tuesday against the Phillies.

Uceta entered the game in the eighth inning with the score knotted at 4-4 and runners on second and third. He allowed three of the next four batters he faced to reach base on a double, single and homer, pushing the game out of reach for the Rays. Uceta avoided a loss because Richard Lovelady allowed the inherited runners on base, but it was still a disastrous outing. Even factoring in Tuesday's results, Uceta has a 1.62 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with a 27:3 K:BB in 16.2 innings since Aug. 1.

  • Tommy Pham DH | CHW

Royals' Tommy Pham: Swats ninth homer

Pham went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.

The veteran outfielder gave the Royals an insurance run when he took Mark Leiter deep in the seventh inning. Pham has started nine straight games since joining Kansas City at the beginning of September, batting .270 (10-for-37) over that stretch with two of his nine homers on the year, along with one steal, five runs and five RBI.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Sitting out afternoon game

Lee is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Lee started each of the previous three contests, but he'll get a breather Wednesday as the White Sox and Guardians wrap up their series with an afternoon game. Chuckie Robinson will catch and bat eighth.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Royals' Seth Lugo: Baffles Yanks for 16th win

Lugo (16-8) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over the Yankees, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.

The right-hander didn't even let a runner reach second base in a masterful performance, as Lugo fired 77 of 105 pitches for strikes en route to his third straight quality start and 21st of the year -- one back of major-league leaders Logan Gilbert and Zack Wheeler. Lugo will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled for early next week at home against the Tigers.

  • Gavin Sheets 1B | SD

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Out of lineup against lefty

Sheets is absent from the lineup in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians.

Sheets has now been out of the lineup for two straight games against lefties and has started just one of the last four contests overall. Andrew Vaughn will cover first base and Bryan Ramos will be the designated hitter in the series finale.

  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Sitting versus southpaw

Benintendi is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Guardians.

The left-handed-hitting Benintendi will get the day off as the Guardians send southpaw Matthew Boyd to the hill. Corey Julks will patrol left field and bat leadoff for the White Sox.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Reaches four times Tuesday

Caminero went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in a 9-4 loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

It was an encouraging showing from Caminero, who'd gone just 3-for-23 in his previous six contests. The 21-year-old rookie is batting .266 with a .739 OPS, three homers, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases across 112 plate appearances since he was recalled to serve as Tampa Bay's everyday third baseman in mid-August.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Collects pair of doubles in loss

Wong went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Baltimore.

Wong hit safely for a fourth consecutive game and is 7-for-17 with five extra-base hits during the streak. He's experienced a production drop over July and August, but Wong's .287/.338/.439 line out of the catcher's slot still plays for fantasy managers.
