Ellard (0-1) allowed three earned runs on two walks and a hit across two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Sunday against the Tigers.

Ellard entered the game in the eighth inning to protect a two-run lead and recorded the final out with runners on first and second. He remained on the mound for the final frame, though he allowed a leadoff single and proceeded to load the bases with two walks. Ellard was pulled at that point, but Jordan Leasure allowed all three runners to score, resulting in Ellard taking the loss. This was his third appearance of the season, with the first two coming in the sixth inning when the White Sox were losing. Ellard's usage Sunday suggests he could be a candidate for saves, though his results could change that.

Wallner went 4-for-5 with two runs scored in Sunday's 9-7 loss against the Astros.

After a slow start to the season, Wallner is 6-for-13 in his last three games and is now hitting .267 with an .804 OPS. He's hit in the leadoff spot in eight of nine games, moving to No. 3 against a left-handed starter.

Tauchman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Sunday against the Tigers.

Tauchman was activated from the injured list Sunday and made his season debut while serving as the leadoff hitter for the White Sox. He reached base on a single in his first plate appearance, and he also came around to score after a single by Andrew Vaughn. Tauchman has showcased strong plate discipline throughout his career, so he should have the chance to score plenty of runs, even considering the subpar White Sox lineup.

McGonigle suffered an ankle injury and is expected to miss time, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

The severity of the injury hasn't been determined, according to the report. McGonigle was 2-for-5 with two doubles in his first game for High-A West Michigan. His 2024 season was cut short in early August due to a broken hand that required surgery.

Guerrero and the Blue Jays agreed Sunday on a 14-year, $500 million contract extension, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Guerrero will be a mainstay in the Toronto lineup for many years to come, inking a lucrative deal to remain with the Blue Jays through the 2039 campaign. The first baseman has produced a career .288/.363/.499 slash line with 160 home runs over six-plus seasons with the team, which has earned him the third-largest contract in MLB history. Guerrero is batting .256/.333/.333 with three doubles, four RBI and three runs scored over 45 plate appearances in 10 games this season.

Butler went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Butler finally lifted one out with a fifth-inning blast against rookie Chase Dollander. Butler's been heating up at the dish with seven hits over his last three games and owns an impressive 6:5 BB:K through 44 plate appearances so far.

The Mariners are expected to recall Canzone from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Monday's series opener versus the Astros, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Canzone will be joining the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Victor Robles (shoulder), who is headed for the injured list. The 27-year-old Canzone has produced a .861 OPS over eight games with Tacoma this season but struggled during his time in the majors in 2024, slashing .196/.271/.381 with eight home runs and 17 RBI across 188 plate appearances. It's unclear if the Mariners plan to give the left-handed-hitting Canzone regular starts against right-handed pitching, as Seattle could instead deploy a platoon of Luke Raley and Dylan Moore in right field while Robles is on the shelf.

Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Soderstrom gave the Athletics a quick lead with a two-run blast in the first inning for his fourth home run of the year. He's tallied multiple hits and at least one RBI in each of his last three games and is catching some early buzz as a breakout candidate for the 2025 season.

Newcomb did not factor in the decision during a loss to St. Louis in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. He allowed one run on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings and struck out five batters.

Newcomb wasn't very efficient but was able to limit the damage and escape a couple of threats. He kept the Cardinals off the board until Masyn Winn's RBI single in the fourth inning. Newcomb has been tagged with 14 hits through 8.2 innings so far, resulting in a 5.19 ERA. His next start is projected to be a road matchup against the White Sox.

Estes (0-2) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over three innings Sunday to take the loss against the Rockies.

Estes got roughed up for a second straight start, as the Rockies tacked on runs in each inning he pitched. He surrendered a leadoff home run in the first and three more doubles before his day ended. That's now 12 runs allowed on 15 hits over his first seven innings of the season. Estes lines up for a home start against the Mets next weekend should he remain in the rotation going forward.
