  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: On bench against righty again

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. The 25-year-old will sit for the fourth time in five games, with three of his absences coming against right-handed pitchers. Manager Stephen Vogt's decision to keep Manzardo out of the lineup of late is somewhat surprising, as he's overcome a slow start to post a .924 OPS since the beginning of May. Rhys Hoskins will draw a fifth consecutive start.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Comes off bench to play hero

Manzardo went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Friday's 1-0 win over the Phillies. The 25-year-old ceded first base to Rhys Hoskins with southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the mound for Philly, but after tossing eight scoreless innings Sanchez was lifted from the game. Manzardo came off the bench as a pinch hitter to face Jhoan Duran and drove a first-pitch splitter over the wall in left field for the game's only run. It was Manzardo's fifth long ball of the season, and four of them have come in May -- over 17 games on the month, he's batting .300 (15-for-50) with 10 RBI and 15 runs.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Out of lineup again Thursday

Manzardo is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Tigers. Detroit's starting pitcher, Casey Mize, throws right-handed but has extreme reverse splits this season, so the left-handed-hitting Manzardo will take a seat for the second straight day. Rhys Hoskins will cover first base and bat cleanup as the Guardians try to complete the four-game sweep.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Heading to bench Wednesday

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. The Guardians typically hold the left-handed-hitting Manzardo out against left-handed starters, but he'll miss out on a start Wednesday against right-hander Drew Anderson. Cleveland will go with Rhys Hoskins at first base as the replacement for Manzardo.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Idle in series opener

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. With a .958 OPS on the month, Manzardo has been one of the team's hottest hitters throughout May, but the Guardians will still look to shield him from left-handed pitching. He'll cede first base to Rhys Hoskins in the series opener in Detroit while southpaw Framber Valdez takes the hill for the Tigers.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Receiving breather Wednesday

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. With lefty Reid Detmers on the hill for the Angels, the left-handed-hitting Manzardo will get a break after he had started in each of the Guardians' last four games. Rhys Hoskins will step in for Manzardo at first base and will bat cleanup.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Heading to bench Monday

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals. Manzardo typically starts against right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench for the series opener in Kansas City while Michael Wacha toes the rubber for the Royals. The Guardians will go with Rhys Hoskins at first base in place of Manzardo, who has followed up his 27-homer 2025 regular season with just two long balls through his first 31 games of 2026.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Goes deep in win

Manzardo entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter and belted a three-run home run in his lone plate appearance in a 14-6 win over the Athletics. Manzardo finished up the game at first base after stepping in for Rhys Hoskins against right-hander Luis Morales. It was the second home run of the season and first in 17 games for Manzardo, who hasn't developed as hoped during his third season in the majors. He's serving on the strong side of a platoon at first base, but the Manzardo/Hoskins tandem is slugging a league-low .283 at the position with just two home runs and 11 RBI between them.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Idle Saturday

Manzardo isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays. The Guardians will keep Manzardo in the dugout Saturday after he went 3-for-16 with two RBI over his last four games. Rhys Hoskins will fill in as Cleveland's designated hitter and bat fourth.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Sitting against lefty again

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. The left-handed-hitting Manzardo will hit the bench for the second straight game while the Royals send another southpaw (Cole Ragans) to the hill for the series finale. David Fry will replace Manzardo in the starting nine, serving as the Guardians' designated hitter while batting cleanup.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: On bench for nightcap

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cubs. Manzardo went 0-for-3 with a walk during the matinee, extending his hitless streak to six games. He'll head to the bench for Game 2 while Chase DeLauter serves as the designated hitter, opening up right field for David Fry.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Serves as DH again

Manzardo started as the designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Mariners. Manzardo has been stuck at DH the first two games of the season, with both starts coming against right-handed pitchers. The right-handed-hitting Rhys Hoskins started at first in both games. There was some thought that Manzardo would see more time at first base this season with Carlos Santana no longer on the team, but those plans apparently changed when the Guardians signed Hoskins after spring training started.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Serves as DH

Manzardo started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's spring game against Milwaukee. Manzardo has appeared in two Cactus League games, one at first base and one at DH. He was expected to be the primary first baseman this season, but plans changed when the Guardians signed Rhys Hoskins to a minor-league deal. The "minor league" is a technicality, as Hoskins is expected to be added to the 40-man roster and will likely split time with Manzardo at first base and DH. The crowd at first base also includes CJ Kayfus, who in theory could be the left-handed complement at first base with Hoskins, which would leave Manzardo as the strong side of a DH platoon. Manzardo's exact role should be made clearer over the course of spring training.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Idle against southpaw

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the hill for Texas, so Manzardo and fellow left-handed hitters George Valera and C.J. Kayfus will head to the bench. With Manzardo sitting, Jose Ramirez will get a day off from playing the field and will serve as Cleveland's designated hitter.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Goes yard in defeat

Manzardo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-2 loss to Texas. Manazardo blasted his 27th homer of the year and his first since Sept. 10 against the Royals. The 25-year-old slugger has been a quality power hitter in 2025, though his fantasy appeal has been limited by his weak batting average and lack of run-scoring production. Through 465 at-bats, Manzardo is hitting .232 with just 47 runs scored and two stolen bases, albeit with 70 RBI.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Goes yard in loss

Manzardo went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Kansas City. Manzardo responded to the Royals jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a two-run blast in the bottom of the frame. It was the fifth home run in the last 11 games for Manzardo, who is 12-for-37 (.324) with six extra-base hits, 10 RBI and seven runs scored during that stretch. He's second on the team with 28 homers and is having a strong second half, slashing .282/.381/.542 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI over 43 games since the All-Star break.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Powers up in loss

Manzardo went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay. He was also hit by a pitch. Jose Ramirez and Manzardo belted back-to-back home runs to lead off the ninth inning, but that's where the Guardians' comeback stalled. The homer was Manzardo's 25th of the season and fourth in the last seven games. Earlier in the year, the lefty-hitting Manzardo started against right-handers only, but now manager Stephen Vogt is using him against lefties, too. Manzardo started the last three times the Guardians faced a southpaw starter as the club still has postseason hopes.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Getting rest Saturday

Manzardo is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Atlanta. Manzardo has been red-hot while starting each of Cleveland's past seven contests, batting .318 with three home runs and five RBI over that stretch. However, he's beginning Saturday's game on the bench with Atlanta sending lefty Joey Wentz to the mound. With Manzardo not starting, the Guardians have opted to give David Fry a chance to DH.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Remains productive

Manzardo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Marlins. Manzardo maintained his second half groove by belting the second of back-to-back home runs in the first inning. It was his 21st of the season, third in the last two games and sixth in 19 contests since the All-Star break.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Clubs pair of homers

Manzardo went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the White Sox. The Cleveland slugger posted his third career multi-homer game and second of the season in the series finale at Chicago. Manzardo cracked a 408-foot solo shot off White Sox starter Davis Martin in the fourth before returning in the seventh to slug another solo homer off reliever Jordan Leasure. The 25-year-old has been hot since the All-Star break, batting .368 (21-for-57) with five long balls, 15 RBI and seven runs across 18 contests. Through 368 total plate appearances, Manzardo is slashing .244/.323/.485 with 20 homers, 52 RBI and 34 runs scored.
