The Rangers designated Robert for assignment Monday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Dane Dunning, whose contract was selected Monday. Robert got into four games with the Rangers last season but has spent all of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Round Rock, where he's allowed four runs (two earned) with a 17:4 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

Rodgers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Rodgers' time as the Astros' primary second baseman may be over, as he'll take a seat for the third time in four games while he's mustered a weak .602 OPS through his first 57 plate appearances of the season. Mauricio Dubon will cover the keystone Monday, but the Astros could move Jose Altuve back to the infield on a more permanent basis if the club decides to phase Rodgers out while opening up more playing time in the outfield for Zach Dezenzo and/or Chas McCormick.

Meyers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Though he's regarded as a strong defender in center field, Meyers' lack of production at the plate is beginning to cost him some playing time. Chas McCormick will pick up another start in center field in place of Meyers, who will hit the bench for the third time in five games while he's produced a poor .592 OPS over his 80 plate appearances on the season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Effross (hamstring) will throw live batting practice soon, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Out since late February with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Effross began a throwing program in early April and is ready to progress to facing hitters. He should be ready for a rehab assignment soon, although there's no timetable for the reliever's return to the Yankees' bullpen.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Gil (lat) began a throwing program Sunday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Gil's throwing progression had been pushed back because his right lat strain wasn't fully healed yet, but he played catch Sunday and felt fine a day later Monday. It will be a slow ramp-up for the right-hander, as Gil was shut down for two months. He won't be ready to rejoin the Yankees' rotation until at least June.

Dezenzo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Dezenzo will hit the bench after he picked up starts in the corner outfield in each of the last four games while going 5-for-15 at the plate. With Brendan Rodgers' grip on the everyday role at second base starting to slip, Jose Altuve has seen more time in the infield of late, which has opened the door for Dezenzo to earn more playing time in the outfield.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Stroman still has discomfort in his injured left knee, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Stroman has been shelved for more than two weeks with left knee inflammation and was cleared to play catch in mid-April. However, he's still experiencing lingering soreness and it's not clear when he might be ready to throw off a mound. Stroman appears to be multiple weeks away from a return.

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Unless he's used off the bench, McKinstry will put an eight-game hitting streak on hold while he takes a seat after starting each of the last four games. McKinstry has been an unsung hero in the Tigers' 18-10 start to the season, slashing .321/.426/.476 with one home run and two stolen bases while making starts at second base, third base, right field and left field. Though McKinstry may not have a permanent home at any one position, the Tigers should continue to make regular room for him in the lineup against right-handed pitching while he's wielding a hot bat.

The Orioles claimed Pennington off waivers from the Rangers on Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Pennington hasn't pitched this season, but he isn't dealing with an injury and was instead working on his mechanics with Triple-A Round Rock before the Rangers designated him for assignment last week, per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun. Pennington will occupy a spot on the Orioles' 40-man roster and will report to Triple-A Norfolk to begin his time in the organization.

Jung (finger) will start at third base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Athletics.

Jung exited early in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Giants after sustaining a cut on his index finger, but after receiving treatment for the injury, he looks like he'll be ready to go for the series opener versus the Athletics. The 27-year-old heads into Monday's contest with a five-game hitting streak.
