Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Position switch being discussed
The Red Sox have had internal discussions about moving Devers off third base, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.
Devers battled through lingering issues with both shoulders during the 2024 season and again graded out poorly defensively at third base with a minus-six Outs Above Average rating. If the Red Sox do ultimately decide to shift him away from the hot corner, they would likely have both Devers and Triston Casas bounce back-and-forth between first base and designated hitter. Third base would then be filled by a free agent or trade acquisition, with Boston being connected to Alex Bregman, Willy Adames and Nolan Arenado. Finding a taker for Masataka Yoshida's contract is also part of the equation.

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Three-year, $63M deal with Angels
The Angels signed Kikuchi to a three-year, $63 million contract Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The Angels have been aggressive early in the offseason, adding around $100 million in payroll via signings and trades. Kikuchi is their biggest get so far and adds some much-needed rotation help. The southpaw collected a 4.05 ERA and 206:44 K:BB over 175.2 innings between the Blue Jays and Astros in 2024. He was particularly good down the stretch after landing in Houston at the trade deadline with a 2.70 ERA and 76:14 K:BB across 60 frames.

Yunior Marte RP | CIN
Mariners' Yunior Marte: Inks minor-league deal with Seattle
The Mariners signed Marte (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Marte spent the last two seasons with the Phillies' organization, and in 2024 he posted a 6.92 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 26 innings in the majors. Marte was shut down from throwing in mid-September due to a right shoulder injury, but he should be fully healthy for spring training and will look to earn a spot in the Mariners' bullpen for the 2025 season.

Bryan Mata RP | BOS
Red Sox's Bryan Mata: Staying in Boston
The Red Sox signed Mata (elbow/lat) to a minor-league contract Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Boston non-tendered Mata on Friday after designating him for assignment Tuesday, but the 25-year-old right-hander will stick around with the Red Sox organization. He'll continue to work through his rehab program for right shoulder and elbow soreness, and if he's healthy, he'll have a chance to earn a spot on the Red Sox's major-league roster in spring training.

J.T. Brubaker RP | SF
Yankees' JT Brubaker: Reaches deal with Yanks
Brubaker (oblique) agreed to a one-year contract with the Yankees on Friday to avoid arbitration.
Brubaker began the 2024 season sidelined while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He was able to begin a rehab assignment in mid-June but that was halted by an oblique injury, and he was limited to only 16.2 innings across four levels of the minor leagues in 2024. Brubaker is expected to be healthy to begin the 2025 campaign.

Tigers' Andy Ibanez: Agrees to terms for 2025
Ibanez agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Tigers on Friday to avoid arbitration, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Ibanez took a step back during his second year with the Tigers, slashing .241/.295/.357 over 244 plate appearances during the regular season. However, the Tigers have deemed his performance worthy of a $633,900 raise from his previous salary. He's expected to remain in a utility role next year.

Josh Sborz RP | TEX
Rangers' Josh Sborz: Gets contract with Texas
Sborz (shoulder) signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on Friday to avoid arbitration.
Sborz appeared in just 17 major-league games in 2024, as he spent four separate stints on the Rangers' injured list due to a right shoulder injury. He managed to post a 3.86 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 16.1 innings, and Sborz could be an effective option out of the Rangers' bullpen in 2025. However, he is set to miss the first few months of the campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery in mid-November, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Bailey Horn P | DET
Tigers' Bailey Horn: Claimed by Tigers
The Tigers claimed Horn off waivers from the Red Sox on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
The Red Sox attempted to pass Horn through waivers in an effort to clear space on their 40-man roster, but the 26-year-old southpaw will instead head to Detroit and look to carve out a role. He struggled to the tune of a 6.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP over 18 big-league innings in 2024, so he'll most likely report to Triple-A Toledo to begin the new season.
