Vargas went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base Wednesday against Cleveland.

Vargas has been in the lineup for every game this season, though he has been demoted after beginning as the team's primary leadoff hitter. That change in role has been earned, as he has only a .179 average paired with a 26.7 percent strikeout rate. Vargas did manage his second multi-hit game of the season Wednesday, and he also has only two extra-base hits.

Wallner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's victory over the Royals. It was his first homer of the season.

It was just his fourth career home run against a left-handed pitcher, which bodes well for him getting more at-bats against southpaws. Wallner is hitting leadoff against right-handed starters and batting .289 overall with a .912 OPS.

Matthews appears to be the leading candidate to receive a call-up from Triple-A St. Paul and enter the Minnesota rotation if Pablo Lopez (hamstring) is placed on the injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Matthews made a start for St. Paul on Tuesday, so he would line up to fill in for Lopez's spot in the rotation Sunday against Detroit. Matthews has a 1.80 ERA with a 13:1 K:BB in 10 innings at Triple-A. He reached the big leagues for the first time in 2024 and struck out 43 batters over 37.2 innings, but he served up 11 home runs and finished with a 6.69 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.

Ryan (1-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two hits with no walks over seven scoreless innings against the Royals. He struck out four.

Ryan struggled a bit in his second start by allowing four runs over five innings against Houston. He pitched in warmer weather Wednesday than in his previous starts, which he said helped him stay loose. He hasn't walked a batter in 17 innings this season and lowered his ERA to 2.65.

Arozarena went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, two walks and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over Houston.

Before drawing a bases-loaded walk to win it for the Mariners in the ninth frame, Arozarena hammered a grand slam in the eighth inning to get Seattle into the scoring column and make it a one-run game. The slugging left fielder certainly isn't hitting for average in the early going, as he's gone 9-for-47 (.191), but Arozarena has still made an impact at the dish with three big flies, four doubles, nine RBI and 10 walks over 13 appearances. The home run was his first in April.

Pena went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to Seattle.

Pena doubled on a line drive to lead off the ninth frame, and he wound up coming around to score on a wild pitch after stealing third base. The 27-year-old shortstop is off to a slow start at the plate, slashing .186/.286/.349 with two solo homers over 49 plate appearances, but he does have six runs scored, four walks and four thefts through 12 contests.

Ward went 1-for-4 with one walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Rays.

Ward managed to hit his first home run of the 2025 campaign when he took Ryan Pepiot deep for a 349-foot long ball to right field to reduce the Angels' deficit to two runs. Ward has started the season slashing .196/.240/.283 with three walks, four runs, one home run and three RBI across 50 plate appearances.

The White Sox are expected to select Narvaez's contract from Double-A Birmingham on Thursday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Narvaez was released by the White Sox after failing to make the team's roster out of spring training, but he returned to the organization on a minor-league deal at the start of April. He was removed from his game at Double-A shortly after Korey Lee injured his ankle during the White Sox's loss to Cleveland on Wednesday, which is a strong indicator that Narvaez will fill in as catcher depth for the big-league club going forward.

Soler went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay.

Soler was able to reduce the Angels' deficit to one run when he took Ryan Pepiot deep for a 356-foot solo homer to right field in the fifth frame. Soler has belted a home run in three of his last four outings and is on a six-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 6-for-22 with one walk, four runs scored, three home runs and five RBI.

Lee will likely spend time on the injured list after rolling his left ankle during Wednesday's game against Cleveland, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Lee stepped on Carlos Santana's foot while trying to make it back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the sixth inning of Wednesday's contest. No official move has been made yet, but Omar Narvaez's removal from his game at Double-A Birmingham could suggest that he's on his way to join the White Sox as Lee's injury replacement.
