The Twins placed Castro on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain.

Castro hasn't played in more than a week and the Twins have finally relented and placed the super-utility player on the IL. According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, the switch-hitting Castro has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain. While Castro can hit pain-free from the right side, he isn't able to swing left-handed without feeling tightness. He's eligible for activation May 1, and he sounds like he'll have a shot to return at that time.

The Twins optioned Festa to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

After getting called up from Triple-A on April 11, Festa didn't reach the fifth inning of any of his three starts but pitched well nonetheless, turning in a 1.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB across 13 frames. Though Festa has performed well enough to warrant sticking around in the big leagues, the Twins don't plan to expand their rotation to six men and won't have a starting role available for him when Pablo Lopez (hamstring) returns from the injured list this weekend. Festa will continue to stay on a starter's schedule at Triple-A and should be the next man up if an opening in the big-league rotation re-emerges at any point.

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

The White Sox haven't committed to using Baldwin at any one position, but his status as a switch hitter and his ability to play all three outfield spots and three infield spots should allow him to hold down a near-everyday role. He'll hit the bench for the series finale, however, opening up a start for Michael Taylor in center field.

Amaya is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

Amaya will give way to Bobby Dalbec at shortstop after starting in each of the previous five contests. Though he's a dependable defender, Amaya has been one of the majors' least productive hitters this season, slashing .087/.120/.109 over 50 plate appearances.

The Red Sox recalled Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.

Guerrero holds a 5.23 ERA and 7:5 K:BB over 10.1 frames this season with Worcester. He will provide manager Alex Cora with a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Palacios will start in right field and bat leadoff in Thursday's game against the Twins.

Palacios will occupy the leadoff spot for the second game in a row and appears to have at least temporarily supplanted Nick Maton as the White Sox's preferred table-setter versus right-handed pitching. The 29-year-old likely doesn't have much of a leash atop the batting order, however, as he enters Thursday's game with a meager .200/.310/.200 slash line across 29 plate appearances with the big club this season.

The Red Sox optioned Winckowski to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.

Winckowski was needed for three innings of relief in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners, so he's being replaced by a fresh arm. Luis Guerrero will absorb Winckowski's spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Maton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

The left-handed-hitting Maton finds himself on the bench for the second day in a row against a right-handed starting pitcher. After slashing just .167/.298/.313 with a 28.1 percent strikeout rate over 57 plate appearances to begin the season, Maton's time as a strong-side platoon player for the White Sox may well be over. Expect the White Sox to rotate a number of players at the designated-hitter spot rather than deploying Maton as their primary option.

The Blue Jays signed Overton to a minor-league contract Wednesday and assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Overton had been a free agent for nearly a month, after the Mets released him shortly after spring training concluded. The 31-year-old righty has previously made 10 starts at the big-league level from 2021 through 2023, but he's struggled to bounce back after undergoing Tommy John surgery nearly two years ago. Overton finished the 2024 season at Triple-A Louisville in the Reds organization, logging a 9.12 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 24.2 innings.

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Cleveland.

Goldschmidt has now hit safely in eight straight games, going 14-for-31 (.452) with a 1.030 OPS in that span. The veteran first baseman has gotten off to a blazing start with the Yankees, slashing .383/.433/.489 with a home run, 12 runs scored, nine RBI and a stolen base through his first 104 plate appearances.
